Chapter Text
The Count Dracula looked upon Jonathan.
"Before we.. sign the contract, might we play chess?", he said in that.. smooth, somewhat raspy voice with an accent the solicitor couldn't quite place.
"If that so pleases you, your lordship." He replied.
He hadn't played chess since he was young, but he felt... drawn to the Count's proposal.
The Count led him through the sprawling labyrinthine halls of the castle he owned, his walking cane occasionally making a click sound upon the aged stone floor.
Jonathan was led into an old library, with most, if not all of the titles housed there being older than he was.
The Count sat down at a table caked with dust harboring a chess board also caked with dust. Jonathan stifled the urge to sneeze in front of nobility. The nobleman stared upon the solicitor with that one visible, tired-looking blue eye peeking out of his mask's left eye hole.
That damned mask. That seemingly pewter mask in the image of a human face. The Count always wore it. Jonathan didn't know why. Jonathan didn't know what lied under that mask. It felt..off. But he was drawn to him, almost hypnotized.
"Well?" The nobleman said.
"You may make the first move."
