Work Text:
Jungkook craved moments like these. Moments where he could just sit alone and watch Jimin. Jungkook watched Jimin glide across the floor, twisting and turning in such graceful yet sensual ways. He watched Jimin dance as if it was the first time he’d ever seen anything so beautiful. His eyes were glued to the elders form which moved so perfectly and with such defined and purposeful movements. He thought to himself that he would never tire of watching his hyung dance. Jungkook couldn’t possibly ever tire of seeing Jimin’s concentrating face, his eyes that were filled with determination and joy, his full lips pressed in a thin line at times and parted at others, his cheeks that were pink from the effort he was putting into his dance. Jimin glowed from head to toe, he shone so brightly Jungkook was afraid he’d be blinded, but he could never bring himself to look away (he didn’t want to either).
The music came to halt slowly, as did Jimin. The dance was over and so Jimin stood there breathing heavily, briefly closing his eyes with a satisfied smile planted on his features. Jungkook sat there and admired Jimin for as long as he could. He liked moments like these, the quiet ones where he could gaze upon Jimin without interruptions. Jimin slowly opened his eyes and turned to face Jungkook, his smile growing even wider until his eyes were turned into crescents.
“How was it Jungkookie?” he asked.
“It was beautiful hyung,” Jungkook replied with a smile of his own as he stood and approached his boyfriend.
“Was it really?” Jimin questioned as Jungkook stopped in front of him and placed his arms around Jimin’s waist.
“Yes. Everything you do and everything about you is beautiful.” Jungkook said as he pulled the shorter into his chest and hugged him affectionately. Jimin giggled softly into Jungkook’s chest and mumbled: “stop being so cheesy.” But Jungkook knew that the elder liked it when Jungkook complimented him in such ways.
“I’m not being cheesy, I’m stating the facts,” Jungkook responded into Jimin’s hair as he held Jimin tighter.
“Sure you are.” He heard Jimin murmur. They stood there in each others embrace for a few minutes. Jungkook adored these types of moments. Moments where he could hold Jimin and just relish in the shorter’s presence. He didn’t have to worry about rushing for their schedules or getting teased by the other members. It was just him and Jimin tucked into each other's arms and enjoying the silence around them, content with just knowing the other was there.
“We should get going now. I want to take a shower.” Jimin said as he shifted in Jungkook’s embrace. Jungkook hummed in agreement and let go after a few more seconds. Jungkook didn’t let go of Jimin’s hand, though, he walked them to the corner and picked up both of their bags. He slung them over his shoulder and then walked hand in hand with Jimin out of their practice room and towards the elevator.
They exited the building, masks drawn to cover their faces as they walked towards their dorm. They talked about the concert they had in a week's time and how excited they were. They talked about the weather, they talked about what they wanted to eat for dinner, they talked about the other members. They talked about everything and nothing in the short twenty-minute walk. When they walked into the dorm, Jungkook let go of Jimin’s hand and then they greeted the others. Jungkook took a seat on the sofa next to Taehyung after setting their bags down. Jimin scurried away to take a shower and change before dinner.
Jungkook watched Taehyung and Hoseok play on the PS4, he could hear Jin in the kitchen cooking, he saw Namjoon in his room working on their next album, he figured Yoongi was probably taking a nap, and he could hear the water running in the bathroom. He listened to Taehyung and Hoseok’s banter and laughs and he smiled to himself. He loved afternoons like these; where they were all relaxed and happy. These were the moments he enjoyed and look forward to.
Jimin soon exited the bathroom wearing shorts and an old baggy t-shirt. His silver hair which had a soft blue tint to it in the lighting was still dripping and a towel hung around his neck. Jungkook couldn’t help but stare and Jimin always caught him. Jimin smiled at him sweetly before heading towards the kitchen to help Jin, leaving Jungkook with only the image in his head.
They enjoyed a nice dinner that night, Jin’s cooking was always amazing after all. They all chatted amongst themselves, the air alight with their enthusiasm and excitement about the next few days. The upcoming concert and fan signs. Jungkook looked at the others who were all smiling and laughing and he felt content. He was happy, happy for himself and for all the members, he was happy he had made it as an idol and that he had confessed to Jimin more than a month ago.
After dinner they all retired to their rooms, Jungkook was glad they all had their own rooms now but he sometimes wished he could share a room with Jimin. He lay in bed thinking about how much fun the next few days would be when he heard a knock and then his door creak open, he pulled himself up onto his elbows and looked towards the door with a smile when he saw who was there.
“Kookie?” Jimin called out tentatively as if he were afraid the younger might already be asleep.
“Yes hyung?” Jungkook said as he sat up completely and turned on his bedside lamp.
“Can I sleep with you tonight?” Jimin asked closing the door behind him and approaching the younger, sure that his request wouldn’t be denied.
“Isn’t it too early in our relationship for that? I thought you wanted to wait.” Jungkook teased and smiled gleefully when he saw the pink hue dusting across Jimin’s cheeks.
“You know what I meant!” Jimin whined as he pouted. Jungkook chuckled and then nodded.
“Of course hyung. You can sleep here whenever you want.” Jungkook stated as he moved to make space for Jimin. Jimin got in beside Jungkook, still pouting. Jungkook leaned over and closed the light before wrapping his arms around Jimin and pulling him closer to cuddle with. Jimin squirmed a bit, tangling their legs together and getting comfortable in Jungkook’s hold before he sighed in content.
“Kookie?” Jimin called out to him after a few moments of silence.
“Hmm?” Jungkook hummed to show he was listening.
“Why do you like me?” Jimin wondered aloud.
“Do I need a reason?” Jungkook asked.
“There’s always a reason Jungkookie,” Jimin responded.
“Hmm...well I don’t have one,” Jungkook said.
“How can you not?” Jimin questioned.
“Because I don’t need one. I’ve always liked you hyung. Ever since the day I met you, I’ve been attracted to you.” Jungkook replied. Jimin was silent and Jungkook could tell he was thinking about what to say next and so he waited patiently for Jimin to speak again. But Jimin never said anything he just sighed and whispered good night before snuggling closer. Jungkook wondered what it was Jimin had been thinking about but let it be and instead kissed the crown of Jimin’s hair whispering a good night back to him before drifting off to sleep.
Jungkook awoke the next day with Jimin still in his arms sleeping peacefully. Jungkook blinked to adjust his eyes to the sunlight streaming into his room from the window. He smiled to himself as he gazed upon Jimin’s sleeping face. Jimin looked so peaceful in his sleep, his mouth slightly parted with little puffs of air coming out. His eyes were closed and his cheek was pressed against the pillow. His hair was a mess but made him look cute. Jungkook carefully removed one of his arms from Jimin’s hips and started carding it through the elder’s hair, loving the soft feel of it. Jungkook longed for moments like this where he could wake up and see the love his life still lying next to him, still in his arms and sleeping soundly.
Jimin stirred and slowly opened his eyes and blinked as he looked up at Jungkook whose face was inches away from his own. He smiled at his boyfriend, a beautiful eye smile.
“Morning Kookie,” Jimin whispered.
“Morning hyung,” Jungkook replied his own smile widening a bit as he gazed at Jimin fondly.
“You ready for today?” Jimin asked softly.
“Yea. You?” Jungkook questioned and Jimin hummed in response. The two lay there in silence until they heard the others bustling about outside getting ready for their packed schedules. Jimin sighed and ruefully untangled their limbs and got up. Jungkook followed suit and stretched.
“Kookie is Jimin in there with you?!” Jungkook heard Jin shout from outside his door.
“Yes, he is hyung!” Jungkook yelled back.
“Ok, well get ready both of you! We’re leaving in thirty minutes!” Jin warned before walking away.
“Well you heard Jin hyung, we got to get ready. I’ll see you in a bit Kookie” Jimin said as he made his way out of Jungkook’s room. Jungkook watched his hyung leave before getting out of bed and getting ready.
The whole week was busy for them and Jungkook wasn’t able to hang out with Jimin as much as he wanted, and especially not alone. They had photo shoots, meetings, and were still perfecting their choreography for the upcoming concert. They were all so busy and slightly on edge as the concert day drew closer and closer. Jungkook sought out Jimin whenever he could and was delighted when Jimin sought him out as well. Even though they never found a moment to themselves Jungkook was happy and satisfied. He was even more satisfied when Jimin snuck into his room each night to sleep next to him.
Before they knew it, it was the day of the concert. When they arrived at the concert hall they were swept up in the preparations and last minute rehearsals. It was already busy but Jungkook knew when evening came it would be much busier. They prepared themselves and ran through their dance routines and event schedules with full concentration, they occasionally joked with each other to take the edge and excitement that came with performances, off.
As evening drew closer they got busier just as Jungkook knew they would. Everyone was in a rush to prepare. The makeup artists made last-minute touches to the member’s faces, their hair was styled to perfection, and clothes pressed and pinned until they all looked stunning. When Jungkook was all ready to go he went to look for Jimin to see if he was ready too. Jungkook found Jimin in one of the empty makeup rooms. Jimin looked nervous as he paced up and down the room, his eyebrows furrowed together in concentration and his hands a jittery mess. He didn’t even realize Jungkook had come into the room.
“Hey,” Jungkook spoke up and watched as Jimin jumped having been startled, and then looked up at him with wide eyes.
“H-hey...you scared me.” Jimin murmured in reply before walking up to Jungkook and giving him a hug. He rested his head on Jungkook’s chest and closed his eyes listening to Jungkook’s heartbeat.
“Sorry about that.” Jungkook murmured back holding his boyfriend in a comforting manner.
“Hmm, it’s fine,” Jimin replied. It was silent for a moment. And once again Jungkook couldn’t help but relish in the moment, after all, there was a reason he adored them so much. Jungkook pulled back a little and leaned down so he was face to face with Jimin. Jimin seemed to know what he wanted and so he smiled and leaned forward. Their lips met in a sweet kiss. Jungkook’s lips melded with Jimin’s and a few seconds later he sought entrance by swiping his tongue across Jimin’s lips. Jimin gave in without hesitation and they enjoyed the kiss for as long as they could before pulling away from each other to breathe.
“No more Kookie, someone could walk in,” Jimin said turning away when Jungkook tried to go in for another kiss. Jungkook pouted but knew Jimin was right, he wished the whole world knew how he felt for Jimin, but as it was only the members knew at the moment.
“Just a few more?” Jungkook pleaded despite knowing the danger and his pout must have been very cute because Jimin gave in. They kissed again, not as hard or as long as the first time, but soft kisses and lots of them. They pulled away after a bit, both satisfied and happy. Jungkook was significantly calmer now than he had been before they kissed, and Jimin also looked much calmer too. Jungkook smiled brightly, he appreciated moments like these, where they could calm each other down with simple touches or kisses. He knew that Jimin’s presence was simply enough for him to calm down, and it was probably the same for Jimin.
“You ready for the show?” Jungkook whispered as he and Jimin were still wrapped up in each other’s arms.
“I’m still a bit scared. What if I mess up?” Jimin admitted.
“You’ll do fine. You practiced so much. I know you’re ready.” Jungkook reassured and Jimin only nodded taking comfort in Jungkook’s confidence in him.
“I really hope so,” Jimin said.
It was time for the concert to start. The opening act consisted of Hoseok and Jimin dancing first to bits of Boy Meets Evil and Lie . Jimin was dancing blindfolded and Jungkook couldn’t help but be slightly aroused by the sight. Jimin looked so stunning. Jungkook could see that all the practice Jimin had done had paid off, he performed without incident and it looked absolutely amazing. After their duet Taehyung went up and performed his solo. Jungkook was up after that with Namjoon, but he had to see Jimin before going on stage. He made his way to Jimin when he came backstage and smiled at him. He had to refrain himself from attacking his boyfriend with kisses and settle for a small hug, seeing as there were bound to be cameras around.
“You were amazing hyung. Absolutely flawless.” Jungkook said softly beaming at Jimin who radiated happiness at the moment.
“Thank Kookie!” Jimin responded with such a bright eye smile Jungkook was sure he’d be blinded for life, but he didn’t mind. He savored every smile and constantly did everything he could to make sure that smile never faded.
“Oh Tae is done, you gotta go now!” Jimin said and ushered Jungkook forward towards the stage. Jungkook glanced back at Jimin once before he hurried to get on stage and perform his duet with Namjoon. After Jungkook and Namjoon’s duet, Jin and Yoongi went up. Then they all went up to perform Blood, Sweat, and Tears and 21st Century Girls . They gave small speeches and did some improv acting. Everything went smoothly and they found themselves enjoying themselves while performing. Jungkook snuck glances at Jimin every chance he got and was awestruck each time by how happy Jimin looked. All the stress they’d been experiencing up until they began to perform was gone, replaced with joy.
During the speeches, Jimin declared his love for Jungkook in a teasing manner. Everyone smiled at the things Jimin was saying and some of the fans even laughed. Jimin always did things like that, he’d declare his love for all his members and it was always perceived as platonic. But Jungkook knew that Jimin meant every word that he said and he meant it as more than a friend at least when it came to Jungkook. Jungkook couldn’t keep the goofy smile off his face as Jimin spoke, he rejoiced in his hyung’s words of love even if they were delivered in a teasing manner.
When it was Jungkook’s turn to speak he teased Jimin back, earning himself a high-pitched laugh from the later, which only served to make Jungkook smile even more. He reveled in the moment. He also professed he liked Jimin which was somewhat uncommon from him but the fans saw it as him just being sweet towards his hyung.
After the concert, they went home exhausted but contented. They all went to sleep rather quickly seeing as they would be up early tomorrow for a fan sign. Jungkook changed and then waited in bed for Jimin to come like he had been every night for the past week. But he got tired of waiting after ten minutes and so he decided to go to Jimin’s room for a change. He walked quietly to Jimin’s room and knocked. He didn’t receive an answer so he checked to see if the door was locked. It wasn’t and so he opened it slowly and peeked inside.
The lights were still on and he was able to see Jimin laying on his bed. Jungkook went inside and closed the door softly behind him then padded his way to Jimin. When he was beside the bed he saw that his hyung had fallen asleep. Jungkook couldn’t help the affectionate smile crossing his face at the sight, Jimin looked so adorable yet again. Jungkook softly pushed Jimin over a little careful not to wake the elder. Then he pulled the covers over Jimin and slipped in next to him. He kissed Jimin’s forehead before turning off the lights and cuddling Jimin to sleep (you could say Jimin was Jungkook’s favorite pillow).
Jungkook woke up the next day when he felt Jimin’s lips on his cheek. His eyes fluttered open just as Jimin pulled away from him looking slightly embarrassed, though Jungkook wasn’t sure why. He was still not fully awake so he simply wrapped his arms around Jimin and pulled him down to kiss him on the lips. Jimin kissed back just like always. When they pulled apart Jimin giggled gracing Jungkook ears with the sound. Jungkook wouldn’t mind waking up that way every day for the rest of his life. After all these were the moments he was thankful for. They whispered ‘good morning’ to each other and then cuddled for awhile longer. Then they got up and got ready to face the day.
At the fan signing things were a bit tense, or so Jungkook thought. He disliked moments like this. Moments where a fan would get really close to Jimin. Or when Jimin would get close to another member to please a fan. It irritated Jungkook, and he didn’t like being irritated since he knew it was somewhat irrational. He knew Jimin was simply providing fans with fan service and that none of his affectionate gestures towards the others were meaningful. But he really couldn’t help the jealousy rising within him. He sighed and continued to put on a fake smile while he signed and talked to the fans.
When they were given a break from signing Jungkook pulled Jimin with him to a secluded area in the hallway. Jimin looked confused and asked what was wrong. Jungkook didn’t answer, he looked around and when he was certain no one was around he kissed Jimin. Jimin was surprised by the sudden kiss, he began to panic since they were in public, anyone could turn around the corner and see them. He pushed Jungkook away and glared at him.
“Why did you do that?! Anyone could have seen us!” Jimin hissed out and Jungkook grew even more irritated.
“Is it wrong for me to want to kiss my boyfriend?” Jungkook questioned angrily.
“In public yes. You know what’s at stake if we get caught.” Jimin replied upset by Jungkook’s angry tone.
“No one is around. All I wanted was a little kiss.” Jungkook said upset as well.
“Well, you can’t just act on impulse Jungkook. We have to be careful and that means no kisses out in the open no matter how unlikely it is someone is around.” Jimin insisted.
“Why are you making such a big deal out of this? You didn’t even kiss me back.” Jungkook accused.
“Because you aren’t being careful!” Jimin whisper-shouted. “Don’t you understand what happens if we’re ever caught?” Jimin continued.
“Yea I do, but you’re just being unreasonable. It was just a small kiss and I made sure no one else was around.” Jungkook persisted.
“Jungkook! You never know who’s hiding somewhere nearby or when someone will just walk around that corner! I allow kisses behind closed doors because there is always a few seconds of warning before someone comes in. But in public spaces like this, there aren’t! For all, we know someone could be hiding in that dark spot over there or there could be someone in that room over there trying to listen in on us. There’s so much risk even in seemingly empty hallways like this. Why don’t you get that?” Jimin asked but didn’t wait for an answer. He walked away upset and angry with Jungkook.
Jimin avoided Jungkook for the rest of the day. Jungkook loathed moments like these, where he and Jimin were fighting. He hated making the elder sad or angry and he’d done both by kissing him in the hallway. He realized he had been reckless for doing that and Jimin was right there had been plenty of hiding places in that hallway and he hadn’t checked any of them. He had let his jealousy take control and taken a risk just to prove to himself Jimin was his and no one else's. By the time they finished with their schedules and returned home, Jimin and Jungkook still hadn’t talked beside when they had to for the fans.
Jungkook felt bad and wanted to apologize. He waited to see if Jimin would come to his room that night, but wasn’t surprised when he didn’t. With a sigh and heavy heart he went to Jimin’s room and knocked softly hoping the elder hadn’t fallen asleep already. He got no reply but when he opened the door he saw Jimin sitting up on his bed reading a book. Jimin glanced up at Jungkook before swiftly returning his gaze to his book.
“Hyung?” Jungkook called out tentatively wondering if Jimin would give him the chance to apologize.
“Hmm?” Jimin hummed and Jungkook couldn’t tell if there was any anger in his voice or not.
“Um...can I come in?” Jungkook asked thought he had already come in and closed the door behind him.
“I don’t see why you can’t,” Jimin muttered and Jungkook could tell he was still upset but was still unsure if Jimin was mad. Jungkook walked up to Jimin’s bedside and stood there awkwardly for a moment, hesitating to sit beside his hyung.
“Sit down Kookie.” Jimin finally stated with a sigh as he closed his book and scooted over. Jungkook sat down relieved, Jimin definitely wasn’t mad at him since he’d called him Kookie. They sat in silence for a bit before Jungkook spoke up.
“I’m sorry hyung,” Jungkook said and Jimin sighed again looking at Jungkook in the eyes.
“I’m sorry too. I shouldn’t have reacted like that.”
“No. You were right I should be more careful...that was reckless of me.”
“Yes it was...but I get it...you were jealous weren’t you?”
“...How...how did you know?” Jungkook asked surprised.
“Because I was jealous too. The fans adore you and were constantly trying to get closer to you...and even the other members were too close at times, I think they were doing it to get a rise out of me, to be honest.” Jimin mumbled the last part as he looked away from Jungkook. Jungkook giggled at that, happy that Jimin no longer sounded upset and had forgiven him so easily.
“But don’t do it again Kookie,” Jimin warned.
“I won’t,” Jungkook responded.
“Promise me you won’t be reckless about this no matter what. I really don’t want to deal with the consequences that would come from that. I...I don’t think I could bring myself to choose between you and being an idol...or more like...nevermind.” Jimin said but Jungkook was curious now.
“What hyung? More like what?” Jungkook pressed wanting to know.
“...I’m afraid that I’ll choose wrong...I’m afraid I’ll choose you and you won’t do the same for me,” Jimin admitted looking at his lap and fidgeting with his hands.
Jungkook hated moments like these. Moments were Jimin doubted himself and how much he meant to Jungkook. Sure they’d only been dating for about two months, but they’d been friends for much longer. Jungkook felt like Jimin should know by now how much Jungkook loved him.
“That won’t ever happen. We won’t get caught and if we do...well you don’t have to worry about choosing me because I will do the same. I will always choose you.” Jungkook said with certainty.
“Are you sure?” Jimin asked in a quiet voice sounding insecure.
“Of course! Why would you question that?” Jungkook asked.
“...Because you said you like me…” Jimin replied in a small voice.
“...And?” Jungkook asked not understand what Jimin was getting at.
“You...you said you only like me...you even said last week that you didn’t have a reason for liking me, that you were simply attracted to me, which implied you only like me for my body...so what if I didn’t have this body? Would you still like me?” Jimin elaborated and then it clicked with Jungkook why Jimin was thinking the way he was and was insecure about their relationship.
“Oh Jimin, why didn’t you say anything earlier?” Jungkook asked pulling his short hyung into a hug, resting his chin on Jimin’s silver hair.
“I don’t just like you hyung...I...well I love you. I love everything about you, not just your body. I do like that you're shorter than me and that you have chubby cheeks though they aren’t as chubby as they used to be. I also like that you smile with your eyes and do it so often. And I’ll admit that your body is really hot and sometimes doesn’t match your cute face but that’s not why I fell in love with you. I fell in love with your personality long before I fell for your looks. I was attracted to you at first because you were so kind. You reminded me of home and family. You made me smile all the time, comforted me when I was down, and you were there for me whenever I needed someone, that’s why I was attracted to you. So you see it doesn’t matter to me what you look like though I can’t imagine you being anything but cute.” Jungkook finished and pulled Jimin away from his chest to look at Jimin’s eyes. He noticed that Jimin had tears in his eyes but they looked like they were tears of relief.
“Really?” Jimin asked.
“Yes really. I love you because you are you hyung.” Jungkook answered and Jimin began to cry but he was smiling and so Jungkook knew it was alright, that they were alright.
“I love you too Kookie. So... so much.” Jimin said as he wiped at the tears running down his face.
Jungkook smiled and pulled Jimin’s hands away from Jimin’s face. He rubbed his thumbs over Jimin’s cheeks softly wiping away at the tears that were still leaking from his eyes. He leaned forward and planted a soft kiss on Jimin’s lips.
“I love you now and forever Jimin hyung,” Jungkook whispered against Jimin’s lips before kissing him again. They kissed a few more times before they agreed it was time for them to sleep. And so they curled up into each other like they had been doing recently and drifted off to sleep.
It had been a year since they started dating and by now they knew more about each other than they had ever thought they would. Jungkook was even more in love if that was possible. They’d had their ups and downs throughout the year but they made it through and Jungkook was determined to make sure they stayed together forever. He’d marry Jimin if he could.
These were the moments Jungkook loved and lived for. Moments where he had Jimin all to himself and all they did was seek comfort in each other. They were back in Busan at Jungkook’s parent’s house for vacation and at the moment Jungkook’s parent’s were out and so they had the house to themselves for a few hours.
“Kookie?” Jimin called out to him.
“Hmm?” Jungkook hummed in response. They were sprawled out together on the sofa of the living room.
“I love you,” Jimin said.
“I love you more,” Jungkook replied smiling.
“I love you most.” Jimin countered.
“Not possible.”
“How do you know that?”
“Because my love for you developed during our trainee days. You didn’t even realize your feelings till two years ago.”
“Aish, I shouldn’t have ever told you that.” Jimin groaned. “But just because I didn’t realize my feelings doesn’t mean I don’t love you more!” Jimin persisted.
“Hmm hmm, whatever you say hyung. I still love you more.” Jungkook replied giving the elder a kiss on the forehead.
“...Wanna do something fun?” Jimin asked when Jungkook pulled away.
“Like what?” Jungkook asked not paying too much attention.
“Like maybe I don’t know? Head to your room and do something in bed? I mean we do have the house to ourselves for a few more hours.” Jimin suggested. Jungkook detached himself from Jimin looking at him seriously.
“You mean it?” Jungkook questioned and Jimin nodded blushing slightly.
“Alright let’s go!” Jungkook said excitedly jumping off the sofa and grabbing Jimin’s hand, leading them to the bedroom. After all, those are the moments he looks forward to.
As they made their way to Jungkook’s bedroom Jungkook thought about how much he loved Jimin. Jungkook knew that Jimin was his world and that nothing would ever be more precious to Jungkook or treasured more than Jimin himself because Jungkook really really loved Jimin.
