Starting Now

Summary:

After a year of silence, longing and wondering if they'd ever see each other again; Phat and Kay finally cross paths, and the tension between them is lethal.

Notes:

Scary how fast time moves. Can't believe Mr. Kill already ended. Gonna miss that show. I'll keep it loud and alive through fanfics;D
Here's what what I imagined happened after that ending we saw in episode 10.
Hope you'll like it:))

Work Text:

Phat leans back against the graffiti wall, a cigarette dangling between his fingers. "You got a lighter?"

Kay looks at him. Phat stares back. Their gazes lock.

The air between them is filled with a year's worth of longing, of searching, of words they each wished they'd said. A year of mutual pining, and unresolved tension that never faded one bit no matter how hard they tried to forget. They steal glances at each other while standing there, hearts racing, trying not to give into the pull that’s between them.

Five seconds stretch like an eternity, and then Phat moves, stepping in front of Kay, one hand cupping the nape of his neck, standing so close their noses touch. He looks into Kay's eyes, searching, breathless. Kay stares back, lips parted, words he dares not say at the tip of his tongue.

Another few seconds pass before Kay breaks the silence, his soft voice full of longing. "I missed you, Phat."

That's all the permission Phat needs.

He covers Kay's lips with his own, kissing him hard, pouring every sleepless night, every unanswered text or phone call, every moment of regret into this touch. Kay tilts his head, parting his lips, letting Phat kiss him deeper. His hands settle on Phat's hips, pulling him close, fingers curling into the fabric of his jeans.

Phat's tongue slides against Kay's, hot and demanding, tasting the faint smoke of the unlit cigarette. Kay moans softly, his fingers tightening, pulling Phat even closer. Phat licks into his mouth, deepening the kiss, claiming him. Kay's tongue meets his, sliding against it, hungrily and desperately chasing the heat.

They break apart just long enough to gasp for air. Phat's lips find Kay's again, kissing him hard, then pulling back to look at him, eyes dark with want.

"If you ever leave again," Phat growls between kisses, "I'll kill you."

Kay smiles, breathless, lips swollen. "You'd never."

Phat pulls back, biting his own bruised lower lip. He lifts an eyebrow at Kay. "I might."

He lightly punches Kay on the shoulder. "You ditched me, man. What the fuck. That shit hurt."

Kay winces but keeps smiling. “I’m sorry.”

"You didn't even think of Lila and Mali."

Kay blinks. "Who?"

"Your cats." Phat's voice gentles with fondness. "I adopted them."

Kay stares at him, disbelief on his face. "I went to visit and just thought they'd left that place."

Phat shakes his head. "Couldn't leave them there."

Before Phat can say another word, Kay kisses him with all his heart because he’s so utterly touched that Phat cared that much, did that for him, kept their babies safe. His heart swells in his chest.

When they pull back, Kay touches Phat's cheek, thumb tracing the sharp line of his jaw. "I'll make it all up to you."

Phat grins. "Of course you will." He playfully yanks Kay by his hoodie. "Starting now."

He drags Kay along, not letting go.

Kay steps inside Phat’s house, behind Phat, looking around- and then two small furballs dart toward him.

His family whom he never got a chance to name. Now Lila and Mali.

Kay's face splits into the widest smile that Phat has ever seen on his face. He crouches down, scooping them up, cooing softly as they nuzzle against him. "I missed you guys. Still so cute."

Phat crosses his arms, leaning against the wall, watching fondly.

"Which one is which?" Kay asks, still cradling them.

"Lila's the tuxedo one. Mali's the loud one."

Kay laughs as Mali meows insistently, pawing at his chin. "Still demanding, huh?"

Phat enjoys watching the moment for a few more minutes then he clears his throat, "That's cute and all, but if it's all the same to you, I'd like to catch up too. You promised to make it up to me."

Kay gently sets the cats down and stands, dusting the fur off his hoodie a bit as he turns to face Phat.

Phat smiles, slow and deliberate. He walks up to Kay and gently pushes him onto the couch. Then he immediately straddles his lap, settling close.

Kay's eyes are already dazed with longing as he watches Phat's every move. His hands settle on Phat's waist immediately, fingers finding the warmth of his skin beneath his shirt.

Phat leans down, cupping Kay's face, thumb stroking his cheek. "Shall we start writing that happy ending now?"

Kay nods, breathless. "Shall I?" His voice drops, heavy with double meaning. "You'll definitely get a very happy ending." He reaches up with one hand. He gently tugs Phat's head down and kisses him, deep and in a way that screams finally.
