Jecka and Nicole walked out the double doors as the final bell rang. Kids came rushing out expeditiously, but some were put into an immediate halt when they realized,
"It's raining!?!" Jecka exclaimed annoyed, while Nicole looked up,
"Guess it is."
The remark made Jecka all the more pissed as she rummaged through her backpack. "It's just rain, what're you so upset for?" The other glared at Nicole, "I don't walk in the rain unprotected ike some loser. You should know that!"
Nicole rolled her eyes, "You preps are so over dramatic..." She trailed off, but as she observed the raindrops pounding the ground, they became more aggressive as mere seconds went by.
"Damn it's getting kinda bad. Jecka where the hell is that umbrella?" Nicole looked back frantically to find Jecka wide eyed...

"I.. I might've forgot my umbrella..."
Nicole sighed, then followed a short argument:
"Bitch why the fuck did you remove it in the first place???"
"Why didn't you bring your own?!?"
"I didn't think I'd need it--"
"There's your answer bitch! Just because you don't have shit doesn't always mean I will, end of discussion." She said, holding her hand up.
"I know I'm not walking in this rain..." Nicole whispered, looking around to see if anyone had an umbrella on them. Majority of them had hoodies on their heads or held their backpacks over their head. But she noticed a specific person walking along the sidewalk, Karen.
"Karen!!! Hey Karen!!" "Nicole--" Despite Jecka's callout, she ran, the other turned around to see Nicole, almost out of breath.
"Hey Nicole, whats wrong?"
Karen replied, fixing her glasses and pausing the music on her iPod. Nicole had no idea she owned the thing. "Hey uhm *pant*, it's raining pretty bad, is it okay if we share an umbrella?" The other nodded kindly as Nicole went below the umbrella alongside her...
Jecka looked defeated while Nicole winked at her, watching in pure jealousy as the two walked away, protected from the rain. Unlike her. She didn't dwell for long as she figured to do the same. Putting her backpack on her back, she scanned the crowd, only to be stung as she seen Kelly and Trody hold each other lovingly, wearing jackets while under an umbrella.
"Greedy pigs..." Murmuring, she turned her head away, just to see Megan laying her head on Hunter's shoulder, secured in a raincoat as he wrapped his arm around hers, holding an adult sized umbrella.
She groaned, looking more off to the side, this time it was Jeffery having to hold his backpack over his head as Kylar stolen his umbrella, or more so had better coverage due to the height difference. Hearing Jeffery's cries to have his umbrella back gave Jecka petty satisfaction.
"Hey Jecka, whats up?"

She looked to her right, and there Emily stood, a hoodie over her head. Jecka would've flipped her off as she was basically flexing right in her face, but she replied calmly,
"Nothing much, just waiting for this stupid rain to blow over.." Emily tilted her head, "I seen the news, this'll be going on for a few hours, you sure you wanna wait?" Jecka's eyebrows knitted into a full blown sweater. "What?!? Oh my-- Fuck this!!!"
Emily nodded, "My condolences, better pray you're flat enough for your backpack to cover you!" "Fuck you...." Emily giggled, "So, whatcha gonna do?" Jecka stared straight forward, the harsh rain was unforgiving, but she had to get home or her dad could give an unforgiving beating...
Jecka's eye twitched as she found herself walking through the rain unprotected like a loser. The heavy, relentless drops felt like books stacking onto her head. Dampening her backpack, and sticking her clothing to her.
Of course asshole drivers weren't anywhere near considerate as they willingly drove in the puddles, spraying Jecka's legs in cold rain water. "Ofcourse I wear my favorite pair of jeans today, of-fucking-course!!!"
Being wet didn't feel all nice when you weren't in a relaxing shower. The cold wind made her shiver, hands cupped over her shoulders. Jecka looked up, sighing as she recognized this neighborhood. Good thing about the rain was no dogs were out and barking at her. However that didn't do much to fix her mood.
It was almost her against the raindrops until she heard a rumble in the sky, and not too far from her, a flash of light scared her half to death as she realized that she was walking in:
"A THUNDERSTORM?!?"

Jecka yelled as she broke in tears. She tried to walk as fast as she could, since it wasn't a good idea to run, slipping and falling in the rain wasn't what she needed. All she could do was make it home as she noticed thunderbolts crash onto the pavement nearby, an open field, and other areas.
It became all too overwhelming, the water splashed all over her shoes and somewhere near her ankles. Her wearing socks only made the wet feeling all the more unbearable...
She shook as the strikes went on and on, groaning all the more louder. Emily wasn't kidding when she said that this rain was stretching on for a while. Jecka tried wiping her face, but in all honesty, she wanted to stall herself with something to do. Covering her eyes so she couldn't see how fucked she was.
After a while, Jecka let her hands go, looking forward to see the siluohette of her house approaching. It felt normal before her hair raised as if a balloon made contact with it.
"Wha---" *BAM!!!* She froze in place, her eyes were widened and strained by bright light. It felt like her body was being pulled apart. She screamed as loud as she was able to, her voice roaring until it met it's limit. When it stopped, all she heard was ringing, her entire system shut off as she fell face first onto the side walk...
Jecka blinked slowly, her eyes still felt horrible and the fluorescent lights above didn't help. Her body was dry, there was a thin plastic zip tie around her right wrist and her outfit replaced with a light blue gown. Must've been took to the hospital, that explains the tall woman who smiled before her.
"Hi young lady!"
Her voice was sickeningly sweet, well, not exactly but her tone did piss Jecka off. "You experienced quite a painful shock, luckily a neighbor found you in time!" It all came together, "I-I almost died!?" Now that she thought about it, the tragedy didn't sound all bad, but she didn't want to go out like that.
"Ah, no no, lightning strikes don't usually kill, so you're fine, doesn't mean you don't deserve the proper treatment! It did last quite a long time." Jecka paused, a lightening strike of all things?! Oh wow.
"I...." No words came out, the nurse nodded, "Don't worry, near death experiences as these aren't easy to grasp. You hungry?" Jecka shook her head, but the nurse left to get some food either way.
After a moment, her father came into frame. Jecka frowned, trembling before her mom walked in after. Her instincts were on ten, her eyes flickered towards the two.
"Hi sweetie, how are you feeling?"
Her mom asked, hand carressing her daughter's. Jecka didn't know how to respond. "I-I'm fine..." Shameless lie.
As for her father, he looked disappointed or moreso amused, if anything he could've took some boiling hot water and striked her down himself.
"We're glad to know you're okay dear, we wouldn't know what to do without you!"
He added, "Probably fight to the death..." She mumbled. Sooner later the nurse came back with some standard food, a cold turkey sandwich with even colder orange juice. "Thanks ma'am." Her mom said, the nurse left once more. "You know Jessica you really shocked the both of us!" How punny, she rolled her eyes, "I'm afraid to ask how..."
"Me and your mother were just watching television, and then we hear this horror movie scream as thunder went off!" "Such range Jessica!" Her father death stared his wife for a split second before continuing, "It was quite the scare.... Going outside we found our neighbors surrounding a body."
"You can only imagine the pure anguish on our faces when we realized it was you!" Her mom added. Jecka nodded weakly, "Hahaha... So funny.." She replied, turning to her food. Her mother positioned her to sit up right as she reached for her meal.
"Dear heart, if you need a ride home you could've told us!" Jecka rolled her eyes as she took a bite of her turkey sandwich. Sadly, her father caught it, "Jessica, don't roll your eyes at your mother."
"Yeah, he doesn't like it when he sees how his behavior affects you.."
"Here we go--"
"Excuse me, Mr. and Mrs. Chaste?" They both turned. Jecka's mentally thanked the nurse for popping in, however another doctor with a clipboard shown up, and we all know what that means. "The compensation for your daughters injury, plus her consuming our pleasantries will be about one hundred thousand."
Thats a lot of money, Jecka watched as her father looked towards her mother. What a disappointment, her mom sighed as she stood up, reaching for her credit card.
"Damn, so you really got struck by lightening n' shit?" Nicole said, checking out the massive scar that stretched from Jecka's back to her arm. "Yes Nicole, hurt like hell..." She replied cynically.
"Thats so hot-- I want one!!!" She whined, Jecka rolled her eyes, "Imagine puncturing that shit with a blade--"
"Are you fucking serious?!"

Nicole put her hands up, "Okay okay sorry, I was just... Trying to 'lighten' the mood.." Nicole is truly lucky Jecka didn't catch the subtle pun. Jecka turned back towards her vanity, "Don't be too bummed out, you look way hotter." She tilted her head,
"I guess.... You think it's up there with Emily's angel wing tattoo?" She saw Nicole nod in the reflection, "Totally." "I suppose that makes me feel better." "Not only that, you're gonna have to change the wardrobe if you wanna own this hot look..."
Jecka turned around again, "What?" "I mean, you're gonna look too desperate clinging to the old you if you stay dressed like a prep." Jecka turned to her mirror once again, she squinted as she realized the drastic stretch between her current style and the massive scar...
"You think my parents would agree?" "Fuck no, but it's good to think about just in case, you're planning to go to college right?" She nodded weakly.
...
The two sat in silence as Nicole spoke once more,
"Hey, you think I can like, get Emily to carve me a cool scar?" "Nicole what the fuck???"
