   Summary

“You’re tired,” Louis says very softly, and he is right, but Legundo has always been tired.

“I made promises. That I would help tend to their loved ones if not tonight then early tomorrow.”

“Then it will have to be early tomorrow, won’t it?” Louis smiles and his voice takes on an altogether different tone, sweeter. “They are my people. Please rest assured, Doctor, that they frighten easily, but I would never allow anything truly terrible to befall them. One more night without you will do no one any harm.”

or: A travelling doctor comes to Oakhurst. The mayor and his companion decide it's up to them to rescue this poor stray.
