Summary:

Five years into the Astrophage crisis, the world Marissa, Olivia, and Abby knew seems to disappear piece by piece. Each of them tries to remember Ryland Grace in their own way as power grids fail, food becomes scarce, and familiar places empty out, but none of it is easy. All they can do is hold out hope that the beetles will eventually return, even when the world around them gives them very little reason to believe they will.

Millions of miles away, Grace and Finch have survived long enough to build a life for themselves on Erid. But between life-changing news and a future they never planned for, the possibility of returning to Earth becomes harder to ignore. Rocky has no intention of letting them make the journey alone, and soon, their reluctant plan to return to Earth becomes something much bigger than either of them expected...
