Chapter Text
Hummer had always been sort of a ‘problem’ for others around him – or, at least, the for the ones he was working ever-so-hard to convince to believe. Not that he meant to be, not at all! He tended to squish himself into a sort of ‘respectable’ little box. He’d comply with all requests and try to make himself seem palatable. He’d stick like that for weeks, trying to repress those fickle urges to drop the mask.
Till, naturally, he snapped. Those repressed feelings would come thundering out like a tidal wave, washing away all those he found companionship in. After that, they wouldn’t look at him the same. He’d beg and please and cling, but they all left in the end. Arronax’s museum was only really a reminder of that. All Hummer would feel at the end of it was guilt – till he latched onto another person and restarted the cycle yet again.
When he’d grabbed Wifies’ wrists and pleaded for him to believe, in his head he already sort of figured it to be a lost cause. He was determined of course, he always was, but he already knew how the future would turn out. Despite the fact that this is the furthest he’d ever gotten with someone, he assumed that Wifies would just... give up at the last minute. As most had.
“Then believe in me!”
He implored, grip tightening fractionally in desperation. He traced Wifies’ face, his very being begging for him to stay.
He watched the other take in a deep breath, exhaling a sigh. “Okay.” His partner replies. When Wifies hands over the water-breathing potion, Hummer feels a weight lift off his shoulders and something warm bloom in his chest. When he takes Wifies’ calloused hands and leads him out into the water, he gives him the most loving look his screen can possibly manage. Which really isn’t much, and he’s sure his partner doesn’t actually notice, but it’s the thought that counts. He’s glad that he’s finally found someone as curious as him.
Finally.
Finally, finally, finally.
When It finally witnesses someone populating the Atlantis-like golden haven, It feels the closest thing to a smile tug at It’s features. Levi observes It’s treasure wander around stairs and stumble across bridges; It forgot how huge this place could be for such a little creature. It cranes It’s neck slightly to get a better view as Wifies finally manages to make his way to the door, pulling open the chest that holds It’s heart.
A room that used to be heavily guarded, the heart being the most precious treasure of the kingdom. Now laid bare for Wifies in what some would consider a proposal. The round sphere carefully polished to be offered to someone special one day.
