Summary
Six years ago, Cloud left Nibelheim to become SOLDIER, promising Tifa he'd come back for her. She promised to wait. Neither kept their word. For five years they've worked under the same roof at Shinra HQ, neither knowing the other was there.
Now he is assigned to protect the same woman he walked away from — a woman who sits inside Shinra's power grid with secrets she can't afford to share and a clearance badge that keeps her alive. Neither of them can afford what still exists between them. Neither of them can stop it.
They're on opposite sides of the same war. He wears the uniform of the institution she's trying to bring down on behalf of the very group he's supposedly protecting her from. The line between duty and conscience, between the institution and the resistance, has blurred beyond recognition — and they find themselves questioning which side they're really on.
