Chapter Text
Craig tangled his fingers in Tweek’s soft blonde hair, holding him close.
Tweek’s hands came up to Craig’s face, gently cupping his cheeks. Craig leaned into the touch without thinking. It felt warm. Familiar. Safe.
He looked into Tweek’s eyes, those bright green eyes that he’d seen a thousand times before, and somehow they looked completely different now. They were hungry and yearning.
Craig pulled him closer, his hand settling against Tweek’s chest. He could feel his heartbeat beneath his palm. His own heart seemed to be racing just as fast.
Tweek smiled at him.
Craig leaned forward until their foreheads touched. For a moment, neither of them said anything. They just stayed there, close enough that Craig could feel Tweek’s breath against his face.
Then Tweek tilted his head, and their lips met.
The kiss was soft. Almost hesitant at first, before Craig melted into it. He forgot where they were. Forgot what they were supposed to be doing.
Craig’s hands slid down to Tweek’s waist, pulling him closer.
And then -
Then Craig woke up. He gasped, sitting up abruptly, sending his covers flying. He was breathing heavily, his hands shaking and his mind racing. What the fuck was that? He got up quickly, not bothering to put on a shirt before making his way to the bathroom. He turned the shower on, dialing the knob to the coldest setting before dropping his drawers and getting in. As the cold water hit his skin, he shivered slightly. It was a refreshing feeling. He put his head against the cold tile of the shower wall, still breathing heavily. He needed to calm down. Craig took a deep breath, letting the cold water run over his head. He closed his eyes, trying to clear his mind but that only made things worse. There was only one thing in his head. Tweek. The way he’d looked at him. The way he’d smiled. The way his warm lips felt.
Fuck.
Craig sighed, it was just a dream. People had weird dreams all the time. But something about it disturbed him deep down. That he’d have a dream like that about his best friend. He’d known Tweek for practically his entire life. And now he was having vaguely sexual dreams about him. He wanted to pound his hand against the shower wall in frustration, but decided against it. His roommates were probably still asleep, and he didn’t want to accidentally wake them up. Usually, his dreams faded the second he woke up. This one felt like it had been burned into his brain.
He ran a hand through his wet hair and stared up at the ceiling. Then he quickly finished his shower, just giving himself a quick rinse since he’d washed his hair the day before. When he turned the shower off, he felt significantly more calm. It was just a dream, he kept repeating to himself. He groaned as he dried off with a towel, it didn’t mean anything.
He and Tweek had been good friends since elementary school, and now both of them were in college. There weren’t any colleges in South Park, so they’d had to migrate to Denver for college. Both of them went to CCD, where they had enrolled together, mostly because neither of them had wanted to go through the whole college experience alone. Craig was doing Computer Science, and Tweek was doing Psychology. He’d also enrolled with a few other friends, but he went mainly for Tweek. Some of those friends were his current roommates, although Tweek wasn’t among them. Craig stepped out of the bathroom, rubbing his hair dry with the towel. He glanced at himself in the mirror, frowning slightly. He still felt weird… not bad, just weird. Normal friends didn’t have… dreams like that.
His brain probably just picked Tweek because he'd known him for so long. They spent a lot of time together, so obviously his subconscious was going to pull him into some random dream every now and then. That was normal, probably… Craig walked back to his bedroom, pulling out a pair of clean clothes and pulling them on. It was a pair of loose fitting sweat pants and a t-shirt with the Nasa logo on it. He’d always loved space, if he could he would have gone into astrology or astronomy or whatever it was called when you studied stars. But he’d chosen computer science because that seemed like a more reasonable career path. Suddenly, his phone buzzed on his night stand. He walked over, it was Tweek.
Tweek: Are you awake?
Craig: Yeah. Wut’s up?
Craig stared at the message, of course he was awake he always woke up early.
Tweek: Ok good.
Tweek: Can u come get breakfast w me?
Craig sighed, looking at the clock on his phone. It wasn’t even nine yet.
Craig: It’s 8:30 you idiot.
Tweek: I knowwww
Tweek: I couldn’t sleep :(
Tweek: That’s why I want breakfast. I’m boreddddd
Craig snorted quietly, that sounded like Tweek.
Craig: Sure
Maybe it’d be good to see Tweek, just to remind himself that he didn’t really have those sorts of feelings for him. He wasn’t going to think about that dream. There was nothing to think about. It was just a dream. He tossed his phone onto his bed, ignoring it as it vibrated several more times. He continued to get ready. He brushed his teeth and did his hair, then grabbed his car keys and his phone and headed out. By the time he reached the parking lot of the breakfast place they frequented, another message had appeared.
Tweek: Hurry up bro.
Craig rolled his eyes.
Craig: Jesus christ u can wait like 5 minutes.
Tweek: No I can’t :(
Craig couldn’t help but smile, his friend was so dumb. Whatever had happened in that dream, it didn't matter. Tweek was his best friend. That was all. It had always been that simple.
-
Craig sat across from Tweek at a small table near the window, slowly stirring his coffee. Tweek was talking. Craig wasn't exactly listening. But he'd been staring at him for the past few seconds without even realizing it. Tweek's hair was still a little messy, like he'd barely bothered to fix it before leaving. There were faint bags under his eyes, and he kept fidgeting with the sleeve of his hoodie while he talked. Craig's eyes lingered on him. He looked... good. Craig blinked. What the fuck? Suddenly he became very interested in the way his coffee looked.
“What?” Tweek asked, breaking his train of thought.
Craig looked back up. “Yeah?”
“You were staring at me.”
“Was not…”
“Yes, you were.”
Tweek narrowed his eyes at him. Craig took a sip of his coffee, trying to look indifferent.
“No, I was not.”
“You totally were, stop lying.”
“I was looking at you. It’s polite to maintain eye contact.”
Tweek scoffed,
“That’s staring, idiot.”
“Whatever.” Craig shrugged.
Tweek continued to stare at him suspiciously. Craig could feel his face getting slightly warm. All he could think about was the feeling of Tweek’s lips pressed against his own and… and… no, no he couldn’t think like this. It was Tweek. His best friend. He'd been looking at Tweek's face for years. This wasn't new. There was absolutely no reason for him to suddenly -
“Craig?”
“What…”
“You’re doing it again.”
Craig looked away, averting his gaze as quickly as humanly possible.
“I’m not doing anything.”
Now Tweek looked slightly concerned,
“Dude… seriously, are you ok? Do you need to talk?”
“No”
“You look weird, you’re acting weird. You’re weird”
Craig sighed,
“I know I’m weird”
“Yeah but this is different”
Craig sighed again, harder this time,
“Dude, just eat your food and stop bothering me. I’m fine”
Tweek gave him a suspicious look but finally turned back to his food, playing with it using his fork. Craig nearly scoffed, it was typical Tweek behavior. But it had never made him feel weird before. Craig exhaled quietly. This was so stupid. He’d had one, ONE dream. And now he couldn’t even look at his best friend without -
He stopped himself. He wasn’t going to finish that thought.
-
The hallway outside the classroom was crowded with students, most of them already making their way toward their next classes.
Craig leaned against the wall, scrolling through his phone while Clyde stood beside him, talking about something that Craig hadn't really been paying attention to.
"So then the professor says we have to read the entire fucking book by Friday."
"That sucks."
"Yeah, it does."
Clyde glanced at him weirdly. Craig was still absentmindedly staring at his phone, or at least, pretending to.
“You’ve been weird all day”
Craig groaned, not again, please god.
“Oh my god, why does everyone keep saying that?”
“Duh, cause you’re being weird”
“I’m always weird”
“Not like this”
Craig shoved his phone into his pocket, looking over angrily at Clyde.
“Ok so, something is bothering me, so what? Mind your own business.”
“Did your grandma die?”
“What the hell Clyde? No”
“Did you fail the midterms?”
“No.”
“Ummm, did you get kicked out of your apartment?”
“No…”
“Did youuu… lose your virginity?”
Craig narrowed his eyes at Clyde, shooting him a nasty glare,
“Fuck you dude”
“Hey I’m just throwing things out there.”
“You’re wrong. About all of them”
“Ok so it’s something stupid.”
“Ugh, no.”
Clyde studied him for a moment, then his expression changed.
“Oh oh, I know. You like someone, don't you?”
Craig froze. Clyde jumped up and down in excitement and pointed at him,
“I knew it, I knew it. You like someone.”
“Shut the fuck up Clyde.”
“You totally do.”
“I don’t.”
“You do.”
“I fucking do not dude.”
Clyde laughed,
“I’ve known you forever man. I know you only get this defensive when I’m right.”
Craig rolled his eyes and Clyde continued,
“So… who is it?”
“No one.”
“Come onnnn. Tell me. Tell little ol’ Clyde”
“No.”
Craig flipped him the bird and then walked away, Clyde complaining in the background. He quickly disappeared into the sea of students, leaving Clyde yapping somewhere behind him.
-
Craig immediately flopped off his shoes and made his way to his bedroom. It had been a long, exhausting day of utter bullshit. Between Clyde teasing him throughout the classes they shared and his asshole of a professor, he was totally done, completely mentally exhausted. All he wanted to do was crawl into bed, pull the blankets over his head, and forget the entire day had happened. He closed his bedroom door behind him and dropped onto his shoddy little mattress. Finally, silence. Just him and his thoughts. And those thoughts immediately started shifting to that messy blonde hair and those bright green eyes.
He groaned, no, no he couldn’t start thinking about that. He had managed not to think about it much during the day. Or, at least, he'd managed to convince himself that he hadn't. There had been too many things going on to dwell on it. But now that he was alone… there was nothing stopping him from remembering that dream, from remembering the sweet kisses they shared. UGH. He rolled over and put his pillow over his face, trying to smother the thoughts out of himself. It didn’t work.
All he could think about was Tweek, and how vivid the dream had been. Tweek’s hands on his face, the feel of his hair beneath his hands, the way his eyes twinkled as they looked into his. Craig opened his eyes and threw the pillow across the room, maybe he could figure this shit out. He grabbed his phone and started typing into the search bar, hesitating for a second before deciding fuck it and typing anyway,
Is it normal to dream about kissing your best friend?
Craig stared at the results, the glow of the screen illuminating his face in his dark room. Apparently, yes, it was normal to dream about kissing your best friend according to randoms on the internet. See? It meant nothing. He scrolled a little further and then paused, a notification popping up at the top of his screen.
Tweek: Hey are you alive :?
Craig could feel his heart start to beat faster as he read the text, he tried willing it to stop but it didn’t listen. It was normal to dream about kissing your best friend, also… he wasn’t gay. Probably…
Craig: Yeah.
Tweek: You were acting weird today dude
Craig: I wasn’t.
Tweek: Yes you were.
Craig wanted so badly to just tell Tweek. He imagined it, then he buried his face in his remaining pillow, he could never tell anyone about the contents of that dream. There was no way that could possibly go over well. His phone vibrated again and he looked over at it,
Tweek: So like, are you ok?
Craig sighed,
Craig: Yes.
Tweek: You don’t sound ok.
Craig: You can tell how I sound thru fuckin text now?
Tweek: I know you Craig.
Craig’s heart skipped a beat at that sentence. It was so short, so simple, and yet so impactful. Tweek did know Craig, they’d known each other since elementary school. They knew each other so well that sometimes they swore they could read each other’s minds. He prayed to god that Tweek couldn’t read his mind right now.
Craig: I’m just tired.
Tweek: Ok… just, if you need to talk lemme know. Ok?
Craig: I know.
Tweek: Good :3
Craig set his phone down on the bed, staring at the ceiling. Why had that interaction made him feel that way? He'd spent the last ten minutes convincing himself that the dream didn't mean anything. That it was normal. That he wasn't gay. That Tweek was just his best friend. Why, despite everything he'd just told himself, could he still remember exactly how it felt to kiss him? Craig groaned and pulled the blankets over his head. He was going to lose his fucking mind.
Suddenly the door opened and Clyde walked in, he was one of Craig’s roommates so he couldn’t escape him even at home. He figured he’d have at least an hour before Clyde got back, looked like he was wrong though. Clyde made his way over and sat on the bed next to Craig,
“Dude. You are blushing like crazy”
Craig put a hand to his face, his cheeks felt warm but he had no idea that he was noticeably blushing. He quickly buried his face into his pillow, trying to hide the blushing. Clyde spoke, he could hear the grin in his voice,
“So. Did you confess?”
“Mhph.” Craig mumbled from his blanket.
“Come on bro. Talk to me”
Craig flipped over, he was not going to take Clyde’s bullshit right now.
“Get out.”
Clyde looked slightly hurt by what he said, but he quickly recovered,
“Ooooh someone’s upset. Did you get rejected?”
“No. Now get out, I’m trying to go to sleep.”
“Are you being serious right now?”
“Clyde…”
“Ok, ok I’ll leave, geez”
He got off the bed and made his way to the door, shooting Craig a suggestive wink before he closed it behind him. Craig groaned, laying his head down on his remaining pillow and closing his eyes. He was desperately trying not to think about Tweek. Maybe he had the dream about him because they hung out the day prior? Maybe that’s all it was. His brain picked a random friend he hung out with to be in his wet dream and it just happened to be Tweek. Plus, he wasn’t gay so… Maybe he was just sexually frustrated? He was fairly attractive, he figured he could probably find a girlfriend if he wanted. But relationships were so complicated, he didn’t know if he wanted to have one. His thoughts raced through a million different things, all Tweek related despite his best efforts, as he drifted to sleep.
