Work Text:
“Shot! Shot! Shot!” Four people chanted around the table. Their voices mixed in the air, overtaking the quiet atmosphere of Wisperville.
Graecie, whose head was covered in her hands, slightly shook her head. Someone was already guiding a shot glass towards her, filled with vodka after she skipped her question.
“You have to do it, Graecie!” Pyro told her with a laugh, Shelby nudging the Light Mage next to her.
AJ only grinned at it, small laughs escaping as Graecie tentatively looked up to Zam, before grabbing the shot from Pyro’s hands, and downing it. Cheers erupted as her face winced at the bitterness, Zam rubbing her back as she stuck her mouth out in disgust.
It had been a fun afternoon, even by AJ’s standards. Drinking, laughing, hide and seek… even if there was no fighting and Molotov cocktails, the Mage couldn’t deny that she had fun teasing Ros and Juniper, or purposefully mentioning the corruption just to get more free shots.
Somehow, most of Fairy’s attendees had ended up around a table in the outside, an empty whiskey bottle placed in the middle, and about eight people around the table. AJ — of course, Fairy, Michaela, Graecie, Shelby, Scott, Pyro, and Juniper stood around the table, waiting to see if the drink would fall on them. Around the table, others stood — some drinking, some watching, some talking.
Drift, who wasn’t playing, had her arm thrown over AJ’s shoulder, watching her fake girlfriend as she played. Somewhere right behind them, Magpie was lying down with Ros, giggling, slightly tipsy after half a beer.
“Sure you don’t wanna play?” AJ looked up to the Earth Mage with a sneaky grin. The two had grown comfortable with acting like they were dating — at least in public. Every time Drift put her shoulder around AJ, or AJ held Drift’s waist, or they kissed, it just felt increasingly natural, comfortable. As if nothing had ever happened to them the first time.
“Nah, I’m good. Happy to just watch you make a fool of yourself.” Drift replied, smiling back. In front of them, the bottle was being spun again, everyone becoming increasingly interested in who it would land upon.
“Or just happy watching me, huh, Open Book?” The Death Mage went on her tip toes and whispered into Drift’s ear, making the girl flush very slightly. “I know you never want to take your eyes off me.”
“Well, how could I, when my girlfriend is so beautiful?” She flirted back, making them both laugh. Even the flirting seemed natural between them, now.
“AJ!” Fairy suddenly cried out with a big smile, pointing at the table, which had a bottle pointed straight at the Death Mage. “Your turn.”
A couple oohs came from the players, everyone looking at AJ curiously, many giggling, still drunk. “Do I choose truth or dare?”
“Well, that’s what we’ve been playing for the last hour, so…” Shelby laughed at her, making a couple others join. The Death Mage only rolled her eyes with a grin.
“Jeez, you're feeling cocky today, Windy One. Okay. Okay, um, I’ll go easy. Truth.” Next to her, Drift nodded, almost pleased that AJ didn’t choose dare.
Someone muttered boring under their breath while others started whispering, planning what to ask AJ. The Mage turned around to look at Megii, just to make sure she was alright. She still sat next to Ros, but they had both left the floor now. Instead, the two sat on a big tree branch, in easy earshot of the discussion.
Magpie smiled when she caught AJ’s gaze, prompting her to send a wink back. Drift must have been watching them, because she laughed when AJ winked.
“Okay! We have chosen!” Micheala suddenly shouted over everyone else, quieting the talking. “AJ — if you had to choose a third, for you and Drift, who would you choose?”
Oh.
Oh…
A sick smile grew on AJ’s face. She really liked this question. And judging by both the blush and interested look on Drift’s face, her fake girlfriend did, as well. “Is this you saying you want to be our third, Micheala?" AJ laughed at the Mage, who rolled her eyes in response. A couple other Dragon Riders groaned.
"No, come on." She sipped on her beer, making Drift sigh dramatically, as if she were upset.
AJ's fake girlfriend asked a question, regardless. "Hold on. A third? Like— sexual, romantic…” Drift trailed off her question.
“Anything.” Micheala answered before anyone else, making AJ bite her lip and start thinking. “Anyone here right now, who you and Drift wouldn’t mind being in, like, a throuple with.”
Interesting…
"Is every girl here an option? I just don't want to break anyone's hearts…" AJ joked, only a bit serious. Drift kicked her lightly with her foot, making the Death Mage bite back a yelp.
"One person, you greedy." Pyro told her off with a big grin.
"Ugh. If I have to, fine." AJ looked to the floor, before moving to face Drift, who was looking at her with an equally perplexed expression.
Drift tilted her face, as if asking AJ something. She did the same back, making Drift frown.
“Wait— throuple? Polycule?” Graecie added as the group went quiet, watching AJ and Drift communicate with head tilts and blinks. “I don’t… what is that?”
A couple awkward laughs came from around the group, particularly Fairy, Tree, and Micheala, who were all glancing at each other with a bit of worry, not knowing how to properly explain it.
“Um…” Juniper laughed awkwardly, her face beginning to blush. “It’s like— okay, you guys know how when two people date… they’re in a couple? A throuple is like three people dating. Each other. And a polycule—“
“It—“ Ambear interrupted when Sniff stopped talking, her face being buried in her hands. “How do we—“
“It’s when a bunch of people date, in a… kind of like a network? When there’s three or more people. More than two.” Scott managed to add at the end, while Juniper was shaking her head softly in embarrassment of her explanation, which AJ hardly thought was bad in the first place.
Behind AJ, she could hear a greatly recognisable voice, soft and confused. "Interesting…" Megii whispered, sitting with Ros. AJ couldn't help a smile growing on her face, noticing one on Drift's face, too.
Graecie frowned, glancing at Zam who looked similarly confused, her antennas leaning downwards. Drift had turned back to watch Megii, and AJ followed.
Their friend seemed incredibly confused, whispering something into Ros’s ear, which seemed to make the Life Mage blush furiously.
“Um.” Ros cleared her throat nervously, and Megii suddenly looked away in shame. “Megii’s asking if… everyone has to make out? In a throuple, polycule, thing? Like— together, or do they make out—“
“Stop! Ros! I asked you!” The Woodland Mage cried out in vague annoyance, groaning softly as the rest of the group looked down or away awkwardly, a couple laughing.
AJ would be a liar to say it wasn’t… slightly cute. How nervous Magpie could get about things like this, how she acted like she was walking on shaky ground, yet always seemed so interested in learning about them. Rather than shying away like a kid, Megii sought it out. AJ could respect it. “It depends on the relationship, Smart One. Some people all kiss if they all like kissing, some don’t. But usually, they kiss one-on-one. Not… as a three. Or, one-on-one, but all three are there."
"Oh." Megii whispered, mostly to herself. Everyone around the table watched as she pulled a thick book out from the satchel next to her, opening it up and beginning to write down some of what AJ had just said. "I see."
As AJ watched Megii, Drift's arm on her shoulder seemed to weigh heavy. She could feel it tickle the side of her neck, the feeling of soft, royal skin on her coarse body oddly relaxing. It didn't feel fake. It didn't feel wrong. Not as the smell of rain and flowers permeated her nose, making the entire outside smell just like Drift.
All while looking at Magpie.
It felt oddly— normal. To have them both around her in such a way. Complete.
Ugh. You did not just think that, AJ. Shut the fuck up.
She felt breath by her ear, suddenly.
Infinitedrift whispers to you: who are you thinking?
You whisper to Infinitedrift: not sure yet. taking it pretty seriously, you know
Infinitedrift whispers to you: same… micheala would be fun
You whisper to Infinitedrift: fairy, too. a lot of options
Infinitedrift whispers to you: there really is
"Choose, guys, come on! Don't leave us waiting!" Juniper told them, standing opposite AJ. The Death Mage just laughed, Drift still lost in her own thoughts.
"Why? Want us to choose you, Tree?" AJ teased, making Juniper roll her eyes, and a couple other Dragon Riders whisper.
"Think I'd rather die, AJ. You're not my type." Sniff shrugged her shoulders at AJ, but the Mage could see Juniper looking at her. Or maybe past her… at Ros.
"Maybe we give AJ and Drift some more time? We can do another round first?" Graecie asked quietly as they all watched Drift and AJ communicate with their eyes. A couple people agreed, triggering the bottle to be spun around again.
Neither AJ nor Drift paid much attention.
Infinitedrift whispers you: there's also someone else…
AJ's eyes snapped up to Drift, from the grass on the floor. Her fake girlfriend was smiling, almost nervously, but with a glint of interest in her eyes. The air smelled disturbingly like her. So much so, that it was difficult to focus on much else.
Although—
AJ did have an idea for someone else…
Drift's eyes drifted to her right side, where Megii and Ros sat on their bench. Megii seemed to be still pestering Ros with questions about throuples, making the Life Mage blush, while furiously writing down anything she heard into the make-out book.
Oh.
Hm.
You whisper to Infinitedrift: are you thinking what im thinking?
AJ could feel a sick grin on her face. She could see a similar one on Drift's.
Infinitedrift whispers to you: are YOU thinking what IM thinking?
You whisper to Infinitedrift: …magpie?
A slow nod came from the Earth Mage. It was hesitant, but— God, did Drift look excited.
"It makes sense." AJ nodded back with a smile. "We're… closest to her."
"Both of us are." Drift agreed. It was hard to hear, with so many people talking around them. The bottle must have landed on Micheala, and she must have chosen dare, because when AJ glanced away from Drift, she saw everyone laughing at her do some dance.
Something pulled her gaze behind her.
It must've done the same to Drift, because when AJ turned to look at Megii, Drift was already watching her, too.
They looked at Megii, then each other.
Then back to Megii, who seemed entirely unaware of what was going on. Scott seemed to have left the game, now sitting on the branch with Ros and Magpie, providing instructions on what to write in the make-out book.
"We've chosen, by the way." AJ told the group, who were still giggling at whatever Micheala had been dared to do. Drift and AJ watched as everyone fell silent with interest, their eyes locking on them.
"Yeah." Drift laughed. "We choose Megii."
Everyone looked at them.
Then, to Megii.
"…makes sense." Juniper said quietly, mostly to Micheala, who nodded in agreement. No one else spoke.
"Why—" AJ began to laugh, looking around at everyone, who were all looking at her and Drift. "Why'd everyone go quiet? Guys…"
Immediately, the group began protesting.
"No, no!"
"Nothing! Just surprised."
"Kinda hoped you'd say me…"
You whisper to Infinitedrift: you saw that right
Infinitedrift whispers to you: hell fucking yeah??? there something we don't know????
Eventually, everyone started laughing, smaller discussions sparking around them, as Drift and AJ eyes each other suspiciously.
"Wait—" Magpie began to speak up, over all the voices. "Choose me for what?"
Uh…
"To date them!" Graecie chriped from the side, looking excited, if a bit lost. Zam nodded quickly next to her.
Fuck—
"What?" Megii near-shouted, her voice high and shocked. AJ and Drift turned around immediately, already taking steps towards Megii and Ros on the tree, who both shared expressions of shock.
"No, no, Megii—" AJ started to say, laughing at the end of it.
"That's not what we meant!" Drift told her, glancing at AJ, who was laughing slightly. "As a dare. Like, not actually. Like— okay, if we had to choose someone to— like, add? To us? It would be… I don't know, you, I guess."
A couple people giggled and snickered around them, clearly finding the misunderstanding funny. Graecie let out a oh, I'm sorry! which AJ just waved away. She didn't manage to look at anyone else's faces, because…
Megii was just—
Megii.
Her cheeks were red, as were her ears, which seemed to be on fire. Not only had they perked up slightly, almost entirely erect, but the tips of it were a cute bright pink. The colours matched her blushing cheeks, making the Mage just look entirely red.
At the same time, her hands fidgeted with each other. The fingers of one hand pulled on the fingers of another, like she didn't quite know what to do with her body. Megii's legs, though, which once swung on the branches, were now still, almost in shock, the same as the look on her face.
"…oh." It was barely even a word — more a sound, that the Woodland Mage let out. AJ thought it was similar to those of a deer, or a squeaky bug running around. "I— um, oka… right. Okay. I— um, yeah. That… yeah."
"It was just a dare, lo—" AJ. "Megii. That's why, you know, throuples were brought up? That was the question. Who Drift and I would add as a third." She tried to speak as slowly as possible, as softly, trying not to upset or scare Magpie.
"Oh." Magpie blinked at them. Her eyes seemed oddly shiny, oddly wet. AJ and Drift gave each other a slightly worried glance. "So— we're… um, we… we're not—"
Megii went quiet, her eyes fixed on the ground rather than the two girlfriends, as everyone watched. Drift slowly pulled her arm off AJ's shoulder, the two staring at the Mage while she thought of exactly what to say.
AJ couldn't name the last time she felt this worried, for what Magpie might say. In front of so many people…
"Hey, um—" Scott, who still sat on the branch, next to Megii, cleared his throat. "Maybe you guys want to like… go inside to talk about this, or somewhere private…" He glanced between the three girls, who had all turned to look at him. AJ could feel the looks of everyone else around them on their backs, watching the miscommunication like it was a good play.
"Yeah, that… that sounds like a good idea, actually." Drift laughed awkwardly, her gaze turning to Megii. AJ nodded as well, albiet hesitantly, tilting her head when she noticed how Magpie's face had seemed to calm down — now less pink and flustered. But the Woodland Mage had begun to move already, sliding off the branch and moving down the path.
Like she was running away.
"Megii!" AJ raised her voice after the girl, placing the beer glass she had in her hand onto the ground and moving to follow behind Megii. Immediately, Drift followed, the two giving each other another worried look as they walked down the path to the pub, tailling behind Megii.
You whisper to Infinitedrift: what the fuck what the fuck what the fuck
Infinitedrift whispers to you: i know omg i know
You whisper to Infinitedrift: what the fuck is happening
Infinitedrift whispers to you: I DONT KNOW IM SO CONFUSED
You whisper to Infinitedrift: does she WANT to be in a throuple??
Infinitedrift whispers to you: maybe????
You whisper to Infinitedrift: do WE want that??????
Infinitedrift whispers to you: maybe????????? it could look less suspicious?????????
For some reason, how suspicious the Queen might be of Drift and AJ for being rebels, was the last thing on AJ's mind.
As they walked, following Megii into… wherever she was going, flower petals dripped off the trees. They fluttered down in pink and white colours, littering the pavement with flowers and cherry blossoms. Although, Megii seemed to be picking up her pace as they all walked in the same direction, towards the pub.
Don't drink. Nothing bad even happened, Magpie. Everything is okay, please, don't drink again.
Eventually, they made it to the front door, which was left open behind Magpie as she came inside. The Mage was in the middle of the pub, facing a random table, unmoving.
"…Magpie?" AJ asked, getting into the house first. It seemed to catch the girl off guard, because she turned around and paused.
"I— oh. What… what are you guys…" Megii looked shocked at their presence. She was frowning slightly, but most of her face had recovered. Magpie was no longer red and blushing too bad — it was really just a light tinge at her cheeks.
"What do you mean?" Drift frowned back at her, sounding slightly worried, unsure, at why Megii was confused. "We— we thought… I thought you wanted to talk? Isn't that why you left?"
AJ squinted her eyes at Megii, who was trying very hard to cover up a surprised expression. "I— no! No, I'm okay. No need… no need to— talk. No problems. Nope. Unless-— you guys have a problem?"
"We don't have a problem, Magpie." AJ answered for the couple, speaking slowly. "You just ran in here, so…"
"Oh." The Woodland Mage muttered, suddenly looking at the floor. "No. I just… wanted a moment."
"…did you?" Drift raised an eyebrow at her, and took a step forward. Instinctively, Megii seemed to take one back, almost as if she was trying to seperate herself from the two as much as possible. "You just seemed, I don't know, a bit confused? When we chose you for the… dare."
"And flustered." AJ added, not even trying to hide the teasing smirk on her face, which only mad Megii's head snap to hers.
"I… not flustered. And… it's okay, I don't think— I'm not confused." None of them said anything as Megii blinked, her mouth parted like she didn't know what to say next. "Why? Did— did I look, um, confused? Is that alright?"
"Is that alright?" Drift frowned even more, giving AJ a sideways look, to which the Death Mage returned with a shrug. "Anything is alright, Megii. You can feel whatever you want to feel. We just… it felt— kind of like you had something to say, back there. Before Scott interrupted. Which, thank God he did! But, are you sure? You're not… I don't know, thinking about anything?"
"Anything we should… know about?" AJ asked sceptically. Magpie made a face in response, pursing her lips.
"No… I'm not, um, confused."
What a liar. AJ could almost smell the confusion wafting off the Mage's skin.
"Alright. What were you going to say, then, Magpie?" AJ tilted her head, feeling her eyes soften as Megii looked away again. "Was it… about us?"
"Us… like, you and Drift?" Magpie looked between them.
"Like us three." Drift shook her head, looking worried. "We know you wanted to say something."
The Woodland Mage didn't reply. She was biting her lip, in fact, like she was trying to stop herself from replying. Still, Megii didn't look too nervous, too anxious. Just unsure, maybe uncomfortable. Somehow, AJ knew Megii wasn't going to reply — or at least not honestly, not about what she was really thinking.
They needed more. Drift might be able to get most of Magpie out with a hug and a couple sweet words, but her and AJ? They were different.
"Does it bother you, Magpie? That Drift and I are dating, and not you?" The words came out of AJ effortlessly, doused in a teasing, flirty tone. Drift's head snapped towards AJ, almost scolding her.
"I—" Megii let out a small gasp at the question. "No! I'm happy that you guys are happy! Always."
Hm…
"That's not an answer, Magpie." AJ raised an eyebrow at her, sporting a cheeky grin. God, was she enjoying… whatever this was. "What, did you secretly want to be our… third? It a secret fantasy of yours, or something?"
Infinitedrift whispers to you: what the fuck are you doing
You whisper to Infinitedrift: just trust me
The look on Drift's face was not trust. Still, she didn't interrupt, simply watching as AJ took a small step towards Megii. AJ could only imagine how wolfish she might look right now.
Megii looked entirely shocked at the idea that she— wanted that. "No, what? I mean… well—" She blinked. "I'm not. Your… anything. Third. I'm— not."
The way she spoke was weird, almost disgusted with the words. They came out of Megii's mouth clunkily, not fitting right into the air, the atmosphere around them.
"…right. But when we chose you, did you— like it? Or not like it? Did you not like the idea of being with us?" AJ pushed further, beginning to smile. "You don't want that, Smart One?"
Her eyes glazed over, becoming shinier even in the dimmed pub lighting, before Megii shook her head softly. Whatever AJ had pushed on, it was beginning to work. "It… I just thought, that… we were all, like, hm— equal, I guess?"
"Equal?" Drift asked before AJ could.
"…yeah?" Even Megii was wincing at her own words. "Like… maybe we all, I don't know, cared… about, all of us. But— maybe it's just you two?"
You whisper to Infinitedrift: whatttttt does that mean
"But we do all care about each other, Megii. I mean, it—" Drift glanced at AJ like she, for the first time, truly wished she wasn't here. Like she wanted to say something, but couldn't, simply because of AJ's presence. "There's care between all three of us. Not just… me and AJ. Right, AJ?"
"…sure?" What did Drift want AJ to say? That she cared about them both? That she loved them? Because Drift should know that AJ wasn't going to say that — that it wasn't… true.
Infinitedrift whispers to you: you are SO unhelpful right now
You whisper to Infinitedrift: i got her to tell us what was wrong??????
Drift threw a dirty look in AJ's direction, at the same time as Megii frowning at her.
"Okay, well, ignore AJ, Megii." Drift suddenly looked more serious, sadder, and AJ had to hide a sigh. The more serious we act like this is, the more she's going to act like nothing happened. "I care about you. So much. Honestly? More than I care about AJ—"
"—right here, Open Book—"
"Because I love you, Megii." Drift took a breath. "In so many ways, that are, yes, weird and hard to understand, but they're right. So, no, it's not just me and AJ, it's you and me. And you and AJ. And— all of us, isn't it?"
You whisper to Infinitedrift: first time being in a throuple. kinda nervous
Infinitedrift whispers to you: oh my god lock in this is serious
"Really?" Megii blinked at the two. Her face was entirely back to normal now — her body language more relaxed, blush gone, stuttering less. Oddly, AJ wanted it back. The blushing was cute! "Because, hm, you guys— like each other— like— romantically. Dating. You feel that, hm… for each other. And I don't know… I don't know…" The girl began to trail off, her words getting lost somewhere between her mind and her mouth, before she eventually stopped talking.
"It's okay to not know, Megii." Drift comforted her quietly. AJ didn't know how, she barely noticed it happen, but Drift was now next to Megii, her hand on her shoulder.
"Yeah, I know. I just— I don't know what," Megii sniffed, looking away from Drift, and to the floor, once again, "I feel." There was a heavy swallow. "But… I still feel."
Oh shit.
I think— is that a confession?
AJ and Drift locked eyes over the Mage, AJ's widening with a grin, and Drift mouthing oh my fucking God.
There wasn't a whispered reply, but Drift's head suddenly shook up and down, nodding quickly. Megii sniffed again, not looking at the two girls.
AJ knew she had to ask. Drift might not, but she had to. "For us? You feel, for us, Magpie? For… me and Drift?"
Neither Earth nor Death Mage said anything as they waited for the answer. It took a long moment
"…yeah." Megii finally said. It wasn't that she sounded naive, or too shy, or embarrassed by her feelings. Really, she just seem confused. Scared, possibly, that— they might change things.
You whisper to Infinitedrift: DID YOU HEAR THAT. DID U FUCKING HEAR THAT
Although, AJ couldn't hide how her body was buzzing so strongly — how her heart was beating in excitement, and nerve. There were… so many things to consider here.
Slowly, Megii looked up at Drift, glancing to AJ.
Infinitedrift whispers to you: I DID. I HAD LIKE NO CLUE. WHAT DO WE DO NOW
When neither of the Mages replied, their skin buzzing too much, mind too shocked to know what to do next, to know what they wanted to do next, Megii sniffed again. "…if— um, if that's okay?"
"What?" Drift laughed at her softly, while AJ frowned. "Of course it's okay, Megii. AJ and I… we don't know, either."
"About… hm, what you feel?" Megii asked.
AJ shrugged to Drift, letting her speak. "Yeah. But— that's also okay, you know? It's okay. We all can figure this out, together."
"How?" Magpie blinked slowly. She didn't look real, under the warm lighting of the pub. She didn't look human — more like some angel, sent just for AJ and Drift. Of course, Drift looked the same. But AJ was used to noticing it on her, more.
"Oh, easy." AJ sighed, finally speaking, grinning at the opporunity to joke again. "We all make out and then kick out the worst kisser. I've already packed Drift's stuff, so don't worry."
"Uh—" Megii blanked, eyes drifting to Drift, who looked like she was going to throttle the Death Mage.
"She's kidding, Megii. We're not… we're not going to do that." Drift shook her head and gave AJ a stern look silently saying lock in, making the girl just laugh.
"No making out?" She asked, looking slightly confused. "But you guys do it."
"No, Magpie, we can make out all you want. I say we start right now, actually—" AJ began to laugh again, but Megii clearly caught on, raising her hand up and slapping AJ on the forearm.
"I'm serious, AJ! Don't make fun of me." Magpie pouted softly, making AJ make an aww sound.
"Aww, Magpie's sad, is she?" AJ took a step towards the two Mages, who were leaning against one of the pub tables. Drift was holding Megii's arm, standing next to each other, AJ now standing in front of Magpie, looking up to her. "You gonna blush again?"
It was already happening.
Megii's ears had turned pink again, her cheeks reddening by the second as she made an embarased sound. AJ made another cooing noise, enjoying the moment, while noticing the satisfied look on Drift's face.
"Oh, that was so easy, Megii. Look at the blush." Drift turned her head in front of Megii, almost inspecting her face.
"I'm not even blushing." The Woodland Mage denied. And, to her credit, she sounded convincing. But the evidence was on her cheeks.
"Oh, yeah? What's that, then?" AJ poked the side of Megii's cheek with her pointer finger, making Drift laugh and Magpie turn away.
"My cheek?"
"The blush on your cheek, love." Kill yourself, AJ. Genuinely die. Genuinely die. Why do you keep saying that? Oh my God. Stop. "Megii."
Drift and Megii suddenly glanced at each other. Somehow, AJ knew they had just whispered something to one another.
Infinitedrift whispers to you: you're not slick buddy
You whisper to Infinitedrift: i actually hate you
Infinitedrift whispers to you: xxxxxxx
You whisper to Infinitedrift: you just want to kiss me
Infinitedrift whispers to you: well we are in a throuple now im not sure if you know
"What are you guys whispering about?" Megii suddenly demanded, her eyes tossing between them sceptically. "I can see your eyes talking."
"Oh, Open Book's just saying she wants to kiss me. Normal, everyday things, you know…" AJ said, not a speck of joke in her voice.
Drift hit her arm. "That's not— I was saying AJ wanted a kiss. Not me."
"Uh huh, right…" Megii nodded at the Earth Mage slowly, giving AJ a small wink. "Sure, Drift."
"What— Megii!" She protested, amking AJ laugh, almost hysterically, in her head. "You're supposed to be on my side!"
"I am!"
"That was not on my side. I saw that wink! When did you even learn to wink?"
"I've always known how to wink!"
"Well, you don't have to do it now!"
The two started bickering, silly smiles on both their faces. Megii was still blushing, her ears getting less pink with every moment, but AJ couldn't help wanting to keep them that colour.
Idiots, she thought, unable to stop grinning.
