Work Text:
“Aren't you tired of people walking all over you?”
Uliana leans against the kitchen doorway, looking almost bored.
Bridget swallowed nervously, her eyes flicking over to the oven timer. “I don't know-”
“It's a yes or no question, Pinky.” Uliana said flatly.
“I mean…I guess…”
Uliana raised an eyebrow.
“Yes,” Bridget admitted, the words spilling out in quick succession. “I do.”
The sea witch pushed herself off the doorframe, stepping closer with a glint of something in her eyes. Malice? Mischief? Bridget wasn't quite sure what it was but it was almost…pretty.
“You could join my gang.”
“Me?” The pink haired princess asked, her face scrunching in confusion. “A part of your gang?”
“You want respect don't you? Power? Revenge, even?”
She had to admit that it was tempting. A whole year of trying to be nice, trying to win people over with treats and smiles and where had it gotten her?
Still alone.
“I suppose…”
“That a yes or a no, princess?”
Bridget swallowed hard.
She could say no. She could go back to her pathetic existence as the nice girl who handed out snacks, back to sitting by herself at lunch because Ella was always with Charming now, back to watching everyone else in their happy little groups while she sat alone.
Or she could be a part of…whatever was going on with those villains.
“I…”
“You?”
“I'd like that.”
Shock flashes across Uliana's face for a split second before settling into a smirk.
“Why me though?” Bridget asked.
“Because you have charm,” Uliana said simply, as if that explained it all, “and that can be a dangerous thing.”
“Charm?” She repeated questioningly.
“You look innocent. I'd bet you could get yourself out of anything if you cried hard enough.”
Bridget considered that for a moment. She supposed she could cry, if she really wanted to. She had done plays when she was younger, surely that counted for something. She had never tried to sob her way out of anything but the idea wasn't…well it wasn't exactly unappealing.
Actually she liked the idea a lot.
In the end, who really cared if she fell into something bad? Her parents certainly had bigger worries and Ella was off with her prince now. The sad truth was that Bridget was very, very alone.
She didn't have anything to lose, did she?
