Chapter Text
Flowery doesn't remember entering Castle Town.
He doesn't remember his unconscious body being rushed through Castle Town by two very panicked kids.
He doesn't remember those kids struggling to keep him out of view of other darkners who might be nearby.
He doesn't remember them carrying him up the castle stairs and putting him in a bed before giving him a few healing spells.
…But he certainly does remember sitting against that tree, body split clean in half, while golden flowers obscured the vines and chlorophyll, mimicking guts and blood, that spilled onto the floor around him. In fact, he's pretty sure he's supposed to be dead.
So when he feels himself begin to drift back into consciousness, his first thought is that maybe that didn't actually happen. Maybe it was all just a dream. Maybe…
Maybe he's okay.
That was, until he blearily blinked his eyes open to an unfamiliar ceiling.
Flowery abruptly sat upright in a panic, immediately regretting it when a searing pain tore through his torso and shoulder. Suppressing a yelp, his hand shot up to his wound. His fingers touched something smooth, almost plasticky. He looks down and sees his wound covered with some kind of clear sticky wrapping, slightly pulled loose by his sudden movement. he notices some chlorophyll leaking through the gaps.
He breathes as he looks back up, the pain dulling with it. He decides to take note of his surroundings. The room he's in is small; it only contained a bed, a wardrobe, a fuzzy rug that looked almost like grass, various strange miscellaneous items, and a plush of— oh, this must be Ralsei's room.
As he sat on the edge of the bed and gained his bearings, he began to calm down. His breathing began to even out, and he started to quietly hum. As he continued to sit, he started to think. and Flowery being alone with his thoughts was never good.
He started to think about his dark world.
About his bouquet.
He started to wonder if they were okay.
If they were wherever he was.
He stopped humming.
He wonders If they never made it here with him.
He quickly cut off that thought. He began another.
He wondered how long he'd been asleep.
Wondered if whatever the kids had done to keep him together would keep keeping him together.
Wondered if he was going to survive.
…He had his doubts.
The longer he sat there, the more his thoughts twisted and tangled like vines. Twisting around him and choking him out like weeds. Constricting his lungs until he could no longer breathe.
Flowery snapped himself out of his spiral with a sharp inhale. Usually, he was able to find something to distract himself from his thoughts with back in his dark world, wether it be hanging out with the other Flowers, messing with the other flower kingdom inhabitants, bothering Ralsei and the Lightners, talking to Asgore…
Asgore.
…Right.
Flowery decided he needed air. as he attempted to stand however, the shooting pain from his torso sat him right back down. A quiet wheeze of pain left him as he looked around for something that could help him stand.
He noticed something laying on the ground near his feet.
Reaching down, he was able to grab the object with only slight pain and difficulty. He looked at the object in his hand as he sat back upright. It was some kind of stick, made of wood, about half his height long, and had a curve that ended in a spiral on one end, forming a handle.
Slowly, He stood, using the stick to support his weight. It still hurt, but not as much as it would have if his full core strength was being utilized. He decided to walk a lap around the room to get used to walking. When he was done, he began walking towards the door, wincing slightly when he accidentally twists his torso wrong. If anything, the pain does help distract him from his thoughts.
He cracks open the door and peeks out, and when he doesn't see anyone outside, he leaves and begins walking down the hall. After passing a few… interesting doors, he arrives at the top of the stairs. He exhales through his nose.
"Oh, stairs! Right, haha, of course! Of course there's stairs, why wouldn't there be?" He smiles, gritting his teeth. He stands there, trying to process how he would get down without making his injury worse. He sighs before attempting to inch himself down the stairs along the wall.
Flowery eventually makes it to the bottom of the stairs with only a little suffering. He sits down on the bottom step for a moment and takes a breath, giving himself a small rest, before standing back up again and continuing down the hall. He passes a couple more doors, this time with a few he thinks might be Kris and Susie's. He reaches the end of the hall and stops, staring at the second set of stairs in front of him.
"you've got to be kidding me," He mumbles as he drags his hand down his face.
