The Manliest Scream - Blellow vs. Spider

Summary:

Due to Blue being a ballerina I imagine he'd have a hard time showing his faults to people. He's the kind of person that unfortunately always manages to put up a front, even if he isn't consciously trying to, and even moreso infront of his darling Yellow.

..So you could imagine Yellow's surprise when he heard a.. surprisingly girlish scream come from within their house.

Notes:

It's mainly like a 3rd person/Yellow pov then a 3rdperson/Blue POV I feel like the change is obvious (and a friend agreed) but if not someone tell me🥹

guys im scared first fic be nice ill cry (Author is the equivalent of a wet dog)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Today Yellow had heard a.. uncharacteristically girlish scream come from within him and Blue's house. Huh.

Which wouldn't make no sense either! There aren't no lady folk in the house right now, unless Aqua snuck in again, Yellow thought. Dunno how that darn fella gets in. Yellow's convinced she can just fit through any crack in the wall. Like a cat. Or a bug. Dependin' on how mischievous she's feelin' that day.

Anyways, he dashes his way to the living room where the foreign scream came from, his spurs stomping loudly in the hall. Hope Blue won't be mad, he knows how much Blue hates how loud those thangs can be. But he can't help it! It's essential to the cowboy aesthetic!

Upon sliding into the doorway, he's immediately greeted by the sight of a utterly horrified Blue who's usually taller frame is scrunched huddled in a nearby corner, seemingly caving in on himself in fear of somethin'. He wasn't even standing on his pointe toes like normal!

"What's wrong m' love?! I heard a scream that scrempt like I ain't never heard before! Did someun' break in? Did you wack em so hard wit' ya' gosh darn legs you kicked the scream outta em'?" Yellow sputtered.

Suddenly Yellow watched as Blue turned a color he done never seen before. It was like the mix of a gorgeous purple and magenta. He watched as the usually gracious and refined man stood there in shocked silence. Yellow watched as he could basically see the thoughts running through his beloved Blue's head, but there were so many he couldn't catch any of em'!

"Ieh- d- I- That-" Blue stuttered.

It was Yellow's turn to be shocked, as he'd never heard Blue stutter like that before! Usually it was him doin' that stuff! So.. if the roles are reversed.. he should probably do sum' like...

He put his hands on Blue's shoulders, enough to be firm and comforting without a hint of judgementalness.

"Blue.. my dear, what dun' happened?" He said gently as he took one of Blue's smaller fallen locks and tucked it back behind his ear.

Blue looked shocked for a second at the sudden change. A mixture of awe and pure adoration on his face, until his eyes began to dart back and forth around the room scatteredly, as if he remembered a problem and was looking for a solution that was yet to be made. He seemed to ultimately make a decision and sighed wearily.

He pointed toward the opposite end of the room, "T-That. That thing- eugh-" He seemed to shiver from the thought of something, "Please yellow, my love.. berid of it..." He seemed to whimper at the end of the plea, but it was so soft Yellow thought he had imagined it.

Suddenly Yellow sparked back to life, this was a sich-u-ation for the Sheriff in town! Blue typically handles this stuff with elegance, but this time 'round he'd be the one taking care a' business!

"Don't chu worry my dear.. the Sheriff won't let nobody, especially his beloved-there boyfrien', be spooked and spoked by such a beast!" Yellow declared as he began to dramatically stomp over towards the small- hol' up- wait a darn minute that is one tiny spider- good gollliieyy!

As he prepared himself for the battle of his life, he took one of his mighty boots off, now, usually he'd take the thing outside to go on and live its life, but this one 'ere.. This one.. is a dang crinimell for scaring the socks off of Blue!

He lined up his shot.. and THWACK! He smacked the wall dead on!

Yellow was intent on celebrating victory now until he heard that familiar-unfamiliar scream.

That was Blue's voice?!

He couldn't believe it! He didn't even know Blue could go that high, as his voice js usually all deep and calm! But what he couldn't believe most is that he didn't exactly miss, but the spider was still alive! AND FLYING NOW-!

He looked over to his poor Blue covering his head and running out of the room, only to spectate from an even farther distance, only barely peaking into the living room past the walls he hid behind.

It was then that Yellow realized just how serious this was. This wasn't just a spider, this was Blue's worst enemy and most evilest terrorizer! He focused real hard and started to WHACK! WHACK! WHACK! In the air and at the walls. The flying spider had dangerous lean to its flight, causing its moves to be even more unpredictable, so unpredictable that.. it flew all the way over to Blue and over his sweet head.

Then Yellow only had a couple of seconds to react before a now, slightly sobbing, Blue leapt into his arms and clung to him like a lifeline. Thankfully Yellow was much taller than him already, and even moreso now that Blue's out of his pointe shoes, but that didn't solve the issue of his strong physique squeezing the life outta him!

So there he was. One shoe on the ground and a grown man on his right side clung to him like a koala. Maybe it was time to go back to copying Blue's comforting mode that he always did for Yellow whenever he was distressed.

And so he did. He gently, somehow, thankfully managed to peal Blue off of him. (Mainly because Blue started to feel bad once he realized the strength he was crushing Yellow with..)

So he threw that beautyful man in the air and caught him bridal style! Shocking the hell out of Blue so much, just for a second, he managed to forget all about the spider. But only for a second before he began to squeeze his face into the nook between Yellow's head and collarbone, making him blush for a second before he remembered his purpose.

Yellow patted Blue's head, "There, there it's alright dear! Hey, how about this," He gently placed his hand on Blue's face, persuading him to look Yellow in the eyes. "You can stand outside, all safe and sound, while I'm in 'ere, fightin' the beast. And then, when it's safe, I'll let you know you can come on back in."

Blue looked away, seeming to contemplate, however the idea of leaving Yellow right now sounded downright terrifying.

"Hey," Yellow whispered softly, gliding his thumb acrost Blue's face, swiping away a couple tears that were so criminell to fall from his beautyful face. "You know I'd never lie to you, right? Even if I wanted to I couldn't. Get too guilty anyways, you know that! So just trust me on this one. I swear t' ya, I'll keep ya safe. Always and forever."

Something truly broke within Blue in that moment. It's like.. he knew the words himself. He knew they were true. But to hear them? From another's mouth? Is an entirely different experience. He held onto Yellow's fringed jacket, a clump of fabric shaking in his clenched fist. He nodded. And gently hopped off of Yellow and made his way to the door, unable to look him in the eyes at this moment.

Yellow's heart ached after that sight. To see his beloved so defeated, when he's usually so strong and cool! Now Yellow's not very smart, but he realized one thing for sure, and that was.. that Blue is just the same as him. He's got fears, moments of vulnerability, and scars. Yellow knew that well, he just had never gotten the chance, the privilege, to look into Blue's carefully concealed heart.

He decided, once this DARN BUG is gone, he'd hold Blue like he'd never had before and tell him all the most comforting things he could ever done THINK of!

And so, Blue heard an amalgamation of WHACKS! and various, (funnily enough,) also fairly girly screams from Yellow himself outside of the door. But, oh! Did he feel so embarrassed! Truly, he swears, Blue was going to be more vulnerable infront of Yellow, he'd planned to! But not like this. It's just so.. embarrassing. He doesn't know how he could ever look Yellow in the eyes now.

As he sat on the cool concrete of the stairs that led into the house, Blue pulled himself into a ball and laid his head on his knees. He sniffled softly. And then he heard the gentle creak of the door opening. His body urged him to jump, to startle at the idea of the perceived danger being unleashed, but forced himself to just solemnly look up at Yellow. How..ever.. what he saw was.. not what he'd had expected.

He heard as Yellow huffed and puffed as Blue gazed at him in shock. He looked Yellow up and down as he saw the sore sight of strayed strands of golden hair sticking out about every which way on Yellow's head, his hat, now apparently missing. His shoe was also still missing god knows where and only god knows what is on the bottom of its soles. However, despite the wreck he seemed to be in, and however he managed to be in it-, he seemed mighty confident with a smug look of his face, filled with pure happiness in his supposed victory.

"I got it. The.. phew! The demon has been exercised!" Yellow proudly announced.

Blue began to helplessly snicker, unable to contain his laughter at the sight of his poor partner, seemingly wrecked from a fight with a being barely 1/1000th of his size.

"Pff-Pwahahaha!" Blue couldn't help but laugh, his now previously adamant face of sorrow turning into utter delight at his partners sheer cuteness.

"Ah- hey! Why're yew laughin'?!" Yellow said surprised, now starting to turn a brilliant shade of deep orange.

After a moment Blue was able to contain himself, (also after deciding not to correct him saying exercise instead of exorcize,) "I'm sorry my dear, you just look so.." He tip-toed and urged Yellow's neck forward in order to adjust a couple strands of Yellow's hair, a futile attempt in taming the mess. "Brave. You look so dashingly brave. My hero."

He leans up and gives him a kiss on the cheek, only for Yellow to obediently lean down so Blue could gently pat and ruffle his hair, just as he normally word. This simple act of normalcy helped Blue's mind begin to clear over the embarrassing situation, now that it was a bit more.. in character you could say.

"Aww shucks.. heh- it-it was really nuthin' Blue, you know I'd do anything to protect ya'. No matter how many flyin' spiders come flyin' at me!" He lifted his head up, momentarily stopping Blue's affectionate ruffles, only to beam the brighten grin Blue swears he's ever seen.

Yellow got back up to his feet only for Blue to take him into a deep hug and spin him around three times, a cute act he always did whenever he deeply appreciated something Yellow did for him, however this time his arms stayed to linger even after spinning the love of his life around.

"Thank you." Blue said, his voice barely above a whisper, most likely his confidence unable to muster anything louder, his heart still reeling just a little bit from the situation.

Yellow just nuzzle his head into Blue's hair, which would normally get him scolded as it'd mess up his hair, but this time he just couldn't find it in himself to care. He gently let go of Yellow.

Only for Yellow to pull the same move again and chuck Blue back into his arms, carrying him off back into the house, making his way into the bedroom. A clear path he was set on, one made for cuddles.

"Ah-, Yellow, darling, before we cuddle do you mind telling me wh-where exactly you disposed of the.. ehm.. creature?" Blue hesitantly asked. He needed to clear his mind of the spider and stat because as of right now he wanted his only thoughts to be of how nice Yellow felt wrapped around him tight.

"Oh don't you worry my dear, is' all taken care of!" Yellow said confidently.

Blue was slightly unsatisfied with the answer, but found himself too tired to press any further and allowed himself to fall more and more into sleep as his body was gently laid on the bed.

He felt a kiss on his forehead.

"Goodnight my love. Just remember, whenever you need me, I'll always be there. No need t' hesitate or t' ask!" Yellow said as he wrapped every one of his lanky limbs around Blue.

"Goodnight my daffodil, and.. thank you again." Blue said, placing his head back into the comforting nook of Yellows neck.

Yellow contentedly hummed as they both found themselves drifting off to sleep.

Hey uh- anyone wonderin' where Yellow's hat went?

Oh boy! Extra?! --->

Blue woke up refreshed, despite the chaotic nature of the previous day and decided he'd do some productive things with this new welcomed energy.

As he hummed, now choosing to land on the task of dish washing, the sink already full of soapy water, he reached over to the sponge. But, before he found himself grabbing it, he saw Yellow's currently upside-down hat, the very one seemingly missing from yesterday.

Blue smiled, knowing Yellow would be happy to know it's been found. He flipped it over.

Only to find the most. Elegant. Corpse. Of a spider. A winged. Spider.

Yellow woke up to a now, beginning to be familiar, screech. It took him a minute of sleepy dis-awareness until he realized what must have happened. Blue found his hat.

Maybe he was really a criminell..
