Summary
The year is 1910, and six-year-old Scorpius Malfoy is in need of a governess.
At thirty, Hermione Granger has spent the last four years caring for the Potter children. But when the widowed Mrs Weasley moves in to take over their care and tutoring, Hermione finds herself searching for a new position.
Word of her availability soon reaches Draco Malfoy, widower and master of the Malfoy Estate. Despite Hermione’s Muggle birth and lack of a Hogwarts education, he decides to take a chance on the spinster Miss Granger. Hermione, recognising the opportunity of a lifetime, accepts.
Not long after her arrival, however, she begins to feel…off. At first, the breaks in reality are small enough to explain away. Then they become increasingly disturbing and impossible to ignore. Mr Malfoy and his squib aunt Bellatrix are at a loss to explain what might be causing them.
All Hermione knows is that she cannot risk losing this job. And Mr Malfoy, captivated by Miss Granger from the day she arrived, is determined to help her keep it.
