Want to know a secret?
Most people assume that Wemmbu is a demon. Or an avian. Or some kind of mix. Some people have even wondered if he was an ender dragon hybrid, or a blob. A few people have questioned if he was somehow an alien hybrid, or a voidling. Maybe a changeling.
The truth, however? What he actually is?
Wemmbu’s a god.
A chaos and cyclic god, specifically.
Why do you think destruction always follows him? Or why he and Egg are always in such similar, familiar situations? It’s Wemmbu’s own divine influence; though almost never on purpose. Believe it or not, he would really rather not have to keep saving his best friend because he got kidnapped. But, the cycle repeats.
Eggchan on the other hand, well. Most people think of an avian at first. Some people have even managed to wonder if he was an angelic variant of a demon. Not many of those left, though. Those who assume he’s an angel are more accurate, however. Specifically a seraphim, the highest in the hierarchy. And even though he’s Fallen, doesn’t mean he no longer has authority. He just never uses it. Egg’s fairly certain he’s the only one who knows about his best friend being a god. Besides other deities and angels, of course.
But why would any of this be important?
Well, Egg’s been wondering about something for quite a long time. Technically and socially speaking, he should be worshipping Wemmbu. Or at least acknowledging his status as a divine figure. And he does acknowledge his best friend’s divinity, just like- not as much as most angels would?
And yet, for some reason, it’s almost like.. Wemmbu is worshipping Egg, sometimes?
It’s not obvious, to most it would barely count as worship anyways, but Egg has noticed it a few times. Quiet words that sound oddly like prayers, subtly bowing his head slightly when Egg enters a room, leaving small gifts. Also, it wasn’t too much of a surprise that Wemmbu spoiled Egg a ‘little’. Getting him books he asked for, the shields he liked collecting, ink and quills when he was getting low, and more.
It was weird, in the seraphim’s opinion. It’s not that he hated it, he just found it very.. Confusing. Also, they were best friends and acted like brothers a lot, so it just made it a little more weird, if Egg is being honest? If he were doing those things it would probably feel natural because of the hierarchy, but it would feel very odd because of their normal relationship.
“Egg?”
The angel looked up, broken out of his thoughts. “Hm-?”
He and Wemmbu were sitting on the ground, in a flowery meadow near their treehouse. It was past midday by now, but not quite the evening. Sunset would be in a few hours.
“You alright?” Wemmbu queried. He was in his demonic avian form, like usual.
“Yeah, just thinking,” Egg shrugged.
“Pft, when are you not thinking?” The god snorted, though there was no heat behind it.
Egg just rolled his eyes playfully. “What have you been doing while I was thinking?”
“Cloud watching,” Wemmbu answered easily.
“Ah, makes sense,” Egg hummed, wings twitching.
“When was the last time you preened your wings, by the way?”
“Last night.”
“May I preen them?”
“Uh, sure,” Egg shrugged.
Well, this might as well be another thing to add to the growing list Egg was silently making. Maybe he should write this stuff down- just a book about things he notices that Wemmbu does. Yeah, that could work. He could definitely fill like four pages right off the bat. Maybe more, depending on if he properly writes or just does bullet points.
Actually, Egg didn’t know all that much about Wemmbu regarding his godhood. Sure, the seraphim knew that his best friend is a god and what his domains are, but not much else. Does he have divine parents, or is he a primordial deity? Is he immortal? How old actually is he, if he is immortal? Surely somewhere in the hundreds at the very least, right? Egg himself was probably around there, honestly. Maybe older, he never really kept track.
Now that the seraphim really thinks about it, what was Wemmbu’s true form? Was he currently just in a mortal form, or was it more of a vessel or puppet? What would happen if he died in his casual appearance?
“You’re thinking really loudly,” Wemmbu hummed.
“Am I?” Egg lightly teased.
“I can practically see the steam coming from your head bro,” the god said, a grin obvious in his tone.
Egg just giggled quietly while trying to keep his wings still.
“Can I preen your headwings too?” Wemmbu queried once he was done with the angel’s regular wings.
“Sure bro,” he shrugged. “I should probably preen them more often, actually.” Wemmbu simply hummed in acknowledgement before carefully going to preen the wings on Egg’s head.
It was a nice quiet for a few moments. With just the occasional breeze and shift of the grass and flowers. A small group of birds flew overhead at some point, quietly squawking.
Quiet moments like this were rare for the duo, obviously. They still happened, just.. Not as often as they would like. Egg was just glad to finally be free of the Caves, honestly. He knew that Wemmbu was too, it was easy to see how exhausted he was once they finally got back to the treehouse. Which was somehow still intact.
The current question for just how long that quiet would last. Hopefully for a decent amount of time before fate threw them back into the wringer. The two of them both needed to be updated on whatever’s going on in the main server, honestly. They didn’t entirely know if Parrot was still king or not.
Also, where in the world was Flame and Spoke? Egg and Wemmbu hadn’t seen Spoke in.. Pshh- months now, probably? And last time they saw Flame was when he was helping them with overthrowing Arachn1d, and that was like. A week or so ago, or something.
Egg eventually let out a silent sigh, tired of thinking. Which was actually impossible, he could almost never be tired of thinking. Instead, the angel simply shifted his attention.
Wemmbu was close to being done with preening his headwings. There was still that gentle breeze that made the grass and flowers sway a little. The clouds continued to walk around the blue sky, and the sun was still making its way down to go under the horizon.
Still quiet, still peaceful, still a relaxing moment. It was nice.
“Hey Egg,” Wemmbu hummed, nearly done with the last headwind.
“Yeah?”
“What were you thinking about earlier?”
“You,” Egg shrugged. Then quickly elaborated by saying, “like your godhood stuff.”
“Really?” Wemmbu queried, sounding surprised. He was probably tilting his head to the side a little, like he normally does when asking a genuine question.
“Yeah, cause I like- I know some things. But there’s still a lot of things that I don’t know.”
“Ask away.”
Egg turned his head around, as his best friend was finished preening his wings. “Really?”
“Mhm,” the god hummed. He was sat criss-crossed now, elbows on his knees and his chin resting on his folded hands. The sun behind him made it look like he was glowing, which Egg found a little funny.
“Even if it's personal?” Egg asked hesitantly.
“If I don’t want to answer, I will simply not answer,” Wemmbu shrugged.
“..Alright,” the angel murmured. “Can I write it down?”
“Fine, but you show no one,” his best friend sighed.
Egg just grinned and pulled out a book and quill.
