Work Text:
Hook was moping again.
Morgie was used to it, he had to be after living with him for so long, but it still worried him to no end.
The pirate was laying on his back, staring up at the ceiling like he was trying to read something in the chipped paint. His hook was discarded on the floor beside him like it had been thrown down in a fit of anger. His hair was splayed across the pillowcase.
“I wish I remembered my old name,” he said quietly.
Morgie stared at him for a moment. “Yeah?”
“Yeah,” Hook said, almost wistfully. “Sometimes I think I remember, like it's right there but then I forget again.”
Morgie just nods. He's never forgotten his own name, how would he know anything?
Hook turns his head finally. “Do you think you could make me remember?”
“What?” Morgie asked. “How would I-”
“With magic, silly.” Hook interrupted.
“Oh...well I suppose there is a spell somewhere.” Morgie said slowly. “But I don't know if I could do it.”
“You don't have to.”
A pause.
“Maybe I'm not supposed to remember.”
“I could try,” Morgie said, brushing his hair back nervously. He could try, if it meant making Hook feel better.
He liked seeing Hook smile. It happened so rarely but it always made his chest do that weird fluttery thing that he could never quite name.
And Hook was…well beautiful, even when he was brooding and moping. Morgie liked his smiles more though.
“Maybe you shouldn't,” Hook said quietly. “I'll decide later.”
“Whatever you want is fine.”
Morgie wanted to add something to that but he couldn't quite put his finger on what he wanted to say so he just offered a small smile and went back to his homework.
