    Summary

Coen almost won, he'd barely taken a hit from Bakir, and the khan was getting desperate by the way he was fighting. But one step too late, the weariness of this long fight and all maze obstacles finally catching up to him. As consciousness faded, Coen thought of how it couldn't be over, and when he regained consciousness, he wished it had been.

Crake received a report that Coen had been spotted around where Bakir held his 'Lunar Game', and at first he didn't think much more than Coen had seen this as his opportunity, the same as he had with Ambrus's dual. Then just two nights later, he got another report, that Bakir made a public appearance in one of his villages, a new pet chained at his side, one that matched a certain half-vrakhir's description.

If Coen couldn't beat Bakir, what hope did Crake have against the monster? But if he couldn't rescue Coen, what hope did the valley have of being saved?
