Work Text:

It was quiet, so quiet. There where supposed to be so man noises, noises of their crewmates, noises of over 100 feet moving around on the ship. But there was nothing apart from the humming of the ship and their own feet. There hadn't been other noises for a while. Everyone had gone to sleep, one after another but noone had woken up again and Rocky had watched and watched and watched and now they were the only one left awake. They knew that no Eridian slept this long, they knew but they didn't want to know, they still hoped. Any moment someone would wake. They walked around between their crew mates, looking for signs of anyone waking up but nothing happened. They lay down on the floor, tapping it, listened to the ship, listened to the rooms, all the empty rooms that should be filled with people working.

It was scary. What were they supposed to do? What could they do? Their star was still dying and they needed to find a solution. Everything felt wrong. They would need to sleep soon. They couldn't sleep. Not alone, no one watching. They would have to. It was all wrong. They started to sing, a sad song, mourning deeply, seeing all the bodies, curled up. Rocky didn't know what had happened, why they hadn't died. They expected to feel sick as well any day. They didn't want to die. They also didn't know if they could handle staying alone.

They knew they needed to sleep, but they tried to push it back as far as possible, maybe someone woke up. But finally they felt overwhelmed, it wasn't possible to stop. They were alone, no one would watch over them. Would they wake up again?

"I don't want to sleep," they wailed desperately, knowing, no one was there to hear them. And then they fell asleep, there simply was a point when the body shut down, if they wanted it to or not.

They woke up to the still quiet ship, Rocky just didn't get up. They didn't want to move through the scarily quiet ship, they just wanted lie here and not move at all. They tapped the floor, hearing all the bodies around them, hoping they would hear one of them move but nothing. Simply nothing. Why didn't Rocky get sick? Why them and not someone else? Why did they have to be left alone here?
