Chapter Text
☆
I saw you with another today,
Your face lit up, laughing and gay,
Yet when you met my eyes you wilted,
Seeing me starstruck, my breath stilted.
And I can already feel the frost climbing,
From my fingers to my heart, fighting
Against the summer still burning in me,
Those sunny afternoons committed to memory.
Oh, how I hate what you’ve done, how I despise you,
Even if it’s not your fault, you didn’t know, it’s true
But God, do I wish I never knew of your existence,
My peace of mind laying in the distance.
Naïve little me with grand illusions of love,
Dreams and hopes I know where I can shove
How stupid was I for expecting something different?
In the language of unspoken feelings you’re illiterate.
Helped you grow wings and fly from the prison
Of your old lover but that wasn’t a reason,
For you to pursue a new sweetheart so quick.
I watch you both and think I’ll be sick.
Every poet that crafts ‘bout affection is suicidal,
As loving means rebirth and so death is vital,
And what I wouldn’t give for some quiet,
Voices taunting me, you and her a riot.
You dumped freezing water over my head,
Leaving me exposed, with creeping dread
At the nape of my neck, whispering sweet nothings,
Gutting me, silencing me with wool stuffings.
Hell, I’d rather endure exile or torture than this,
Witnessing a shared exhale and almost kiss,
Only for your expression to contort into guilt,
As if that makes up for all the tears spilt.
