He was obsessed with Simon beyond reasonable comprehension. He'd marveled at Simon's mutated form from the first day he and Rocky had dragged the man aboard from a brief excursion to the odd moon on their course to Erid. Scientific fascination, however, had warped into a heady need over the months. The gills fluttering when he yawned, scales glistening after a shower, maw of teeth flexing as he spoke. Grace had yearned to put his hands on them, to learn and touch and feel and admire, but Simon's exasperation at his questions and curiosity had clammed up the notion into a tight, hidden desire buried in his heart. So when Simon had asked for his assistance, Grace had done his very best to suppress his wild eagerness when he'd agreed.
