Summary
At first, Komaeda paid Hinata no mind, but little by little, he had begun to realise that, deep down, they were familiar. He had been granted a useless talent, and Hajime was talentless to begin with. A Reserve Course Student, on top of that, and even then, Nagito's classmates wanted him around. He had loathed how he had warmed his way up to the symbols of hope as if he had the right. He should be grateful, kneel and lick the ground over which his classmates walked.
Of course, Komaeda preserved the beautiful atmosphere when they reunited. Everybody was glowing and, somehow, Hajime always found himself being used as a stepping stone for hope. He admired from afar and, even then, in a room full of talented Ultimates, his eyes would unconsciously look for Nagito’s, which were already fixed on him. And just like all his classmates, Nagito wanted him too; he had realised.
So when Hajime confirmed that he'd attent the banquet organised by Teruteru, Nagito was excited about it, except this time, the Reserve Course Student opened the door to a room full of chaos. Even then, olive eyes scanned the room for his favourite tone of grey.
