Ding Dong
Getting up from the couch, Hirano Taiga grabbed his bowl of candy, already knowing what's to come.
He opened his front door, being welcomed with a warm and boisterous:
"TRICK-OR-TREAT!"
These words came from two kids around the age of ten, one dressed up as a zombie, the other dressed as a mummy.
"Wow, you two look terrifying," he said in an amused tone, a small smile forming on his face. "Nearly gave me a heart attack."
The kids giggled as the took two pieces of candy each before thanking Hirano and running down the driveway, on the way to another house.
Hirano closed the door and placed the bowl down on a small round table near the front door, making a beeline to the upstairs bathroom, where his husband was getting ready for Halloween himself.
"Aren't you a bit old to be trick-or-treating, Akira?" He teased lightly, leaning against the bathroom door frame.
The other man squinted at his lover using the mirror, which he was currently standing in front of, getting his vampire-looking features in order. "Are we not going to Hanzawa's Halloween party? And where's your costume?"
With a roll of his eyes, Hirano left the bathroom momentarily to go grab his accessories. Once he came back, he slipped on his werewolf ears and tail, completing his get up, since he was wearing the clothes already. "Happy now?"
"Very," Kagiura Akira confirmed, stepping away from the mirror to turn toward Hirano, those bright green eyes of his softening like they did every time they landed on his husband; even after two years of them being married. "You're more like a puppy than a werewolf, ya know?"
Hirano's cheeks reddened. "I can't believe that statement is coming from you of all people," he remarked, avoiding his partner's gaze by looking into the mirror himself, pretending to adjust the wolf ears.
Laughing, Kagiura placed a quick kiss on Hirano's cheek. "I love you too, Taiga."
The drive to Hanzawa's house was pleasant, but it took a little longer than usual since there were people walking on the roads, moving from house to house.
Once Hirano parked, they both exited the car, and when Kagiura looked up, he froze immediately.
"Taiga, you didn't tell me the only way to enter Hanzawa's house was through a haunted house!" Kagiura hissed, the blood draining out of his face adding to the vampire effect he was going for.
Hirano glanced at his husband, a smirk trying to rest on his lips, but he managed to keep it down. "I promise you it's not that scary."
"It's Hanzawa! Of course it'll be scary!"
Good grief.
Hirano walked over to Kagiura, and took his hand, locking their fingers together securely. "Akira. Look at me."
Kagiura let out a sigh through his nose before he looked down to make eye contact with Hirano.
"I'll be right next to you the entire time," the blonde reassured his partner. "We can hold hands if that makes you feel better."
Without any hesitation, Kagiura nodded his head, looking nervously at the dark, looming entrance in front of them. "I feel so silly being afraid of something as simple as haunted houses."
Pressing a kiss to their intertwined hands, Hirano shook his head. "We're all afraid of something."
A small tingle shot through Kagiura's arm; his body always doing so when Hirano gave him affection.
"You never seem scared of anything, Taiga."
"Let's keep it that way."
