Oscar had never been camping before, so why he agreed to go with Logan he doesn’t know. Sleeping outside in a tent was not how he wanted to spend his summer break but here he was, in the middle of the woods somewhere in Florida wondering if he really loved his boyfriend this much. But he did so he was going to try and enjoy the weekend they were going to have together, considering they didn’t get much time together anymore. So now here he was helping Logan build a fire, even though he had no idea really what he was doing.
“Oscar, what are you doing?” Logan was crouched by the fire pit trying to the rearrange logs Oscar just put there.
“Building a fire, like you asked.”
“You can’t just put logs in any which way. You have to arrange them nicely, or else it won’t burn properly.”
“You asked me to do this, you should have just done it if you’re going to redo the whole thing.” Oscar stood back up , brushing his pants off as he did. He decided to let Logan do whatever he had to do to get the fire going. It didn’t take long before the fire was lit. Logan sat down in the chair beside Oscar, reaching out to grab his hand.
“I brought the stuff to make s’mores. Do you want one?” Logan reached into the bag of food, pulling out a box of graham crackers, a bag of marshmallows and a couple of chocolate bars.
That’s how they ended up roasting marshmallows together, and even if Oscar totally burnt his first one he allowed Logan to show him the proper technique. As the night went on and it got darker the two drifted closer together, holding hands between their chairs. The fire was still burning, the distinct smell of a campfire wrapping around them. While Oscar might not have been totally onboard with the camping idea at first he didn’t want to leave now. He was ready to ready to spend as much time in the woods as he could if it meant he could get this time alone with Logan.
