There was an expression on Lovino’s face like he was trying to work something out in his mind before he eventually spoke again. “Gilbert, I need to make sure you understand. I didn’t have sex with you to…exploit you for all I could.”
“Right,” Gilbert said, though he wasn’t really following.
“I did it because I wanted it.” He shot him a pointed look. “And you wanted it.”
“And…just to be clear…” Gilbert said, feeling his mouth going dry. “Is that something you’d want again?”
His lips slowly spread out into a smile.
It is 1884 in Germany, and the vampire Lovino returns to help Gilbert with his research, as promised.
