Chapter Text
Some time had passed since Evil Morty got put into prison, and a ton of stuff had happened since then. Good things and bad things, mostly bad ones though. Maybe that’s why he was thinking about him. Rick had reassured him time and time again about not replacing him with that guy, so he didn’t really think this was about that.
Time prison, he came to know, was absolutely safe. For a few days after the fight he had trouble sleeping, thinking that Evil Morty would break out and come after them again, but eventually that anxiety simmered out- again, thanks to Rick’s reassurance, who told him that prison being semi-decent. He chose to ignore the “semi” part of that, as he knew that was his grandpa’s way of giving high praise.
So, uh. He’d looked it up -using Rick’s stuff, behind his back- and found that he could send mail. They had different rules for it depending on different factors, but in his case, it had to be a college ruled paper and handwritten with a pencil, sent in a white envelope with the needed details. He remembered letting out a sigh of relief, he had already been prepared to sneak around Rick’s garage to find interdimensional ink and a hologram pad or any other weird shit like that.
So, he started writing, then erasing, then writing again, until he was happy with the piece of paper in his hand.

He looked at it for a while and nodded to himself. Filling the details on the envelope was a bit tricky, but he figured it out. The hard part was the garage.
“Hey, uh, garage?” He said. No response. He sighed. “Garage, look. I-I’m Morty. Rick isn’t home right now. I want to send a letter to uh, Time Prison, and-“
“Are you trying to backstab Rick?”
Morty flinched. “What!? No! I’m just- I want to check how Evil Morty is doing, but I know Rick won’t let me and-“
“You’re trying to backstab Rick.”
“No! I-I swear it’s not anything bad! I can even read them out to you, it’s not like we’ll be p-plotting something or anything like that. I just wanna check if the guy is still alive. Please?”
After a short pause, the AI replied. “Alright. I will make an exception, if you make yourself responsible for any consequences that may come from this.”
“S-Sure, I-!” he started replying, a big smile on his face, but got cut off.
“And say ‘I’m a little gay boy sexting my BF’”.
Morty’s smile vanished and he rolled his eyes as he threw his head back with a groan. “J-Jeez, wow, you’re hilarious, huh? A-And so h-hip and trendy with your abbreviations and shit. I’m a little gay boy. Sexting my BF. Whatever. Just don’t tell Rick."
A hologram appeared the moment he said the words. It didn’t have any instructions, so he awkwardly held the letter in front of it, unsure if that was the correct way to do it. Apparently, it was, because the envelope itself became a hologram and then promptly disappeared. He looked down at the floor. Ashes. Huh. He kicked them and spread them around a little bit, they’d blend right in with the rest of the dirt there.
After that, he lowkey forgot about it. How could he not? Over a month had passed, so he assumed that Evil Morty had died or just plain didn’t care enough to reply. So, he moved on. Forgot about it. Fuck him, he’s an asshole who deserves rotting in prison anyways. That’s why he did not light up and accept the letter in a flash as soon as the garage told him he had mail.
Rick had asked him to get something from the garage, so he had to get it and go back to the living room to hand it to him, but first he’d read Evil Morty's reply! He couldn’t stop smiling as he skipped all the warnings about privacy, legal liability, and whatever other bullshit the Time Prison wanted him to read.

He stared at the hologram, then frowned. He grabbed a piece of paper from the garage. “Dear Evil Morty, Fuck you” he wrote, but then huffed, crumpled the paper up in his fist, and threw it into the trash. He didn’t have time for this right now. He grabbed the thing he needed and stormed off.
