“You deserve better than this.” Echo’s voice comes out in a broken whisper after a long, long moment. “Better than this thing I’ve become.”
“oh, love.” You cry softly. You pull away from him at that, blinking back the tears in your eyes as you cup his face in your hands. You wipe the wet streaks away from his puffy, swollen eyelids, unwavering in your loving, steady hold. You don’t know what to say, mouth pressed into a thin line while you try to find your words.
“...I don't want better than this.” You say, after a long moment. “I just want you, Echo.”
