Chapter Text
“GATY!”
Two squeals as they pick up the periwinkle-haired girl, spinning her around as they’re filled with joy. After so long, they finally have her back in their arms. Eventually, they set her down, and a gentle hand goes to stroke her cheek. Gaty smiles as she sets a hand over theirs, and as she closes her eyes, Two can see the dark circles under them more clearly.
“Gaty, I’m so sorry…” they say. “If I just sent you to Yoyle City, then maybe One wouldn’t have… I-I don’t even know what you’ve been through, and I can’t even begin to apologize enough for my selfishness.”
“I wanted you to stay after you got eliminated,” they continue, “But… it just made things worse.”
“Two,” Gaty stops them. “Be quiet. I’m glad to be back.”
Two smiles, closing their eyes and holding her close.
After standing there for a while just enjoying each other’s company, Gaty opens her eyes as her soft smile turns into a guilty frown. She looks down in shame as she starts talking.
“Two, I…” she sighs. “I have something to tell you.”
Two bites their lip, and they have a look at the ground too.
“I know…”
Gaty’s eyes widen, Two removing the hand from her face. “Y-You do…?”
They nod. “I saw your pregnancy test on the floor. It was the only thing you left behind.”
Gaty looks terrified, and a subconscious hand goes to her stomach. She gasps as she feels two green hands on her shoulders, and a very serious Two gets close to her face.
“I’m sorry…” They say with sincerity. “If I had known that was even possible, I would have never let us do it, at least without protection. I can’t imagine what it must have felt like to go through that alone…”
“Yeah,” Gaty replies. “That was the first thing One threatened me with when she got me: telling you about it…”
Two tenses up, their hands accidentally gripping Gaty’s shoulders. “Were you really that scared of telling me…?”
“I don’t know,” Tears start filling up in Gaty’s eyes as she talks. “I had no idea if you were going to force me get rid of it, or keep it, or kick me off the show permanently, I just didn’t want to risk it. You’re the host after all.”
“Gaty, I would never force you to do something you’re not comfortable with, much less kick you out for something I played a part in.” They move their hands to cup both her cheeks. Gaty stares at them for a moment before closing her eyes and leaning into the touch. A shaky sigh escapes her.
“Speaking of which,” Two adds, “What… What are you wanting to do with it? This is your decision to make.”
Gaty pauses and thinks.
“Well, I wasn’t entirely sure at first. But now that I know what it's like to just be blipped out of existence, I feel like I’ve taken my whole life for granted. I want to live it to the fullest now that I have it back, and… if you’re okay with it…” she gulps and looks up at the tall algebralien.
“I want to keep it.”
Two, although surprised, grins at her.
“I’ll be right here for you.”
Gaty almost cries right then, but she feels someone’s hand on her shoulder. She turns around and sees Pin, her face a mix of excitement, confusion, and concern. Behind her are Teardrop, Saw and Barf Bag, all with similar expressions.
Gaty’s blood runs cold, worried that they heard the whole thing.
“I-” She looks at Two nervously then back at her friends. “I-It was just a one time thing, w-we didn’t- I never-”
Pin stops her with a hug. Then she starts squealing under her breath.
“You’re going to be a mama, Gaty!”
Gaty’s whole body relaxes, her face burning up a little.
“Yeah… I guess I am.”
The rest of the girls join in, giving her the support she needs through kind words and offers to help take care of the baby once it’s born. It’s all Gaty could’ve hoped for, and now, she finally lets some tears slip.
After some time, Pin ushers everyone away, saying Gaty and Two need to discuss things about the pregnancy. Everyone agrees and walks off, Pin giving Gaty an encouraging smile as she does.
“You’ve got some pretty good friends there,” Two comments.
“Yeah,” Gaty agrees. “The best.” She turns around to face them again.
“Two, I don’t know how the baby will affect your ability to host the show, or if it’ll even come when it’s still going. Not to mention I’m probably going to be in pain a lot of the time and my hormones are going to make me act weird. So I’m sorry in advance if I ever put a hinder on your schedule.”
“Hey, I said I was going to help you, yeah? That means before and after you give birth. I’ll be with you whenever you need me, and Four and X can always host again.”
“They’ve hosted before?
“It’s a long story.”
Gaty suddenly facepalms herself. “We’re going to have to tell everyone, aren’t we…?”
“Yeah,” Two rubs the back of their neck. “But for now, only the people you want to know will know. Except for Four and X, they already know.”
“How did they-”
“Long story.”
Gaty can’t help but giggle, and leans into Two’s chest. “Thank you, Two. For everything.”
Two rubs her back. “Likewise.”
Gaty rubs her belly as she and Two stand in silence. She doesn’t have a bump yet, but now the anticipation was too much to handle.
She was excited now, because she knew they could do this.
