Summary
The apocalypse started 6 months ago. Monsters, with petaled faces and vicious talons, flooded into Hawkins in droves. You'd think they could have been stopped by now, but the fight was unequal - most humans didn't stand a chance, and those who did had just lucked out with some successful weapons and hiding spots.
Scavenging had become commonplace, but Hawkins was small, and the abandoned stores had already been thoroughly exhausted. The Byers' supply was almost out, and if they wanted to last the winter, they needed to replenish it. Will was up for the trek. There might be some surprises along the way, but Indianapolis had to have more to offer than Hawkins had left, right?
However, he did not expect to find a travel companion in a lanky, black-haired boy who asked too much (and answered too little), and was a little too easy to get attached to.
What he was looking for wasn't the only thing he found on the road - and in the privacy of a shared hotel room.
