Summary
"I have not hunted you. I do not even fish."
"Then how do you explain this?"
"I have made a small number of polite inquiries."
London, 1908. At The International Horse Show at Olympia, Italian Conte Feliciano Vargas finds himself captivated by the German Rittmeister Ludwig Beilschmidt, a man as disciplined as the black stallion beneath him and more beautiful than his humorless reputation suggested. Feliciano's infatuation should have remained as appreciative glances from the Royal Box with his ridiculous mother-of-pearl opera glasses. Instead, it becomes an immediate pursuit across diplomatic salons and the shadows of the Savoy Hotel because Feliciano wants the man with a marvelous ass in white breeches in his bed, regardless of his older brother's disapproval.
Ludwig's resistance toward Feliciano's flirting should have read as propriety. It, unfortunately, didn't. And now neither is prepared for what unravels in a locked library at ten o'clock on a Tuesday evening.
