Welcome to the Justice League, Nightwing

Summary:

Nightwing has become an established hero in his own right. The Justice League has worked with him enough to see how skilled, reliable, and good at leadership he is.

During a Justice League meeting, someone suggests that Nightwing should become a member of the Justice League.

The League agrees that Nightwing would be a great addition. Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash, Green Arrow, Aquaman, and Martian Manhunter all have their own reasons for wanting him on the team.

But Batman strongly objects.

The League doesn't understand why.

Batman knows Nightwing better than anyone—but they don't know that Nightwing is actually Dick Grayson, Bruce Wayne's adopted son.

Chapter 1: No... Not Nightwing

Chapter Text

“Nightwing is not joining.”

Clark frowned.
“Batman, you've never objected this strongly to recruiting someone.”

“He's not joining.”

“You keep saying that.”

“Because the answer isn't changing.”

Hal crossed his arms. “Why do you care so much?”

Bruce went silent.

Because he's my son was the answer.

But nobody in this room could know that.

Bruce simply said:

“Because I've seen what happens when people like him get pulled into League-level conflicts.”

Diana watched him carefully.

“You're speaking from experience.”

Bruce's eyes narrowed.

“I'm speaking from knowing him.”

And that tiny sentence would make the League start wondering:

How well does Batman actually know Nightwing?
