Chapter Text
Classical music was blasting through your ears. You rubbed your eyes, opening them.
You were lying down on a bed, your clothes had changed to a green tracksuit with the number '104' displayed on it.
Your eyes widened in shock at the familiar sight.
'It couldn't be...'
You looked around, spotting many other people in the same attire.
A huge screen was on the wall at the front, displaying the number '456'.
The other people were waking up as well. Looking around, they got up and walked towards the center of the room.
Their confusion was evident on their faces.
The bed you laid on was close to the center, so you just sat there, your gaze focused on the players.
Suddenly, the sound of an alarm rang out, the doors at the front opening. Many people wearing pink suits and masks walked in.
You immediately recognised that attire, and your suspicions were confirmed. You had somehow landed in 𝘵𝘩𝘦 Squid Game.
'I got isekaied?!'
After the doors closed, the guard with a square symbol on their mask standing in the center started explaining to the others the reason why they were all here.
The guard was speaking in Korean, and somehow you understood him. The crowd of players started murmuring.
"Excuse me," someone spoke up. You glanced towards the direction of the voice, recognising the person.
"If we're just playing games here, then why'd you basically kidnap us?" a woman with the number '120' questioned, "How can we trust you now?"
That was Player 120, Cho Hyun-ju, a character that appeared in season two of Squid Game.
You furrowed your eyebrows and ran your hand through your hair.
While you were having your inner turmoil, the others nodded in agreement at Hyun-ju's statement.
Some of the players started shouting out comments about the guard's attire, making the square guard repeat the reason again.
"Did you people strip me when you shoved me into this?"
A girl with the number '196' held her jacket up, asking the square guard with a glare.
You recognised her as Player 196, Kang Mi-na, the first death in this year's squid game. The others all checked their attire.
"Where the hell are my shoes?" a purple-haired guy with the number '230' held his shoe up, "Goddammit, that pair was fucking limited edition! They don't even make it anymore, what the hell?! How are you going to fix them if they got ruined?!"
Anyone who watched Squid Game 2 could recognise that purple-haired guy. Player 230, Choi Su-bong. He was called Thanos by the others throughout the games.
'The one who brought in the drugs,' you thought to yourself.
Mi-na started complaining about the size and colour choice of the tracksuit, asking the square guard whether she could have their attire instead.
It was obvious that the square guard was irritated by their complaints from their silence.
They rejected Mi-na's request, making her roll her eyes.
"Uh, what about my phone?" a guy pushed through the crowd, "You took my phone and wallet. What the hell's going on?"
The number on the guys tracksuit was '333'. You remembered him, player 333, Lee Myung-gi.
The square guard reassured him that his belongings were kept securely and safe. However, Myung-gi kept insisting on getting his phone back, annoying the square guard even further.
"Player 333, Lee Myung-gi," the square guard took out a remote and switched on the giant screen, showing a video of Myung-gi playing ddakji and getting slapped over and over again.
The square guard started listing Myung-gi's reason for being there, and his total debt was 1.8 billion won. The guard then started listing out other players and switching the screen to the corresponding players.
"Player 104," the square guard switched to another video.
Hearing your number, you looked up immediately at the screen, "Yoon [OC/N]. Total debt, 10.4 million won."
'Seriously?' your jaw dropped in disbelief, 'When did I get in debt?!'
Sighing in resignation, you lay back down on your bed while the square guard kept talking. They pressed another button on the remote.
The light in the room dimmed as a piggy bank descended from above. A golden shimmer shone, making you cover your head with your blanket.
Player 149, Jang Geum-ja, was furious to see her son, Player 007, Park Yong-sik, in the crowd of players. She rushed towards Yong-sik and started scolding him.
"If you wish to participate in the games, then please sign the player consent form," the square guard's voice cut through.
The players lined up and started signing the consent form. You stayed curled up on your bed, hugging your blanket.
Player 124, Nam-gyu, and Thanos started a conflict with Myung-gi, which ended with Thanos threatening Myung-gi to pay him after Myung-gi won some money.
It was until the queue started getting smaller that you decided to get up.
You took the pen and signed the consent form. It wasn't like you had a life outside of the games, you literally died.
It wouldn't matter if you died in the games or not.
The guards then led the players to a colourful room, mainly pastel colours. You were one of the last players to follow, so you leisurely walked up the stairs, looking around at the walls.
"Please look into the camera."
You stared at it.
"Smile."
You just hoped that the picture the camera took was not of you flinching at the flash.
"Attention players, welcome to the first game," the broadcast announced, but you ignored the voice, too busy catching your breath.
You reluctantly walked through the doors after a circle guard from the side nudged you, motioning for you to enter.
When you entered, you groaned at the sight.
The field was extremely huge.
Many players were looking around in confusion, some of them were pointing at the doll on the other side of the field.
The protagonist, Player 456, Seong Gi-hun ran to the front of the crowd, and started shouting about the game's rules and the consequences of the elimination.
You blocked out his voice, already knowing what the game was about. The only thoughts you had in your mind was that you did not want to run at all.
Not as important as the thought that you did not want to witness the massacre.
So, you walked through the crowd, stopping right at the front. Once the game began, you strided, keeping a distance from the other players.
This continued for a few more rounds, making you one of the few players that were at the front.
BANG!
A gunshot sounded out, and you knew that meant Mi-na was dead, and that many more people would get shot soon.
More gunshots sounded out after a woman screamed, making you close your eyes, trying not to react to the massacre happening behind you.
The broadcast then repeated the rules again after the gunshots ended.
"Green light," the doll turned back to facing the tree.
You let out a huff, trying to recover from what just happened.
Ignoring your intrusive thought to turn around, you started walking with wobbly legs, creating a gap between you and the players.
Many of them stared at you, though none of them followed your steps.
Gi-hun narrowed his eyes at you, were you not afraid? Many players were just shot down, why weren't you in shock?
Were you used to that?
Ignoring his thoughts, Gi-hun ran in front of the crowd, and started leading the remaining players to pass the game.
You slowly walked towards the finish line, knowing that there was a gap between the players and you, meaning that you still had time.
There was still a minute and a half left on the timer when you crossed the finish line. You sat down near the wall, hugging your knees to your chest and burying your head between your arms.
You finished the first game.
And didn't get traumatised! :D
The game ended with the remaining players that didn't pass the finish line get gunned down.
The players were then led back to the room with the beds, and no one had spoken since. Everyone was still in shock over what had happened.
Except for you, since you were curled up in your bed, preferring to lie down than sit up.
Gi-hun looked to his right, noticing the same girl from before was lying on her bed. He was shocked, who could still sleep after what had happened?
An alarm sounded out, waking you up. The doors in the front opened, and several guards walked in.
The players were terrified at the sight of the guns in the triangle guards' hands, and quickly hid in the gaps between the beds.
"You have successfully passed the first game, congratulations," the square guard nodded towards the players.
They then announced the results of the first game, "Out of 456 players, 91 have been eliminated. Which means 365 people completed the first game."
'91 eliminated?' you thought to yourself as you tilted your head, 'So that means the original Player 104 had also survived the first game.'
"Sir, listen to me! Let us go, please!" Geum-ja tugged her son, walking up to the center and kneeled down as they both begged, "Please! Don't kill us!"
Seeing the old lady and the son's begging, some of the players followed their actions and started begging as well.
You stared at the scene, then curled up into a ball with your blanket covering you.
"Consent form clause three!"
You turned your head to your left, noticing Gi-hun standing up near your bed. The begging players turned their heads around, focusing on Gi-hun.
"If the majority of players agree to stop playing, the games will be terminated. Isn't that correct?" Gi-hun spoke as he walked towards the front of the beds.
You hugged your cheek with your palm as you sighed at Gi-hun's figure, 'Too bad his plans failed. He's a nice guy.'
The square guard confirmed Gi-hun's words, making the other players sigh out in relief.
"Before we vote, we will reveal how much prize money has been accumulated after the first game," the square guard pulled out the remote, making the lights dim.
A tube descended into the piggy bank from the ceiling. Money started dropping into the piggy bank through it, making the players stare at it with wide eyes.
"A total of 91 players were eliminated during the first game. Therefore, 9.1 billion won has been accumulated so far," the square guard explained, "Each player would get about 24 million won."
Hearing this, some of the players started complaining about the amount of money they got after almost dying.
'... What selfish hobos,' you deadpanned at their reactions.
The square guard explained that each player is equal to 100 million won, and the amount of money equal to all the eliminated players would be divided between the survivors.
Even after the players finished the next game, they could still vote to leave. You sighed in disappointment at the players' enthusiastic expressions.
The voting process was easy. If the player wanted to continue the game, press the blue button with the 'O'; if the player wanted to stop the game, press the red button with the 'X'. The voting would begin from the player with the highest number to the lowest, which meant the first to vote was Gi-hun.
"Player 456," the square guard called out.
Realising the guards would call the player numbers out, you went back to lying down on your bed.
"I'VE PLAYED THESE GAMES BEFORE!"
You shot up from your bed as you heard 𝘵𝘩𝘦 iconic line, though listening to it in person was giving you major second-hand embarrassment.
Gi-hun's plan to convince the players to leave obviously backfired. His statement about winning the games previously only made the players more convinced they'd have a chance of winning.
You lay back down on your bed and covered your ears with your pillow at the second-hand embarrassment, not wanting to listen in even further.
"Player 104," the square guard called out. You yawned as you walked down the stairs and towards the voting machine.
You decided to be a bitch and choose the blue button, pressing it while giving a little smug smile.
You then walked to the corner of the highlighted blue space on the ground and sat down, playing with your fingers.
After the last vote was voted, the 'O' became the majority, making the games continue.
When the voting ended, you immediately rushed back to your bed, plopping down and covering yourself with your blanket.
Later on, the guards started distributing dinner for the players. You stretched your arms and got up, walking towards the queue.
The dinner was just a bento and a bottle of water.
You got back to your bed and opened the bento, revealing some rice, pieces of sausages, vegetables, and an egg on top.
You furrowed your eyebrows at the meal. The rice was hard, the vegetables and sausages were dry, and the egg looked absolutely unappealing, exactly like plastic.
You closed your bento in disgust, then took a sip of water. Lying back down on your bed, you stared at the ceiling.
Before your death, you were a workaholic. You never really focused on your health and just ate a little during lunchtime and immediately went back to work.
Food's expensive, okay? And the free food looks like shit and probably tastes like shit.
Stuffing the bento and the bottle of water under your pillow to store it for later, you went back to lying on your bed, feeling bored.
"Boys, what are you doing in the middle of mealtime?"
You immediately shot up again after hearing this line. Player 001, Oh Young-il, was walking towards the fight.
You knew his name was Hwang In-ho, but you didn't want to accidentally call out his real name and gather attention, so you referred to him as his alias in your mind.
"No fights during mealtime. There are elders present, mind your manners," Young-il warned Thanos and Nam-gyu, the ones who were beating Myung-gi up.
Your full attention was on Young-il. Thanos walked towards him, and started taunting Young-il.
Enraged, he grabbed Thanos by the neck, his grip tightening. Nam-gyu cursed at Young-il, and tried to swing a punch at him.
Young-il kicked Nam-gyu in the shins, and kicked him again when his defenses were off, making Nam-gyu fall to the ground in pain.
He then shoved Thanos away. Thanos also tried to punch Young-il, only to be countered again. He twisted Thanos' arm, and kicked his guts over and over again.
Young-il then gripped Thanos' neck, ready to punch him again. Thanos begged him to let go, and started apologising.
Young-il finally let go, and many players started clapping and cheering at him.
One of them was obviously you.
You watched as Young-il awkwardly nodded to the applause and ran his hand through his hair with a small smile.
Grinning at the memory of the scene, you lay back down on your bed, soon falling sound asleep.
