Summary
It's eerily quiet in the forest, like the ancient spirits are holding their breath along with Sasuke. He can only hear Naruto's quiet breathing, feel the warmth of his skin as he cups Sasuke's jaw, his thumb tracing a line from his chin to where his neck meets his ear. Sasuke was sure of it now— Naruto was the personification of the sun, put on this Earth to give warmth to Sasuke's otherwise cold body.
"I'm going to become a knight." There's no fighting the conviction in Naruto's voice. Sasuke feels heat flood his cheeks, ears, and chest, emanating from the violent pulse of his heart. "Even though I'm just a boy right now, I won't let anything happen to you, or your family." Naruto rolls onto his side, propping himself up on his arm. He pushes hair out Sasuke's eyes, a smile on his face. "I'll be here for you. Always. You gave me a chance to live. I'll protect you with that gift."
