Summary:

Egg is learning about and kind of studying Wemmbu, his best friend, who's also a god

Or

Egg lowkey just asking Wemmbu a sht ton of questions cause he's curious about Wemmbu's divinity

Notes:

Enjoy!

Directly after ‘Devotion’ btw, I suggest you read that first if you haven't
Also yes I’m deciding to make this a series now, the idea has been implanted into my head and won’t leave ^^

(sorry not sorry that this one isn't as long, I wanted it to be but I lowkey couldn't figure out how, lol. Still close enough to 1k words though, so oh well)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“So… What’s your first question?” Wemmbu queried with a light hum.

“Psshh.. Let’s see,” Egg murmured, lightly tapping the end of his quill on the first page he had open. “Just to double check things first; you’re a chaos and cyclist deity, right?”

“Mhm,” Wemmbu nodded. “The cycle part also kind of comes with time, seasons, recreation n’ other stuff.”

“Recreation?” Egg deadpanned, raising a brow.

“The cycle of life, death, destruction, and recreation,” Wemmbu shrugged. “Things get broken and rebuilt all the time. Like when we made Zam’s colony, or your empire.”

“Huh,” Egg hummed. He soon enough wrote down all he needed from that. Honestly Wemmbu being a literal god of chaos, and yet also having control over recreation is a little ironic. “Next question.. Are you a primordial god or not?”

“Lowkey I have no idea,” the god looked away, “I’ve always just assumed I’m primordial, cause I have no idea who my parents would be if I wasn’t.”

“Intresting,” the angel murmured, writing. “How old are you, then?”

“Y’know, I’ve never actually kept track,” Wemmbu said. “Somewhere in the hundreds. Definitely older than you, though.”

From there it was a lot of back and forth. Egg asked plenty of questions, some of which he forgot to write down and would need to later. Somewhere near the end of the questioning he repeated all he wrote down to Wemmbu, to make sure he got everything right.

Wemmbu has domains mainly in chaos and cycles. Which can then include time, seasons, recreation, destruction, life, death, and possibly more.

It’s unknown if he’s a primordial deity or not, though it's likely.

His actual age is likely in the hundreds or thousands, though he often takes the form of someone in their early twenties.

He is immortal, but he takes forms that can die. If the form dies then he respawns in another form, or his true form.

His true form has ichor as blood, similar to angels. His mortal/casual forms bleed whatever the blood of that species is. He prefers to take a demonic avian form for the flight and endurance advantages, as well as he just likes what it looks like (of course).

Currently only myself, other gods, and angels know of his divinity.

He would heavily prefer to keep it that way.

He used to have temples and devotees, though they’ve mostly disappeared or gone into hiding. Not even Wemmbu knows why that happened. It’s also likely that they did not call him ‘Wemmbu,’ otherwise he’d be mentioned in history books or religious texts, and everyone would know he’s a god. When his worshippers were active however, he could hear and sometimes grant prayers.

Those worshippers gave offerings of:

Flowers; mainly chamomile and roses

Candles/Incense; mainly chamomile, lavender, and orange

Food; mainly honey, fruits, and deserts

Drinks; mainly tea

Various items; leaves, ferns, jewelry, and other trinkets.

Poems, hymns, and other music

(And yes, despite constant refusal, Wemmbu does keep as many of his offerings as he can because he likes them.)

In his true form he has pink tattoos that represent his domains. Apparently he keeps these hidden, because as a more minor (and partly forgotten) god you can’t tell what his domains are at first glance, so he wants to keep the mystery and guesswork. Which is very Wemmbu of him, by the way.

His mortal forms have cores that are that same pink color. The gem in his tiara is a perfect example. Other times the core is a part of his body, such as his eye(s) or a crystal in his chest. If that core is broken then his mortal form immediately dies, and he respawns in his true form.

“Yeah, seems all correct,” Wemmbu hummed once Egg was done.

“Great,” the angel grinned. “I’ll write down what I missed later.”

“D’alright,” the god shrugged.

“One last question though,” Egg said.

“Finally bro, it’s like I’m being interrogated,” Wemmbu huffed out a laugh. “What’s the final question?”

“Why do you like..” the angel paused, trying to figure out how to word this. He’d been wondering about it for a while, so.. “You keep doing all these small things around me that’s making it seem like I’m the god between us.”

“..Like what?” Wemmbu queried, looking away.

Egg himself looked away too, glancing more at his book and the pages. “I mean you leave me little gifts all the time, you get me almost any item I want- like the shields for example -and sometimes you bow your head when I go into the same room as you. Those kinds of things.”

“Oohhh…” The god murmured. When Egg looked up he could see how his best friend looked mildly embarrassed. “You weren’t meant to notice that…”

“Well I did,” the angel snickered lightly. “So what’s up with that stuff?”

“..Nothing,” Wemmbu said. Which was very clearly a lie.

“Brother.”

“It’s nothing, trust!”

“Dude, it’s very obviously something if you’ve been doing it since the mafia days,”

“How did you even notice for that long??”

“Cause I see everything!”

“You can’t be saying that when you couldn’t see one foot in front of yourself in the Caves-”

Somehow, the argument lasted for much longer than anticipated. And Wemmbu still avoided answering that singular question. But no worries, Egg would get his answer one day. He hoped, at least.

Right now he had to go back and write a few more things he missed.

Notes:

Hope you enjoyed!

Fun fact: Egg wrote his notebook of God!Wemmbu in Ancient Angelic (enchantment table language [hc]), and then cyphered it, so if someone discovers it somehow then they likely won’t be able to read it, which will hopefully keep the secret more intact :]
Not so fun fact: Wemmbu wasn’t actually born a god; he was instead forced into one when he was little. Because of how long it’s been he has zero memories of that happening, so he just assumes he’s primordial
Fun fact two!: Wemmbu’s true form (specifically the clothes and accessories) are made up of his favorite offerings

Feel free to ask your own questions abt God!Wemmbu in the comments, and I’ll likely answer them (using the excuse that it was something Egg wrote down later, cause he totally asked more I just cannot think of what he would ask bro-) :]

With all that said, have a good day/night/whatever time it is for you! :]
