Chapter Text
1x1x1x1 was fearless, full of hate for the one man that created him, cold, no one could suspect that he would have a partner out of all people. And yet, he did.
The man with a glowing eye, see-through, green torso, domino crown, a Dæmonshank that cut hearts out, and an overall zombie look, had a lover?
It was almost laughable really, why would the killer of those innocent have someone who loved him. Did he even love them back? Is the question the survivors asked when supposedly Veeronica stated that she saw 1x1x1x1 with a certain partner…how did investigator Iris know? How did she even find where he lived?
“ No no no! I swear! There was an individual with 1x! “
Veeronica would exclaim, waving her hands in an exaggerated motion to somehow prove her point. Guest 1337 would narrow his eyes, the other survivors murmuring. Shedlestky almost looked unfazed as he chewed a bite of his chicken leg.
“ Maybe it was someone else..? Like one of his goons or something? “
Elliot would suggest, a worried expression still printed on his face since the last round. Chance blinked.
“ Why would one of his NPC’s have romantic feelings towards one person? “
Chance stated, shrugging. Veeronica would look at him, offended.
“ They wouldn’t. “
Jane Doe would counter part. Chance rolled his eyes under his sunglasses. Investagator Iris would open her mouth before Shedlestky butt in, wiping his mouth.
“ How ‘bout me and Guest go check? “
Silence fell before Guest grunted.
“ Not with you, fatass. “
ㅤᘒ —————ㅤ ᘒ
Storm clouds thundered into the sky as it took on a greyish color. The air smelled of wet dirt and coldness and you started to pack up your gardening tools. You gardened today as you stayed home from work. You had the blessing of working some of the work days while staying home the other days. But your husband was always out all week. Sometimes not coming home for two days—it worried you sure, but you always knew he was a workaholic.
You dusted the dirt off your gloves before stowing them with your other tools. You looked up into the sky as you watched the clouds roll over. You looked down at the seeds you just planted and smiled. You didn’t need to water them since luck was on your side today.
You entered inside happily and set up your gardening tools, but in a minute, your happiness was replaced with a worried frown. You glanced at the door, 1x1x1x1 should be coming home by now…and what you mean by “should” is that you want him home right now. There was never a set time on when he came home, it could be eight in the morning or five in the evening and he would come home. You never thought much of it.
But now, it has been almost a day and he has still not come home yet. The worst thing is, he would often walk home from his work “place” so you would have no idea what could happen to him on his walk back. You shook your head like trying to shake off the thoughts and worries. It worked, but the feelings lingered.
As you were scrolling for something to make for dinner, there were a couple of soft knocks at your door. At first, you thought it was the rain since it began to lightly pour down on the roof. But something in your gut told you that it was not the rain this time. You stared at the door from the kitchen before you put down your phone.
You approached the door and unlocked it before opening it. Eyes widening in pure dismay.
You were met with the sight of your drenched husband, 1x1x1x1 injured in his side. A large bleeding gash cut through his see-through waist, was visible from underneath his blood-stained hand that was pressing against it. His other hand dragged along his Dæmonshank. Blood dripped from the tear and from his forehead. The green, domino crown crooked. He breathed heavily. The red cape behind him tattered. Your lover looked half on the brink of death.
Before you had time to utter anything, he completely collapsed forward—the sword clattering onto the ground outside and his other hand slipping away from his wound. His crown fell as well. Out of sheer panic, you tried to catch him before he fell face-first onto the hard ground. And you were hit with the very real heaviness of him.
“ Goodness gracio-! “
You grunted. And out of a miracle, you were able to lift him up and inch him to the couch. Blood trailing onto the floor of your once calm home. You laid him down as gently as possible for holding up a over 200lb, 6’foot man with pure adrenaline. Still, that would not fix the aggregated wound on his forehead and waist.
You squeaked in desperation as you sprinted down the hallway of your shared home to retrieve the emergency kit you kept. 1x1x1x1 had no idea of this kit, but you always had it. You actually had a whole cabinet based on medical items. You took various things from it.
You ran back to your partner on the couch and sat down in front of it—laying down everything out to your reach as you began with shaky hands to put firm pressure on the waist slash a clean cloth. Your breath hitching as blood seeped through that. Yet, you stayed gripping onto the strip of calmness as you put more clean cloth on top of that.
The bleeding seemed to cease ten minutes later. You looked up, checking to see if 1x1x1x1 was still breathing. He was still, heavily. The forehead cut looked like it patched itself up. The blood that was once trailing down his temple was already browning.
You didn’t know if he was feeling all of this, but you hoped he wasn’t for this next part. You were wrong.
You got out antiseptic and bit your lip as you lifted up the cloth and began to clean around it. You heard a harsh hiss from 1x1x1x1 as he immediately jerked back from it. His breathing speeding up like a bull being struck. You winced as he did. Guilt washed over you but you knew this had to get done.
You said repeated apologies as you did this. Hearing every hiss and whine and grunt from 1x1x1x1 as you disinfected his nasty wound. Your eyebrows furrowed further with each sound.
You finally finished and decided that this injury needed stitches for it to heal properly. So that’s what you did, gave your lover stitches.
You pulled out a numbing wipe and wiped around the gash. 1x1x1x1 groaned, yet he did not do anything. It was weird and almost scary to see him like this. Your husband was always the one to jump up at anything—to fight against anything that went against him. And now, he was lying here, lost of his strength. You wondered what did this to him?
You started to stitch the large cut up. Black string and a sharp needle were the ones that did the job. You obviously didn’t pull the stitches tight, just enough that it would heal in the right direction. After that, you finished it up with bandage wrapped around your lover’s waist to ensure that it would heal. You looked down at your work and then you were suddenly hit with a cool breeze. Reminding you that the front door was still wide open.
You glanced back, the rain was pouring down harshly now. 1x1x1x1’s crown and Dæmonshank were still out there. You felt this sense of urgentness. That sword was dear to your husband so it made it dear to you. You looked back at him before you hurriedly approached the door.
The things were still there, to your relief. You grabbed the soaked items and set them on your welcome mat before hurrying to get a towel to put them inside without getting water all over the place.
You retrieved a towel and set it on the floor before setting the rain-stricken items on it to dry them. You then finally shut the door, locking it. You then noticed the blood trail from the door to the couch. You figured to clean it up later, it wasn’t hurting anyone. It could be cleaned.
You went over to your husband again, looking at his somewhat peaceful facial expression as he laid there. You brought your fingers to trail along his jaw line. Your eyes caught the dried blood on his forehead. You sighed before going to get a wet cloth.
You cleaned up the blood on his temple, forehead, and the blood around the scratch before looking for a band-aid inside your first aid kit. 1x1x1x1 then chose this time to regain some form of consciousness.
He groaned as he tried to sit up only to wince through his still closed eye—like his body was reacting before his mind was. Your eyes widened before you gently pushed him back down, protesting.
“ No- no no- “
1x1x1x1 made a sound like a distressed, overgrown toddler. His one eye blinked open, and his flare returned…yet it was dimmed. His eye looked around, down at his bandaged waist, his Dæmonshank and crown on the floor near the door, and you, sitting on the floor with a medical kit. His head pounded. He snarled as you put the band-aid onto his forehead.
“ What did…you do? “
1x1x1x1 demanded, though his voice came out as more of a weak question. He couldn’t help but get angry at that. Pathetic.
“ I patched you up. Now, I should be asking the same from you. “
You properly stated as you cleaned up the medical equipment before standing up with your hands on your hips. Leaning to one side with a stern look on your face. 1x1x1x1 just stayed silent, staring at you before huffing stubbornly and turning his head away.
“ I hate you. “
You blinked in boredom at the side of his head. Thunder boomed in the distance. You couldn’t help but feel irritated. You wanted answers on why he came in like this in the first place. On why you had to stitch up a whole gash like you were some medical doctor. You weren’t one in the first place. And once you tried to get some answers out of him he states once again that he hates you?
1x1x1x1 was like that, often using harsh words or statements to show his love. You became immune to it eventually. You wondered about that if his hate statements were replaced with “ I love you “ what would happen. You came to the conclusion that he would probably implode.
“ Okay whatever, just don’t get up. “
You snorted with a “ Tch “ as you took the medkit and walked away.
There was no word from 1x1x1x1 from the couch.
ㅤᘒ —————ㅤ ᘒ
It had been around an hour since you walked out on 1x1x1x1. You were laying in your shared bed reading a book you had been chewing along. Irritation still lingered as you glanced over at the half-cracked door of the bedroom. It was silent out there except for the slowing rain. You brushed it off and kept reading.
Out of your surprise, 1x1x1x1 appeared in the doorway, slightly bracing himself on it. Still no crown or sword, cape gone as well this time.
You once again had no time to register before he took a few steps and fully fell on top of you. But this time it was intentional.
His head went up to nuzzle into the center of your chest, head in between your breasts. His arms wrapped under you as he practically crushed you with his weight. You tensed. 1x1x1x1 was never the type to do physical affection, so this shook you. Yet, you felt this warmth envelope you as he did wrap his hands under your back. Your earlier irritation dissipated. You were hesitant to hug him back cause of his still very visible bandage.
1x1x1x1 was always a bit rough with his movements, but you were worried on how this affected him instead of you. Then again, this intimacy was rare between you two. Though, you couldn’t help but instinctively run your hands through his messy ponytail of white hair.
“ What’s gotten into you..? You’re gonna tear your stitches. “
You said breathlessly, looking down at him still laying on your chest. Your book was discarded. He didn’t answer. He then brought his head up to look at you straight. His flare of an eye gleaming brighter at the sight of you. His normal eye, narrowing.
“ Can I not engage with my lover? “
1x1x1x1 said. A deep, purr of a tone that unlocked something inside of inside you. His arms snaked out from under you and began to run down the sides of your waist, still keeping eye contact with you. You looked into his eyes. This was so weird, but it didn’t feel foreign.
“ You’re being weird. “
You stated, yet your voice was quiet. Your hands still stroked through his hair. 1x1x1x1 let out a sharp laugh before laying his head down again against your chest. His hands rubbing up and down your waist before sliding under you again—holding you tight.
“ Are you drunk? “
You would jokingly ask as your hands fell from his hair and settled on his shoulders. 1x1x1x1 would hum at this. There was a warm silence before he would answer.
“ I just want to love you. “
You would completely stop at this. Breath pausing. Even your heart seemed to stop. You believed that he had only said this two times within your time with him. One on your wedding and the other one is now. And boy did you relish every letter. You couldn’t answer, just grab his shoulders tighter to pull him closer. Breath shaky.
“ I…love you too. “
And you both laid there. Eyes closed. Breathing calm. And the air filled with rare lightness you wouldn’t see in this forsakened world. The rain seemed to slow down along with the both of you. The only sign of it being the small pattering rhythm against the bedroom window. Sunlight began to peak through the sky. It’s like the Spectre didn’t attack 1x1x1x1 that day after all.

Among the bushes surrounding a small, pale house, Guest 1337 would sit with binoculars pointed at a window of a bedroom. Two figures lay inside. He passed them off to the man beside him with a furrowed brow. He ran a hand through his damp, blue hair.
“ I’ll be damned, It seems like 1x does have a lover. “
He sighed, expecting a comment from the man beside him. There was no comment. Guest looked beside him
Shedlestky just held the binoculars against his eyes for a comically long time. Guest blinked. Shedlestky finally took the binoculars off of his eyes. His eyes squinted like he didn’t know what he was looking at. He he handed the spy-glasses back to Guest while still staring at the window. Guest brought his eyes to the window again. There was another beat of silence before Shedlestky finally muttered.
“ Huh.. “
