Summary
The Courts have defeated Koschei—but not without complications. At the height of the war, the Illyrian Military went on strike, and without their support, the victory was a bloody one. One year later, discontent is still high, and Cassian has been tasked with stabilizing Illyria. He spends his days in the war camps pacifying rebellion, and his nights trying to protect his eight-month pregnant mate from the worst of his stress.
Nesta, who had grown accustomed to the hustle-and-bustle of Velaris, thinks she will die of boredom in Windhaven. That is, until one day, an elderly Illyrian female approaches her, clutching a gold necklace with an eight pointed star pendant, begging Nesta to help her find her grandmother’s grave.
Meanwhile, Lucien, having been appointed High Lord of Day in the midst of the war, struggles to rescue his mother from prison in Autumn, and Feyre and Rhysand fight to rebuild trust in the Night Court.
The ensuing adventures will reveal histories and raise questions that will remake the Inner Circle, Illyria, and Prythian as they know it. However, the stewards of the old world will not so easily relinquish to the new.
