“Have you been drinking before we met?” Sunday asks.
Aventurine snorts, frustratingly at ease. “It’s no big deal. There was this company party, that’s all. I’ve been wide awake long before I got here.”
“Awake, you say? Yet your first action upon seeing me was to lift me off the floor and carry me away like a sack of potatoes.”
Sunday finds it regrettably easy to feel the rising heat in his ears when Aventurine laughs at the accusation. “Oooh,” he drawls, a melodic trill vibrating at the base of his throat. “So this is what made you so flustered.”
