Expectations say that Johnny, the damn well-known, nearly famous Jockey, really shouldn't be a hockey fan, but here he was, at a hockey game. Watching his boyfriend play to win the Stanley Cup for Toronto, he was playing against the NYC team. Buncha fucking misfits is what he thinks of them. Didn't exactly help that one of the members, Franz, was really into antagonising him.
He was a freak of nature already, built like a damn wall and extraordinarily tall to add it all, the other teammates were also weirdos, to a lesser degree however. Gyro would be cool with them if they didn't mock him, talking shit whenever possible and any damn miss or fumble is immediately called out by 'em. They had to be jealous of him, rivalries isn't enough to justify behaviour like this.
The stress of the importance of this match really only added onto the frustrations, he should focus on himself, he should relax, this'll only ruin his chances of playing well. Across the rink, he overheard Franz blurt out "Playing for his boyfriend? Höhö, maybe he'll get some pity sex when he loses." Okay then, fuck it, gloves off to swing on that son of a bitch.
The German player didn't take kindly to being punched in the gut, retaliating immediately, which caused Gyro to be knocked out and some blood to spurt out of his mouth, he was launched across the ice onto the other side. Disqualifying himself and Franz in the span of two damn minutes. Was it worthwhile? No. But it did feel fucking good to do something instead of just taking the smack talk.
......
He woke up in a hospital room, feeling cold, with his head pounding in pain. His dearest Johnny was there though, that's all that matters. Not to the Joestar, he was worried sick about his partner, if he was okay, what would happen next, so many questions to be answered.
"Gyro! You're awake!"
"Yes... But stop yelling, my head hurts."
"Do you feel okay? Is anything out of the ordinary? Doctors said it was a miracle that you didn't get any brain damage but I don't believe them."
"Nyo-ho.. yes I'm fine, my head hurts a little. What happened?"
"Well, uh... Franz decided that he didn't just wanna lightly punch ya, damn kraut decked ya across the rink. Both y'all got disqualified."
"Oh."
"You're a real sweetheart, but ya got a real short temper, dear."
"Mio caro, I'm sorry."
"Sorry? Ya could've been seriously hurt!"
"I know... I just..."
"Ya what? I was supposed be at the game watching ya win for us, looking all smooth, suave with it. But y'all got your boy out here doing this!"
"We shouldn't argue. But I had to do it, he wronged you too."
"Wha? Whatcha talking about?"
"He said that you'll "give me pity sex when I eventually lose" to them."
Johnny's face lit bright red at the comment. Firstly, it inappropriate as all high hell. Secondly, it was none of his business. Thirdly, why the fuck would it be his business? Fourthly, Toronto is 100% winning, NYC isn't winning jack shit this season. They talked back n' forth about how he should be banned this season, not just for knocking out another player, but also for making such comments about another player. Banter is usually okay, but there has to be some level where it isn't.
In the middle of their conversation, they heard some knocking on the door. Who would even be visiting them? Their friends, maybe? Perhaps the coach to checkup on his player, another teammate is also a possibility. But it was actually Franz, the hulking man put away his sunglasses to look at them both directly.
"Fuck you doing here, Kraut?" Gyro spat out in a venomous tone.
"Calm down, jackass. I am here to apologise."
"Wha-"
"I hurt you. And by Jewish law, I should apologise directly, no excuses for my actions."
"I see... Che tipo strano."
"I am sorry I knocked you out, I... also apologise for ruining your Stanley Cup game by causing you ti be disqualified for your health problems that I caused."
"Le chiacchiere non costano nulla, tedesco."
"I do not expect you to accept it, but I did what my faith requires and I do feel bad. Auf Wiedersehen, Gyro."
As Franz left the room, Johnny turned to Gyro, asking why he just pulled up to say sorry in a couple different ways, and leave. Only to be met by tired shrugging. Well that's that, maybe their next meeting is gonna be less awkward, so they could talk about it.

It has been a solid week since what happened. It was at the back of their minds, they just wanted to enjoy their spring afternoon together, humming Christmas songs while on a stroll, this time they took Marco with them. The kid was just happy to be with his dad's and to smell the newly blooming flowers.
Even though Johnny kept telling him to not get too close or a spider will bite him. They were planning in enrolling him in some hockey classes when the new season starts, maybe he'll be like his papa, Gyro. Maybe he'll be even better than him, who knows.
Although this fun family time together would be cut short by them encouraging Franz again, who was busy in a nearby rink, blatantly trying too hard on some people there for fun. His eyes widened when he saw his opponent n' family, just out about with their kid.
"Oy! Zeppeli!" He yelled out towards them, unfortunately getting their attention, little ol' Marco was fascinated that someone knew his dad! He thought maybe they're friends, and they really didn't wanna shatter his dreams, so they told him to say hi to him. Immediately he ran towards the edge of the wall, telling Martin that his name is "Marco! Wha yours, sir?"
"Sir? I'm only twenty nine, little one."
"Woahh, chu is old! Older than daddy!"
"Yes, yes. Your daddy is quite young, but he's a professional."
"Wha dat mean?"
"He's smart. He play good."
He watched as the dots connected in the kid's mind, causing him to laugh gleefully. It was rather cute to witness, and they thought so as well. Johnny picked up the kid to carry him, Gyro just talked with Franz about random shit.
"Why you still in Toronto? Thought you'd leave since, y'know."
"I know. But my team is still here, so I just stuck around, ja? Got a problem?"
"I'm too tired to care. Plus I'm with my kid, so don't start anything."
"I won't. I wanna be a good example for Der Kleine."
"Sure... You. Good example. Totally."
"Blah, you are no fun, Gyro. Anyways, I got business to attend to."
"Is it pump-fakin' others here?"
"Ja, Is fun. See ya around next season. Maybe we'll be on the same team."
Certainly a conversation of all time, he just went back to Johnny and Marco, taking their hands to walk down the rest of the park together. Eventually finding a nice shade covered bench to sit down together, admiring the leaves.
"Hey... JoJo."
"Hmm? What is it?"
He turned his head to look at his partner, only for him to kiss him gently on the lips. Whilst they were distracted being all kissy kissy, Marco audibly told them "eww. Chu kissed daddy! You'll get cooties!" Which got a shy chuckle out of both parties, how they loved his silly moments and joyful innocence about the world. Maybe he'll turn out to be one of the few Hockey players with a decent attitude and an actual sense of humour.
Only would be the teller of such a possibility, they felt the rest of their afternoon having a fun time, until it started to rain, which hurried them into a nearby café. They needed a warm drink anyways, and little ol' Marco was antsy for some hot chocolate. All's well and end's well.
