Work Text:
Static buzzed in the air, the faint sounds of a movie in the background as Avery looked at a certain book.
The King in Yellow. Avery wonders how many people have bought copies of it.
The room was dark, the moon hung in the air as the stars shined. Moonlight seeping through the cracks and illuminating the dark room.
Derek was fast asleep in his room, Avery imagined Derek for a bit-- Chest going up and down, the soft, relaxed expression on the delicate silk of the pillows.
Avery grew so, so fond of his lover.
The sounds of footsteps snapped him out of it. Avery looked up, only to see Hayden.
He sunk into the couch, looking at Avery. "What're you doing out here so late?" He asked, leaning against the backrest with his arms behind his neck.
"I was going to read your book," Avery replied, before adding; "What're you doing here anyways?" His voice was incredulous, as if the mere thought of a deity's vessel not sleeping was foreign to him.
"I'm a god, a false god, Avery." Hayden deadpanned. "Why would i need sleep?"
"Sorry," Avery apologized. "I sometimes forget that since... You act like a real human being, it scares me sometimes." He admitted, gaze falling to his lap.
Hastur chuckled at that. "Pfft, its easy doing that. Everyone's so... 'Brainrotted'. It amuses me." It rolls it's eyes, the comment being directed at Avery.
Avery gasps dramatically, accusingly pointing a finger at Hayden. "Rude! I'm not THAT brainrotted, get a grip!"
"Pfft, yeah, as if you dont pull up the '67' joke when you see the two numbers." The King retorted, nudging Avery playfully.
The dreadhead scoffed, rolling his eyes. "Whatever, dude."
Silence hung in the air, deafening as the duo stopped talking. The TV turned off, the static being louder. Crickets chirped, the moon gleaming.
"So!" Hastur's voice cut through the silence, "How's your relationship with Derek goin'?" Curiosity laced his words, swinging his legs like a little kid.
"It's doin' fine, actually." Avery responds, dazed for a little. "Der's nice, he's funny and... Actually cares. Unlike my past relationships." He chuckles, shaking his head.
Hastur perks up, his expression confused. "How were your exes even like?"
Avery responds with a shrug. "Meh. Before i found out i was minsexual, one of my ex-girlfriends was a closeted butch lesbian, i found out and talked it out with her. It worked well, we're still in touch, we just barely interact." Avery explains for one of them.
"The second ex, they were a stalker, i tell you. Had to break up with them and move towns." Avery's voice didnt seem too fond. "The third actually made me realize i was gay as hell, not kidding. They talked me on it, and told me to go for it and be myself. I'm glad that happened." He laughs.
"So, two of em were good and one of them were bad?" Hayden asks.
Avery simply nods.
Hayden bursts out into laughter. "Damn, thats kinda crazy, hah." He shakes his head, eyes hidden by it's hand.
Avery rolls his eyes. "Shut up." He throws a pillow to Hastur, in which the deity captures it before it hits it.
They talk more, honestly don't even ask why i got too tired to write the dialogue.
Avery becomes tired, laying his head on top of Hayden's shoulder. (🚨🚨🚨 THIS IS PLATONIC AND IS QUEERPLATONIC SLIMEKING IT IS NOT ROMANTIC FOR FUCKS SAKE!! 🚨🚨🚨) Hastur relaxes, patting Avery's head for abit before just stilling.
He decides to carry Avery in a piggy back, dropping him to Dereks room.
It stares at the two for a little, something fond flickering in it's eyes. Before leaving the room completely.
