Work Text:
Bruce had been patrolling all day due to the recent escapes from Arkham asylum. He had asked dick if he could help first but he had to politely decline saying he was pretty backed up on issues in Bludhaven, of course Bruce didn't argue. He already knew that Damien was on a Teen Titans mission and Tim was with Young Justice at the moment. For a slight minute he thought of asking Jason but he would rather let the joker out again then let Jason dangle the fact he asked for help for the next few months. He took a sigh then decided to himself that tonight was going to be one of those nights he has to do things on his own.
Clark was having a pretty slow day, well in his opinion. He had finished his shift at the Daily Planet pretty early as well as having time to save a couple of people during his breaks, now on his way back with his coffee in hand. Once he arrived in his apartment he set his bags on the tiny coffee table in between his couch and TV. On his way to change his clothes he got a message from Bruce.
Bruce: Hey clark im gonna be coming over pretty late sorry in advance.
They had officially been dating for six months, those being the best six months of Clark's life. They always try to make time for one another at least once a week especially due to their very busy schedules. Usually taking the time to watch a movie, cook or even go on a real date.
Clark: No problem, thanks for letting me know I'll see you whenever. Be safe❤️
-Bruce liked a message-
Clark smiled at his phone before he placed it on the dresser next to his bed as he began changing into some more comfortable clothes. He decided on a pair of batman pajama pants that were given to him by Jason as a gag gift a while ago, pairing it with a loosely fitting Wayne Enterprise t-shirt. He started heading over to his bed, softly laying down deciding that he might as well get ahead on some work things as he pulled out his computer.
Bruce was finally on his last few prisoners escorting them to their cells and handing them over to the asylum workers as he walked over to meet commissioner Gorden. “Thank you again Batman, you've been at this all day, seriously what would we do without you.” Gorden said brushing his hands through his damp hair shaking his head. “It's really nothing commissioner." Bruce said with a low scruff in his voice with an underlying sense of tiredness.
Gorden just looked up at him shaking his head again although he was shortly interrupted by an officer congratulating him for another job well done. “It was really this man right behind-.” He said turning around to point at Batman but before he could finish his sentence he realized there was no one there anymore. “Me..” He said, lowering his head and chuckling softly. “That damn bat”
Bruce was finally on his way to Clark's apartment looking to see the time realizing it was almost midnight. He sighed to himself hoping he hadn't made Clark wait all this time. Once he finally got to the window of the apartment he knocked softly seeing a dim blue light come from the corner of Clark's room. As it slowly started coming closer realizing it was clarks phone as he started to see Clark's large silhouette inch closer, unable to stop the small grin on his face once he saw Clarks pants and shirt.
“Looks like someone missed me.” Bruce said, pulling on Clark's shirt once he finally opened the window for him to go fully through. As Bruce slowly started to take off his cowl Clark started snaking his arms around his waist bringing him closer.
“You look tired, what'd you do?” Clark said softly tracing Bruce's eyes bags slowly moving to his short stubble that was starting to grow back.
Bruce leaned into Clark's hand subconsciously closing his eyes as he let out a breath he hadn't known he was holding in until now. “Arkham had another break that's all, but I'm definitely feeling better now.” Bruce said, opening his eyes again gazing into those ocean blue eyes that he wouldn't mind drowning in right now.
Clark smiled, placing his head onto Bruce's hair smelling the mix of his cologne with the sweat from the day's work. “We can cuddle if you want but you've gotta shower first, for both our sakes.”
Bruce swatted Clark's hand playfully then gave him a light punch to the gut as he started heading to the bathroom. “Watch your mouth boyscout, I'm a billionaire remember.” Clark clutched his mid section as if he was really hurt as he smiled cheekily back at Bruce, watching him slowly disappear into the bathroom.
When Bruce came out of the bathroom he was dressed in a pair of superman boxers and one of Clarks Daily Planet shirts “How convenient." He groaned to himself. Clark was laying on his back scrolling through his phone quietly before he turned his head to meet Bruce's gaze, a large grin forming onto his face. “Have I ever told you how cute you look in my clothes?” Clark winked, opening his arms so Bruce could crawl right in.
“Dont push your luck Kent.” Bruce said, wrapping his arms around Clark's torso, laying his face into the crook of Clark's neck. “Yes sir.” Clark said playfully wrapping his arms around Bruce's back feeling Bruce start to relax and put his full weight onto Clark.
“Thats better.” Bruce said, smiling into the side of Clark's neck leaving a few kisses until he got to Clark's jaw. Clark looked up at him now that Bruce was practically sitting on top of him, finally laying the last kiss softly onto his lips.
“I missed you.” Bruce said, going back to his spot on Clark's side. Nights like this were always his favorite of course any time with Clark was his favorite but the times when they could just lay in silence always made their way to his favorites.
Clark hummed softly, turning to his side so he could face Bruce while he softly brought him closer to his chest. “I missed you too Bruce.” Clark mumbled into Bruce's hair as he started brushing his hands through Bruce's hair softly.
Nights like this were what kept both of them going, what kept them fighting. Just knowing that they could come to each other and have a safe space where either could relax and not feel the burning pressure of the world on their shoulders. It was more than worth it.
