Work Text:
Ronnie walked down a street, confused, there were soldiers everywhere, machines of war parked down every street, and check points. This all seemingly sprouted up overnight.
This all started when that armored guy came burst into the closet she was hiding in, the thought of which caused Ronnie to grind her teeth.
Ronnie shook her head, what even was going on?
"Hey you there."
Stopping and turning around revealed a woman was trailing after Ronnie, she wore a white dress, and a big, fuzzy thing, Ronnie couldn't remember the name, but it was that thing people would wear around their shoulders in old movies.
Ronnie looked around.
"Me?" Ronnie said, pointing to herself.
"Who else would I be talking to?" The woman said with a bit of sass.
Ronnie looked at the lawn next to her.
"Anyway, just wanted to ask if you saw anything suspicious, seem like the observant type." She continued.
"Not really, I mean some guy broke into... The place where I live but besides that-"
"Really?" The woman hummed, "What did he look like?"
"Big, green, annoying." Ronnie responded.
"Great! Thank youu." And just like that the woman walked off.
Ronnie watched as the woman disappeared off into the distance. She was so, very confused.
Trying to get this all out of her head, Ronnie kept walking, and walking. Her eyes clouded over, she let her legs take her wherever they wanted to go.
Before she knew it, Ronnie was in an unfamiliar part of town, it was dark, she could barely make out anything in front of her.
"Fuck." She muttered under her breath.
She walked forward slowly, cautiously moving through the dark.
But then, she saw two figures approaching, quickly, Ronnie readied herself for a fight, raising her fists up, adrenaline and fear pumping through her body.
And the Master Chief crashed right into her, knocking Ronnie off of her feet.
"Oh sorry miss." The Chief said, "My bad."
"Hello, sorry about my friend here." A voice Ronnie didn't recognize said.
"YOU!" Ronnie shouted from the ground.
"Why do you all ways have to make my life worse?!?" She yelled, writhing on the floor.
"Oh it's you." Master Chief said.
"Who is this?" The Mysterious figure asked, extending a hand to Ronnie, which she took, helping Ronnie up to her feet.
"Some girl who was supposed to evacuate but clearly didn't." The Chief said, scanning his surrounding instead of looking at them.
"Ronnie, and you refused to tell me anything and proceeded to waste my alone time." Ronnie interjected.
The mysterious man got between the two, who were glaring at each other.
"Well nice to meet you Ronnie, I'm Sconn't the Wonn't." He said.
"That's certainly... A name." Ronnie replied.
"What are you two doing out so late?" She asked.
"We could ask you the same thing." Master Chief cut in.
...
"We're saving minors." Sconn't said, motioning his hands like he was telling a spooky story.
"What?" Ronnie gasped.
"You wanna come with?" Sconn't asked.
"No we aren't bringing-" Chief grumbled.
"We could use a minor such as yourself to work with them." Sconn't continued.
"How young do you think I am?" Ronnie asked.
"Twelve." Master Chief said.
"Well how old are you?" Sconn't questioned.
"It's rude to ask a lady her age." Ronnie chided.
"Ok fine, whatever, you wanna come?" Sconn't asked again.
"I already said no-" Chief complained.
"Sure, on two conditions. I don't have to fight anybody, and you two have to help me get back home afterwards." Ronnie explained.
"You really can't get back home?" Sconn't said.
"I do not agree to this." Master Chief pouted.
"I honestly have no idea where I am right now." Ronnie sighed.
"It's a deal then!" Sconn't cheered, holding out his hand to Ronnie, which she shook.
And with that, the three set off to go save those minors.
