Work Text:

“I'm Yours”

I glanced at my hand and realised
An aspect so clear yet surprising,
That not only my heart towards you is rising,
Not only to be with you am I much obliged,
But there is so much more to it as well.
You see, we both know to who I belong;
That you've had a hold on me for so long.
Ever since I've met you, I've been under your spell.

And now, as I think about this all,
Even if it's not from you, it's not official,
Even if it may be a bit artificial,
Made with my own two hands and small;
I'm wearing the proof of it, all the time,
Like self-appointed collar in black and white,
With your name on it, always in my sight,
The weight of it, anchoring yet sublime.

I cannot take it off, unless to protect it;
I'll wear it when I can, every single day,
Jingling, precious, always on display,
A mark of my devotion, even if you don’t expect it.
I glance at this little trinket of mine,
And it reminds me of you, of what we share.
Ensures me when I'm stuck, no matter where,
Draws my eye, more by purpose than design.

I smile at it and remember this one, simple fact.
I'm Yours.
