Work Text:

Tony was in the middle of a much-needed cheeseburger. More than one of the Task Force agents glared at him. He smiled obnoxiously when they did and kept chewing. He was down to his last bite when the power went out. He paused to instruct FRIDAY to locate the source of the power outage. At some point it was noted that Cap and Falcon had taken off. It didn’t take a genius to guess they were going to check on Barnes.

It seemed that somehow the Winter Soldier had been activated in the middle of the Joint Counter Terrorist Center, what was supposed to be a secure building. He’d just popped the last bite into his mouth when everyone started evacuating. Natasha came in line with him.

“Please tell me you brought a suit.”

He nearly scoffed. “Sure did,” he said around his burger. His mother would be livid for talking with his mouth full. “It’s a lovely Tom Ford, three-piece, two-button.” He chewed a little more. “I’m an active-duty non-combatant.”

Sharon Carter came running around them. “Follow me.” He followed the two women as they hashed out a plan.

Tony swallowed the remains of his burger as he ducked between one pillar and the next, taking in the Winter Soldier in all his combative glory. If the situation weren’t so dire, he’d actually admire the guy’s competence and dexterity. Maybe when lives weren’t on the line.

“We’re in position,” Natasha’s voice sounded in his ear. He crouched, activating his watch gauntlet.

Standing, he aimed the gauntlet at the Soldier as the man was about to shoot someone with a handgun. The ultrasonic pulse it set off disoriented him and got his attention. Which was then aimed right at Tony. He followed it up with a flash which further distracted and disoriented Barnes just enough for Tony to get up close and attempt to get the gun. Unfortunately, Barnes recovered quickly, causing them to exchange blows. Tony only just managed to close the gauntlet over the end of the gun when it went off. He managed to field strip in with his free hand. The two looked at the pieces, then turned to look back at each other when one of them lost their footing.

One second, they were engaging in hand-to-hand, scuffling over a handgun, the next… the next…

“Tony?”

Someone was talking to him.

“Tony.”

“Mmm-hmmph, a-ah,” he blinked owlishly as the mouth that had just been plundering his moved to his jaw. He could see Natasha and Sharon standing there staring. Nat looked resigned, Sharon like she wasn’t sure what she should be doing.

“Mmmm, cheeseburgers…” a low rumbling voice sounded in his ear. And didn’t that just do things to him.

“Huh?” He blinked, looking around. He suddenly became very aware of the compromising position he was currently in. He was being pressed onto one of the tables, his legs firmly around the Winter Soldier’s waist, one hand threaded in the man’s hair, the other grasping the back of his shirt. Somehow Barnes had managed undo his vest and untuck his shirt, both his flesh and bone hand and his metal one were up under said shirt. He cleared his throat. “Let’s be honest, this isn’t the worst think I’ve been caught do—mmph.” Barnes returned to trying to devour his mouth, leaving Tony making inarticulate noises. None of which sounded the least bit like distress. Natasha rolled her eyes and shook her head. Sharon stared, mouth set in a flat line, eyes blank, one eyebrow raised.

“What the—Tony!” Tony thinks that’s Cap’s indignant voice.

Tony gasped, as Barnes released his mouth once more in favour of latching onto his neck. “I think I’m in love. O-oh hey Cap,” Tony waved, barely able to concentrate on Steve’s alarmed expression.

“Should we be intervening? I feel like we should be intervening,” His Majesty, King Kitty said, looking uncomfortable.

“I think we need more cheeseburgers,” Tony offered. Barnes made a rumbling sound. “Winter Wonder agrees.”

Barnes pulled away enough to look him in the eye. “I like cheeseburgers.”

Tony barked a laugh. “So do I.”

“Hey guys, that doctor guy—what is going on?” Wilson came jogging in, stopping when confronted with Tony on a table looking like the Winter Soldier was trying to devour him face first while everyone stood around and watched with varying levels of discomfort and forbearance. “I’m gonna go…” he gestured back where he came from. “Away.”
