Chapter 1: Day 1 - Chufies

Chapter Text

Day 1 – “This is so romantic.” - “You’re so weird.”

Derapchu is almost certain that Wifies is flirting with him.

…almost.

“Dude, it’s like–he keeps inviting me to hang out with him, right? But lately, I swear, it’s like…a date. Or something.”

Parrot chuckled at Derapchu’s unfortunate situation.

“Bro stop laughing! Or at the very least…help me figure out… whatever’s happening!”

Parrot’s head was in his hands, “Sorry, sorry, bro. Okay, so these ‘dates’…are they like, coincidentally romantic? Or does it seem like it’s on purpose?”

Derapchu hummed, trying to remember the last thing he did with Wifies. He didn’t invite him to obvious date spots, but everywhere Wifies dragged him to weren’t the first thing you’d think of for a purely platonic date.

Movie theatre, a concert, a pottery class… Hell, he even took him swimming once!

“It’s complicated, like… he asks if I want to go to the strangest places known to man…rock climbing, or something. The worst part is that I can’t even say no because they’re probably the most fun I’ve had in weeks!” Derapchu groaned.

Parrot grinned.

“I ‘dunno, Derap. It might be just me, but I’m getting the idea that you’re enjoying this.”

Derapchu was–admittedly–a little closer to punching Parrot in the face than he would like.

“Parrot, you’re insufferable…”

Derapchu instinctively reached for his phone. He opened it to find 4 new messages from Wifies.

“Oh, Derapchuuuuu…”

“I just saw a post about how the local bowling alley is having a sale.”

“It’s 25% off if you bring a friend!”

“🥺”

Parrot knew Derapchu was not listening to him. He was grinning at his phone, the sound of typing and text messages practically talking over him.

“Are you even listening to me right now?”

Derapchu was still grinning as he put his phone face up on the table right in front of them, not even bothering to turn it off.

Parrot peeked at Derapchu’s messages, only catching the newest messages from Wifies before Derapchu snatched his phone from the table, muttering something about being nosy.

“Oh, you’re going bowling?”

“Yeah, apparently there’s this sale… or–”

Parrot immediately interjected Derapchu’s statement, effectively interrupting him.

“Can I come?”

Parrot knew what he was doing. He didn’t even like bowling; he just knew he had to witness whatever Wifies and Derapchu had going on. Even though he was on the inside, being the two’s closest friends, (besides each other, of course) he hardly knew anything about their dynamic–since they preferred to hang out one-on-one.

Derapchu pulled his phone back out and immediately started texting Wifies back, not even attempting to respond to Parrot’s question.

“Yo, can Parrot tag along?” Derapchu typed.

The texting bubble appeared and re-appeared about a million times.

“...Sure? If he pays for himself, I guess.”

“Wifies said you can come if you pay for yourself…I guess the sale only counts for one person.” Derapchu said, still smiling at his phone.

Usually, Parrot would be extremely pissed at Derapchu right now. He loathed when people did that…staring at their phone while you’re trying to talk to them.

But Parrot was too amused to be annoyed, he cared way more about his friends’ relationships then he would care to admit.

“Tonight at… 7 work for you?” Wifies said. Derapchu hearted the message to confirm the plan.

“It’s at 7, Parrot. See you there!” Derapchu said, finally turning off his phone and looking back up at Parrot’s smirking face.

—

Parrot walked through the doors of the local bowling alley at 7:02 PM.

The place was relatively packed, but he thought it wouldn’t be too hard to spot Derapchus’ Pikachu eared hood, or Wifies’…well, Wifies. He was a visually distinct person.

He was right, of course, but Parrot didn’t really expect the two of them to be sitting down, sharing a burger and fries…not the classic milkshake trope, but something so unbelievably romantic that Parrot didn’t think would happen until they were at least a couple months into their “relationship” or whatever they would having going…

Wifies just waved over the jaw-dropped Parrot like it was any normal friendly hangout.

“What… is happening here? This is so… romantic. Did anything happen in the two minutes I was late?”

Derapchu rolled his eyes, “What? You’re so weird. I was just too broke to buy my own food, dude.”

Parrot gave a look to the unusually silent Wifies. He did not look back.

He was too busy looking at Derapchu. Duh. Should’ve expected that.

“Whatever, can we… you know, actually start bowling now?”

Wifies sighed and slowly stood up from the table, disappointment apparent in his voice, “Yeah, sure, man.”
