Summary
Hajime has never quite known what to make of Nagito Komaeda. Trusting others blindly was stupid, and he was hesitant by nature, but throughout his first days at Jabberwock Island, he had been grateful to have someone as reliable and calm as Nagito by his side. He enjoyed walking by his side, exchanging comments about all the other Ultimates in small whispers and chuckles without having to worry about sounding stupid, and feeling like he wasn't alone in such a terrifying reality such as this one, stripped of his memories.
They investigated the first murder together, and by the time the trial arrived and the events unfolded, Hajime felt betrayed by the one he had trusted. That image of a chill, easygoing, kind guy shattered into fear and doubt that poisoned his every thought. He was sick to his stomach, which twisted 180 degrees as soon as Nagito's real nature was revealed, mostly because he refused to believe it was a lie. Now, was it? There was no way, right?
Indeed, Hajime had never quite known what to make of Nagito Komaeda, but he realised that the distance between them was impossible to maintain the moment he took him in, when his classmates threatened to tie him up again.
