Chapter Text
Wile E. Coyote thought he had finally caught what he had been chasing for so long. He would be able to prove Kevin wrong, he was actually capable of catching him!
He had his fingers curled around the roadrunners throat, and it was only once he started to squeeze that he realized it was a fake.
Even before the confusion came in, the first thing that the coyote felt was despair. Because in that moment, it didn’t matter why there was a fake roadrunner in DC, all that mattered was that Kevin was right and that he didn’t catch him.
Unfortunately, by the time Wile E’s logic caught up with him and he started to question it, he felt a familiar pain in his head before he was squished and the world went dark.
When Wile E Coyote finally awoke, the first thing he noticed was that he felt…off. It wasn’t a feeling he could immediately place or describe…just that it was….wrong.
He gathered up the strength to open his eyes and was met with a sterile looking room. The coyote hadn’t seen much outside of the desert but the room he was in reminded him of the medical or interrogation rooms he had seen on tvs. He also noticed that his arms were bound to the table in front of him and his feet were tied to the chair.
There was also some sort of machine pointing at him from the corner of the room. It kind of looked like a gun or a weapon of some kind but it didn’t quite have the right shape for that. He continued looking at it, trying to figure out what it was when the wall next to him hissed open and the annoying lawyer from acme they had been fighting walked in.
He grinned smugly at the coyote and asked “Ah coyote, how are you enjoying your restraints?"
He tried to reach for his signs for a sarcastic reply, a snarky comment, anything! But he couldn’t move his hands out of the restraints. Normally he could just grab one from behind his back or from thin air, but now there was nothing. His signs wouldn’t come to him and his hands couldn’t move.
The man must have noticed his struggle or panic because he said “Oh yeah, your cartoon logic? Doesn’t work in here.” He walked over to the machine Wild E. was looking at earlier. “This bad boy makes sure you adhere to the normal rules of physics and logic of the universe. Well…not all of them because we’d like to keep you alive but you know, the kinks are still being worked out.” So that’s why he couldn’t grab his signs. It also explained why he felt so…wrong. It’s because he couldn’t access or do the things he normally could.
The man turned to look back at the coyote with a dangerous glean in his eyes. “You’re actually one of the first test subjects we’ve tried this on. Most of the others….didn’t go too well.” He walked closer until he was standing directly in front of the table coyote was bound to. “You’ve been causing a lot of…isues for us so we’ve decided to take you out of the equation. After all, there can’t be a trial without you in it.”
Wile started back at him with hatred, this man was truly more evil than he thought…but also that didn’t explain everything. If they just wanted him out of the trial, why not kill him? Surely this man must know there are ways to kill a toon.
Almost as if reading his thoughts the man continued. “I considered just killing you, but proper test subjects are just so hard to come by these days.” He paused for a moment to let the coyote process this before continuing. “Well anyways I need to head out now, there’s still a whole legal mess to clean up that you created” He glared at coyote before leaving the room.
Well, this was bad. Really bad. Wile E. was used to plans going awry but this was a whole new level. Normally when things went south something blew up and he was out of commission for at the most a day. But this whole kidnapping thing could disrupt his roadrunner catching for who knows how long! Plus, if he died he would never be able to catch the roadrunner!!!
He started to plan but quickly realized that most of his plans wouldn’t work because they relied on cartoon logic. And as long as that machine was on he didn’t have access to that.
Ok. So step one of the plan had to be get that machine off. Either he could find an opportunity to do it or one of the people would turn it off to run those ‘experiments’ that the man alluded to.
And step 2 was of course, escape. After all it couldn’t be that hard…right?
The roadrunner…was lonely. There was no way around it now. He had tried to pretend that he didn’t care for the first week or so…but even that had been forced.
The coyote had been missing for weeks and the roadrunner had no idea where he was. He had heard that the coyote was going to DC for some bigger trial and that he had never shown up, but since then there had been no news.
For a while the roadrunner thought that the coyote was done with him or that he had gone to go chase after some other prey. But it had been weeks and there was no sign of him. And the roadrunner was sure that no matter where the coyote went or what he did that there would be some kind of commotion. He was a magnet for trouble, there was no way he could have gone somewhere else and the roadrunner not known about it.
He was starting to fear the worst so the roadrunner decided to do something about it. The bird vowed that he would be the one to find the coyote. No matter what.
…
ok…finding coyote….how exactly would he do that….
The roadrunner tried to brainstorm but quickly remembered that he was not the one who came up with plans in their duo.
Well alright then. What would coyote do? Roadrunner quickly ran back to coyote’s cave to look at his plans to go and try to recreate his thought process.
Looking at the piles and piles of failed inventions made the roadrunner’s heart hurt with memories but he didn’t have time to dwell on that right now.
He ran over and took a look at the blueprints. Got it, steps. He could do that. Well, step one would be to talk to the people that coyote was last seen with. Roadrunner hoped that those humans that the coyote was with knew where he was. Now all he had to do was find the humans.
