the sun said, "it hurts to become."in 2023, four years before the launch of the hail mary, ryland grace is stuck trying to figure out the mechanics of the mysterious 'space dots' eating the sun. the last thing he expects is for a stranger to saunter into his laboratory—one who has his face.

There's more blood smudged on the floors, the walls, leading up, up...Oh. There's a handprint. A handprint of blood. There's no way that could have happened without Grace realizing.
Rocky's still rambling on in the background: "—Adrian die, Stars-Erid-Earth die, all die because Grace is stupid."
Grace can hardly believe the conclusion he's about to draw. "I think someone's on the ship."
"Repeat words. I was narrating Grace-Rocky future."
"Rock, someone's on the ship."
