Summary:

Team Red wake up in another state early in the morning, from there they meet the worst of fates… Having to share a motel room.

Notes:

Me and Solar back at ittttt

If you don’t know how this series works, either Solar or I will write a paragraph, then the other will add on with another! Each fic has a set challenge to write with. Solar’s Paragraphs are italicized, just so y’all know

The challenge for this fic is that each paragraph must start with a color of the rainbow, going in order of course.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Red. That was the color of the wallpaper. “They really didn’t have any more hotel rooms?” Peter asks, his eyes glance around the old, dingy hotel room, with wallpaper that is falling off the walls. “Look at this place, it looks like a place for prostitutes on a budget, or murders.” Wade mutters back. “Stop complaining. This is only for ONE night, we will figure out what to do in the morning.” Matt reassurances. “I call my own bed!” Peter calls out, belly flopping onto the bed. There are two queen sized beds (more like double) in the room. Matt nods, “That is how it should be.” Wade gasps dramatically, “How come he gets his own bed?!” “We are trying to keep things LEGAL here.” Matt answers.

Orange stains littered the sheets as Peter pulled it back. “Uhh, I call the other bed…” Wade bounded over to the one Peter was just at. “Jesus, did Tony the Tiger host an orgy here!?” Matt sighed, “I’m gonna go wash up. Don’t…” He looked at Wade, “Just don’t.” It took all of four seconds for the bathroom door to slide open and Matt to dash out, tripping over the doorway. “Alright alright, If you wanted me to join you that bad you should’ve just asked.” Wade set off towards Matt, who had gotten up and looked rather miffed. “No you asshole, that thing’s disgusting. I can’t even see it and I know it's a real shithole.” Peter wandered over to the bathroom and peeked in, then, he wished to scrub his eyes and enhanced senses out with bleach.

Yellow. That was the color of the bathroom floor. Someone literally pissed on the floor. “I.. I don’t think they cleaned this room… like at all.” Wade walks over, even he is genuinely horrified. (Peter didn't know that was possible). “This is impressive. In a disgusting way.” Wade mutters. The bathroom isn't even small, it is on the larger side, and the entire floor is covered in.. “At least it matches the color of the bathtub and the toilet now.” Wade adds on. “I would rather pee in a bush.” Petter mutters. Matt jumps up from the bed, “There are DEFINITELY bed bugs.” They decide to go ask for a new room, and by their luck someone checked out early. (shocker). They open the room door..

Green, everything is green. And not in the way any normal human would expect. “Either my senses have finally failed me or this room is covered in… Lettuce?” Matt walked further into the room and sighed. “Nope, haven’t gone crazy yet.” Peter looked around, some prankster literally taped lettuce to everywhere in sight. Even the beds. “I vote the lawyer here just fuckin kills everyone.” They looked at Wade and Peter spoke for the first time since they entered the room. “That’s more your expertise, besides, I think this is liveable. At least it’s not covered in piss and funny stains.” Matt sighed, which seemed to be becoming a habit of his. Let’s just sleep. “Uhh, Matt…” He groaned. It turns out there were no blankets, only lettuce. Everywhere.

Blue, that was the color of the walls. “Uh… guys.. I think there is mold on the walls… maybe we should try and ask for another room.” Peter muttered. “Weakling, can't handle a little bit of mold!” Wade prances over to the bed and flops down. “I don’t think there are any bed bugs here.. Oddly enough.” Matt mutters, before adding, “Someone. Go check the bathroom.” Wade puts a finger on his nose, “Not it!” “Damn it.” Peter mutters. He walks over to the bathroom praying that it isn’t too bad… and it isn't! “Guys it is actually pretty clean, the shower and toilet are white here! Oh and there is no lettuce!” He calls out excitedly. Peter then lets out a high pitch scream as a cockroach climbs out of the shower drain.

Indigo, it was the color Peter felt like as he fell and scrambled backwards like a popular girl in a horror movie. Matt grabbed and pulled him up before stomping on the cockroaches. Wade let out a sigh, then climbed down from the desk. “My devil in shining armor, gosh if you wanna send the kid out…” Wade twiddled his thumbs as Matt told him to fuck off. Peter then pranced over to the beds, picking up the blanket (which was really just a bunch of lettuce stapled together). “I don’t suppose we were smart enough to bring blankets for when we woke up in another state?” Wade let out a breath, “I’ll say one thing, I am never, and I mean NEVER, falling asleep on the top of a semi-truck again. The others agreed as they got ready to sleep. “Hey at least we went out as team red, not civilians, or we probably wouldn’t have gotten a room change.” Wade booped Matt on the nose before replying. “I told y’all violence solves all problems!”

Purple, it was the color of the phone booth as they try to call a taxi service. The phone rings… and rings… and rings. Nothing. The phone goes dead. “The lettuce covered room it is!” Wade announces, practically skipping back. Matt grabs him by the collar, “Not so fast. There is another motel across the street.” (How did he know that? That doesn't matter). “We don’t have enough money to get another hotel room, genius.” Wade snaps back. “Fuck.” Matt mutters, not thinking about the cost. They head back to their hotel room moping around and avoiding the cockroach infested bathroom. “Should we try and get some sleep…” Peter asks. “No, we are going to sit here and touch each other.” Wade sarcastically claps back. “But I am a minor..” Peter mutters not catching the hint. “God help me.” Matt whispers to himself.

Pink hello kitty Pajamas, they were all Peter wanted, he missed those things. “Well I miss my eyesight, but you don’t see me complaining.” Peter stopped complaining and sulked, muttering curses at Matt under his breath. “I miss my hot ass girlfriend. And my hot ass face, and my hot ass.” Peter threw a pillow and Wade with full strength, sending the guy crashing onto the floor. “Bitch.” Was the only thing Wade said before turning around and pretending not to listen in as Matt and Peter had an enlightening conversation about toaster strudels. Finally Peter was beginning to feel sleepy. He checked the clock and saw that it was four in the morning while sighing and curling up under the lettuce blanket. It took seconds before he fell into the sweet abyss of a dream.

White, that was the color of the clouds in his dream. He was flying, his mind trying to forget the events of tonight, and all the traumatizing things that have happened. Wade throws him off the bed abruptly. “What the hell man..” He mutters groggily. His voice thick with sleep. “I just wanted to do that for fun!” Wade then prances back over to his bed, well Peter mutters death threats under his breath. Peter climbs back into bed trying to fall back asleep, praying that he sees his girlfriend in his dream. He pulls the lettuce over himself, trying to get cozy. (As cozy as you can get in a lettuce covered bed). He is then able to drift back to sleep, entering a peaceful slumber.

Brown hot chocolate sitting on the desk was the first thing Peter noticed when he woke up. He sat up as Matt handed him a to-go cup from some little coffee shop. “Thanks, where’s Wade?” Matt sighed, “Trying to, and I quote, ‘live that fantasy with the unhealthily green pool.” At that moment Wade barged through the door, soaking wet and smelling like a wet dog. The cleaning lady was at his heels, hurtling insults and threatening to call the cops. “Matty, I may need a lawyer soon.” Wade grabs Peter’s hot chocolate and chugs it down as Matt shakes his head and sends a silent prayer out. Peter on the other hand was pissed, that was his hot chocolate. “You’ll pay for that ‘Pool.” He muttered before leaping at the guy, he got a few good hits in as Matt watched, sipping on his coffee and acting like he didn’t notice a thing. Peter soon pulled off after Wade gave him ten dollars. He felt satisfied with the hot chocolate collateral and the trio got ready to leave.

Black, was the color of the uber that they were finally able to call. “Finally getting away from that shithole." Wade mutters. “At least it was a place to sleep instead of  having to sleep on the streets.” Matt says back. “It was a rather interesting hotel. Very colorful!” Peter says cheerfully. He got a lot of sleep, and he was able to punch Wade! Today is already starting off as a good day! “A little bit too.. Colorful.” Matt adds on. They were on their way to the airport in hopes of trying to get a flight. They didn’t have much money though, so they were praying for a cheap flight. “We definitely need to go to Claire after that trip though." Matt decides, especially considering the mold. “Yuck, Claire’s apartment is so ugly. Just man up and handle dying.” Wade smirks, Matt just rolls his eyes. The uber slowly comes to a stop as it pulls into the airport. “That will be $122.46.” The uber driver demands calmly. Matt’s eyes widened, he didn’t expect it to be that much. If they paid that then there was NO way they would be able to buy a plane ticket.. Let alone three. Peter taps a random card, paying the driver, and then he drives off. “How did you..?” Matt asks. “Mr.Stark gave me a credit card in his name!” “YOU HAD MONEY THIS WHOLE TIME?!” Wade yells loudly ready to strangle the kid.
