Dana's Marriage Counselling

Summary:

Fictober Event Day 3
Promt: "This whole thing is much too complicated."

Notes:

Day 3
This promt was tough. Took a lots and lots of tries. Lots of versions, that I was unhappy with. So Dana to the rescue. Hope you have fun.

Im challenging myself here, since most when not all prompts work the easiest if you just make the ship or characters kiss and then one character saying that.
So were trying here.

Enjoy :)

Work Text:

The tension between the two attendings was palpibal. And while that would've been fine and good, it started seeping into their work.

Conversations cut short. Tensed muscles when the other suggested a procedure. Snapped remarks. Uncooperative following the others suggestions. Infront of the interns and now infront of the patients.

Dana had enough.

So when the two of them started snarling comments about bed priorities at the head nurses station, without further ado she grabbed the two doctors by their wrists and dragged them towards the supply closet. She manhandled them inside.

"This-" she darts between them, "whole thing, is much too complicated. Deal with it. Don't bring your marriage problem into this place. We have enough as there are."

Abbot opened his mouth to protest. "No, pretty boy." She held her finger in front of his nose. "No arguing. Im locking that door by the way. You better kiss and make up or im not letting you out."

With that she turned and opened the door. "Thats a Human Rights violati-", that were the lasts words she heard before she pulled the handle shut.

Robby rubbed his face, then his head, before hanging his locked fingers over the back of his neck. Abbot pouted, arms crossed over his chest.

The tension standing vertically in the cramped space.

"Im not sorry." Abbot finally blurted after the beating silence. "Of course youre not!" "That wasn't on the chore board!" "Because I TOLD YOU TO PUT IT ON THE BOARD!!" "YOU NEVER SAID THAT BIT!" Abbot defented himself.

"Fine. You want me to admit I'm wrong. I was wrong. Alright." "Yeah I'm not taking that." Abbot pulled up his nose. "What Tha Fuck do you want me to say Jack, huh." Robby proposed eyes darting fire. Abbot kept stumm. Exhausted Robby scratched his beard.

"That you forgot." The shorter finally said, avoiding eyes finally meeting Robbys.

"That you forgot to add it to the board before you left. And you told me after I came home from a 12 hour shift." Robby opened his mouth to add. "No. Before you say anything; Thats WHY we have the board."

Robinavitchs mouth fell shut. His energy subsiding in his limps. Abbot avoided his gaze, looking intensly at the labels of the chemical cleaners.

"Im Sorry." Robby got out sincere. "Sorry I forgot." His eyes blinked up, lips draw to a line. He eyed his expression carefully, before giving in. "Thank you. And I'm sorry I let it stew." "Peace?" Robby offered. "Alright."

He accepted the hug. Robby melting into Abbots frame. Warmth and familiarity. The biting smell of disinfected not leaving them.

"Hey Jack." He mumbled into his neck. "Did Dana say anything how we're supposed to get out of here?" He felt the smile against his skin. "We are held hostage."

Robby loosened the grip on his husband. "Im gonna call her." He fished his phone from his pocket. And a moment later his face dropped. Abbot looked deeply concerned at his expression. "What?"

"There's no reception." "Oh for fucks sake." Jack hung his head. "I will kill Dana." "I'll back you."

Dawning 5 minutes later Dana unlocked the door again. To find both attendings sitting on the dusty floor of a supply closet. "You killed each other yet?" She smiled slyly. "No." Abbot answered calm. "But we have plans to murder you."

The corner of her lips tucked upwards. "Get up, we have incoming trauma. A head injury after a 25 foot fall. ETA 3 minutes."

They got up, legs over knees and trotted back into the steady chaos of the ED.

"By the way." She didn't turn around. "This was your freebie. Next time I'll charge hourly."
