   Summary

   Here reproduced in full are the sixteen letters exchanged between Philippe, chevalier de Lorraine and Philippe I, duc d’Orléans, during the chevalier’s imprisonment in February of 1670. After extensive searching in the collections held at the Bibliotheque nationale de France and the Archives municipales de Marseille, this tender correspondence has been assembled together for the first time since the seventeenth century.
