    He was drawn to her crib like a magnet. A gravitational pull that would instantly silence Belly’s crying, making her wide, tear-filled brown eyes snap open. She would stare into Conrad’s green ones so serenely that it truly made their mothers believe the two were casting some sort of spell on each other.
    Her crying would stop, her breathing would ease and Conrad’s own breath would sync with hers. There was no reason for it, and no one really questioned it. They were Belly and Conrad. You just couldn’t explain it.
